But, they know how much power they have and how powerless GMs are to do anything about it. They simply have too much power in the league, if the Pistons are somehow legit and win it again next year with zero superstars that might start a change in how they deal with stars throughout the league.

Practice session at TC...Mobley was in the section I was in, and it was an autograph/pic session after the practice. Francis darts off the court about 5 minutes into the autograph thing...and Mobley's like AW MAN HOW COME HE GETS TO GO? And was ready to leave, and some PR woman wouldn't let his ass go. :lol.
But anyway, that was more of Francis being a douche than Mobley.
BTW, T-Mac saying Houston is the only team he'll sign with means nothing. If Indiana wants to trade for him anyway, then let him. If he bolts after next season, that's their problem. They clearly still have an interest in him, yet Orlando won't even return their calls. Pretty stupid if you ask me, especially when the Francis issue is proving to be pretty sticky. I suppose Orlando would rather trade him to the western conference, but they should just let Indiana know that and be done with it. But that organization has never been known to do things smartly.

Just 24 hours after it was leaked that the Orlando Magic and the Houston Rockets had reached an agreement which would swap stars Tracy McGrady and Steve Francis, the New York Times is reporting that the deal may have it a snag.
Steve Francis, the Rockets All-Star guard, had made public his displeasure about the potential trade to Orlando, leading to the Magic reconsidering the deal.
Francis is under contract for several years and has no veto power over trades, meaning if traded to Orlando he'd have no choice but to play. This is why, according to the New York Times, several league executives and player agents were baffled by Orlando's hesitation.
"John Weisbrod is setting a bad precedent by caving in to this guy," one agent said, referring to Orlando's general manager and speaking on condition of anonymity.
Looking elsewhere, the Magic entered into serious discussions with Phoenix yesterday, and the Suns are offering Shawn Marion, the up-and-coming Joe Johnson and this year's first-round pick (seventh over all), for McGrady. That would give Orlando an All-Star small forward in Marion, a potential All-Star shooting guard in Johnson and the first and seventh picks in tomorrow's draft.
Indiana has also shown major interest in McGrady offering anyone with the exception of Jermaine O'Neal, but the Magic has not been moved by any of its offers.
Many league executives believe the trade will still go through with Houston because of McGrady's wishes, but Orlando may move Francis on without him ever wearing a Magic jersey.

jesus you should play for the Rockets with that reaching ability. You'd be able to block shots without leaving your feet.
My point was: Tmac is basically saying "I don't want to play for Orlando, trade me." Francis is saying "I don't want to play for Orlando, trade me." Same shit. The only difference is that Tmac is has an opt out, which he is probably basically using as a 'no trade clause'. Why else would Orlando potentially turn down far superior deals from teams like Phoenix or Indy to take Francis and fucking Mobley from Houston?!? You don't think Tmac lets quietly lets it out that he won't play for those teams, forcing them to back off (nobody is going to mortgage their future for 1 year of McGreedy) so he can get his way and end up in Houston?
