NBA OFFSEASON TALK- Where our favorite teams go shopping for tanks

Because it IS way too much. I'd rather the Cavs let him walk than let him consume that much of the salary cap while only being useful on one side of the floor. We can do better for that kinda money.

That's not happening. TT is going to be overpaid because he's Lebron's boy, no other team has even bothered to show him an ounce of interest because it's not a matter of if but when. And the Cavs are going to overpay him because they haven't forgotten what it was like to not have Lebron on their team.

Kinda glad Bron left to go have a power trip in Cleveland. As a miami fan if i'm envying any front office this season is the Spurs, who are getting everyone and doing so discounted.

I wasn't playing attention much this offseason but Tristan Thompson wants 80million? I personally feel like that's way too much.

He wants the DeAndre Jordan deal..... LOFL. $13 mill a year for five years is my absolute limit for him. We need him but not at $20 mill per. You can't have four max players on the same roster with Ky, Bron, TT, and Kevin Love. Someone has to take less. Bron doesn't sign for less than $21 mill. I understand everyone isn't Tim Duncan but at least have some understanding of your value.

I think he signs for four years and $52 mill with an opt out after year two.

Let's get it to 55% this season!

You know it's sad when 55% is your goal.

People acting like Tristan Thompson wouldn't get a 4 year max deal from another team this year if not for being restricted. He would. Teams aren't bothering because they know Cleveland will match. But this year is monopoly money, and next year is going to be even crazier. Max deals in 2015 are discounts compared to 2016, and Cleveland doesn't want to let Thompson get to 2016 as UFA.

People also acting like Cleveland could spend that money on somebody else this offseason if they don't sign Thompson.

Doesn't make me feel any better about it.

David Lee to the Celtics. I like that, Boston got Amir Johnson and David Lee at the PF spot.

Wesley Johnson to the Clippers for league minimum. Doc please the SF spot should be the least of your worries.

I'm fine with the Lee trade, but what's in it for the Warriors? Just purely financial? I'm guessing they can stretch Wallace.

Either way, very doubtful that either of these players remains on the roster past the trading deadline next year.

They might be able to get under the cap. Only pay 3 million this year to Wallace versus the 15 mill or whatever they'd pay Lee.

They were explaining it on the Russillo show earlier, but I can't remember all the specifics. I think it involved stretching Wallace as you mentioned.

Let's get it to 55% this season!

I saw one of Matthews rehab workout videos that he posted on twitter. His lateral still looks a bit slow but he's running and looks pretty good so far.

I'm more worried about Parsons than Matthews being ready for the regular season tbh.....

Also does anyone know how KD's rehab is going? Last I heard he tweeted something about how he can do jumpshots now but he still can't do cuts or anything real physical. I think the tweet was deleted.

Windy said earlier today he's heard TT wants 5 years 90 mil. lolol.

Yeah, that would slow things down for a while.
Damn.. 90$ mil for a guy whos best skill is to collect Lebrons bricked Js..

i say let him walk. You dont need him to go ti finals and the teams that will pay him that much are the garbage ones.. No Contenders from either conferences will drop that much money for him.

It would make total sense if this is why the deal hasn't gotten done. Yeah, TT is LeBron's boy, and so is Rich Paul, but the Cavs have to put their foot down somewhere and not be stuck with a bogus contract like that, even when the Cap goes up. No way in hell should TT get paid what Kyrie's making. If he could actually hit jump shots or have a 3, then maybe
or better than 64% from the line
, but got damn.

Isn't TT an RFA anyways? Why not just see what he can get and match the offer sheet?

You have to have another team willing to tie up their own cap space for 3 days on a deal they know you're going to match. So in a sense, the Cavs are bidding against themselves now but really against what the 2016 market might dictate for a player like Thompson. I was reading Zach Lowe's article today on Grantland, and with a lot of players locking themselves into long term deals this year, the top names next year will actually be quite few (Durant, James, Wade [generously listed as top tier]) and then you'll have teams flush with cap space bidding on second and third tier free agents. They're going to get paid.

It's Dan Gilbert's money, so if he's willing to part with it, then go on right ahead and do that.

Lee is on the old cba which u cant stretch, wallace is on the new cba.... Technicalities.

Some local writers are saying Warriors won't stretch him and just eat Wallace's salary this year (or trade him for something even lesser). They'll still save over $20 million.

So barring any further transactions it looks like the Lakers lineup is:

D'Angelo/Lou Williams
Clarkson/Swaggy/Jabari Brown
Kobe/Anthony Brown/RKelly
Julius/Bass/Nance
Hibbert/Taraq/Sacre/Upshaw

I imagine Mitch will ditch Sacre and Kelly for a bag of donuts just to free up roster spots, would love if we could get rid of Young too. Otherwise guys like Upshaw, Brown and Nance will probably be in and out of the D League all year long.

Even with Hibbert that team is going to get straight shredded defensively, but at least watching the young guys develop instead of seeing scrubs like Lin, Boozer, Wes Johnson and Jordan Hill get most of the minutes could be fun. Still, tell me with a straight face that lineup is winning more than 30 games at best? Outside chance at the tank again.

This off-season has been really interesting with so many players moving around. Seems like more than usual. It's almost more fun to pay attention to than the regular NBA season.

So according to lebatard the heat have one too many players on their roster and a move to clear some room is going to have to happen. That kinda doesn't give the team a lot of leverage going into any trade talks. Meh.

Sure it does, as long as they're not fixed on a particular player to trade. "We have to unload a guy, but we don't have to unload this guy, and we don't have to unload him to you. Now let's see if you and I can do business in good faith."

It would be funny to see him sign for that and yet guys like Danny green and Demare Carroll are making under 70 million.

Well, comparing someone to a Spurs player isn't like for like. They've built a culture of winning and sacrifice that no other organization has. The players take less money to play for a championship. That's been the deal for two decades, so obviously Green is going to sign for less than market value.

It's why it's so funny when someone says Wade sacrificed so he's due. He already got his reward: two rings. That's the biggest difference between Wade and Duncan -- Wade still wants his (money, pride, power) whereas Duncan just wants to hoist the trophy again.

The Raptors still don't have a starting PF.

I'm not worried. Masai is still undoing the damage of the last regimes. That means salary cap flexibility. Raps have plenty of tradeable assets because of thee friendly contracts.

Wouldn't surprise me to see derozan and his current friendly contract traded for a PF with 2+ years left on his deal (hello ken faried), and a 3 point specialist. He's up for a big raise next year and not sure if the raps want to pay him Reggie Jackson type of money (or in other words, tie up 25% of their cap space on DD.)

I suspect they'll stick with Ross at least until the feb trade deadline.
