Fuck what a shitty way to lose. The 14 point half time lead was probably the worst thing to happen to us...we got lax to start the 2nd half and then played tight for the next 5-6 minutes. Couple of terrible calls in the end (Zeller was definitely fouled), but got to expect the home team will get the 50/50 calls.

At least I can wholeheartedly say we can hang with anyone. To go into Cameron and get up 16 at any point shows we're light years ahead of last year.

I will say this, and you can book it.

Kendall Marshall is going to lead UNC to a championship.

Reminiscent of the Duke-UNC game from 98 that they always show the highlights of Wojo jumping into K's arms after the game. The 98 game 'meant more' just because of how long UNC had dominated the rivalry, but this one meant a lot too. Damn tired of seeing UNC celebrate at Duke, gotta start putting that stuff in the past. Really proud of them hanging in there.

Was on the quad for just a little bit after the game, shit was crazy. I'd go out, but I have early class and I'm too fucking tired :/

Marshall played into Duke's hands tonight, but dude is gonna be good. By the time he's an upper classmen, the ACC will have shit enough bricks to erect a statue in the kids' honor

I got grudge sucked!
So nothing official but word is going around that Kyrie could return right before the ACC Tourney. Granted that can go down the drain with one bad pull or twist, but still

Nice! But I really hope Coach sticks to his guns and do what's right for Kyrie. Championships are nice and all, but I'd want my team to look out for the players first and foremost.

Michigan State's remaining schedule(revised predictions/outcomes):

Feb 10 Penn St. 7:00 PM W
Feb 15 @Ohio St. 9:00 PM L
Feb 19 Illinois 9:00 PM W
Feb 22 @Minnesota 9:00 PM L
Feb 26 Purdue TBA L
Mar 2 Iowa 6:30 PM W
Mar 5 @Michigan 2:00 PM W

9-9 in the Big Ten might make the tourney. Will all come down to the Michigan game it looks like for Sparty.

If Kyrie can't go, he's not going to go and its going to be how he feels basing on what his dad, the specialists and K suggest. K is not dumb. He'd love to have Kyrie but having him guarantees nothing, he doesn't have anything to prove, and if Kyrie were to seriously injure himself and jeopardize his career, K would take a shitload of the blame and recruiting would take a hit

I think K has been smart in saying that he didn't expect Kyrie back, he has also made sure to distance the current line up from the pre injury team. Its not Kyrie's fault that the injury happened so we can't blame the FSU loss, the St Johns loss or the 1st half ass kicking we took last night on him not being there. If he did, then Kyrie coming back looks like K pressured him to. Sources close to the staff have said that Kyrie would have given about anything to be on the floor last night, HE takes it more personally than the team does.

Anyway, speaking of St Johns, they're kicking the shit out of UConn right now

If Kyrie's ready to play, Coach K keeping him playing in fear of re-injury would be the worst thing he could do to Kyrie. The kid is already probably tearing himself up inside for not being able to help the team.

4 straight losses for the Gophers. SHIT! GODDAMN!! ARGH!!!

At least the schedule is a bit better from here on out. No ranked teams(although Michigan State might climb back into the rankings) but man this team is hurting. We could easily win out or lose the rest of the games...I really don't know about this team anymore.

I wouldn't be shocked to see you guys win out, or at least finish 10-8 in B10. That is pretty much a lock in this year's tournament.

Ohio State
Purdue
Wisconsin
Illinois
Minnesota

and *drumroll*

Michigan State will get in as the 6th B10 team this year, mark my words!

That was a huge game for you. Your schedule looks pretty tough the rest of the way. 2 games vs. Purdue, @ Ohio State. @ Michigan State. You might finish 9-9. So tonight's win, as I already said, was huge. It was payback for last year I guess.

I think you're right about the Gophers finishing 10-8(1 more loss in conference play)...or at least I hope...I'll take it at this point. Anyhow, looks like we'll be seeing you again, maybe, in the 4/5 game depending if Michigan State continues to implode or not. Thank god Minnesota beat West Virginia and North Carolina in non conference play, or I'd say we wouldn't make the tournament, even with a 10-8 record. Our only signature win would have been Purdue and that just wouldn't cut it. 3 signature wins is pretty good, with maybe a 4th(Michigan State) to come plus the Big Ten Tourney.

If he's ready to play. That's a big if. I just want Coach to be absolutely sure that he's 100% healthy before they get him back on the court. He might not like it now, but he'll appreciate it later.

I'd make a Steve 16 joke but he won't even make it that far.

Lavin has been a godsend to St. John's. To make SO much progress in less than a year, he's been a huge surprise. Steve's assembled a fantastic coaching staff, his first recruiting class is ranked 2nd in the country, and he has Norm's rudimentary recruits playing into the national tournament.

St. John's made the lead story last night on ESPN. A good 5 minutes of St John's coverage on ESPN, when was the last time that happened?

I wake up this morning, Lavin's the "surprise guest" on WFAN and the papers have St. John's on the back page. Oh yeah, and people are going to games again! Not just St. John's alums either!

Tell me why I should not love this guy again?

Because he's a bad coach.

I know SJU is a bad program, and New Yorkers are really weird about basketball, but this is a guy Baron Davis once called out as being useless.

Big wins + amazing recruiting + St. John's resurgence = "because he's a bad coach."

Doesn't add up. His hiring has provided great results, and that's all that matters. NY'ers are not weird about basketball, we just have a what have you done for me lately attitude. And goddamnit, Lavin has done a lot lately. If he's a bad coach, I'm waiting to see it on the court.

Yes, I know about the weirdness of his UCLA days, but it looks like Lavin's learned a great deal since then. As it turns out, he may be more of a manager than a coach, and that's perfectly alright by me.

Big game today, I just have a feeling that we're finally going to get a loss at the Kohl center. One of the toughest places to get a win at. Also fuck you Wisconsin for not letting us have a shootaround friday night or saturday morning.

Because that's what they always do with every team ever, always. It's not like they're going to come up with anything interesting or original to say.

Look above you at the Golden Gophers posters, look how excited they were a few years back, and wait a few years. Then you'll figure it out.

I thought coming into this game that this would be our first loss. But after surviving the initial emotional start and being up by 2, I like our chances to pull this out.

If we can force another scoring drought out of Wisconsin - and start hitting some perimeter shots - I think we're good.
