NeoGAF 2.0 Error Reporting & Feedback Thread

You can control what emails you receive, if any, on the preferences page: https://www.neogaf.com/account/preferences

I'll look setting a sensible limit for that particularly notification email though. Thanks.

Thanks, and yup, of course. This is just the first live test using one of my keys (I'll make an announcement tomorrow probably, to highlight it. Was curious to see who would notice it!). This new giveaway system will be like the old modbot giveaways we hacked into working on ancient vb3 except much better. :)

I can't wait to be able to push my keys on there. If anything a Catagory system maybe for more high profile giveaways like AAA or Pre Orders? and then Humble Bundle and stuff like that.

This is just a random thought and maybe not worth thinking about.
Is the like system inhibiting discussions? instead of writing your opinion on a topic you just hit the like button and you're done. I think it's nothing drastic but maybe something to think about. :)

in my personal opinion, I think the restrictions only remembers are allowed to make threads should go away. If I want to make a thread about something, why have this obstacle in my way? And I don't want to resort to asking someone else to create a thread for me. I am glad that gaf allowed me to use gmail to sign up cause I couldn't before. But I don't see why a restriction who can and can not post is really necessary.

I'm getting a "Oops" error when trying to open up an image (https://www.neogaf.com/attachments/chart-png.2/) present on this post (https://www.neogaf.com/threads/revi...ogaf-off-topic-in-2018.1460712/post-253180634).

Also, not sure if this would make life better for everyone, but i'd really like if the links we click opened in a new tab.

What are (if there are any, could be a test thing) the requirements to be eligible to enter the Giveaway? When I first visited the page it said i couldn't participate, now there's an "Enter" button.

Something's up with the attachment system, will investigate.

Yeah, I generally prefer defaulting to opening links in new tabs when clicked. We'll consider swapping that over.

Re: giveaways, it's in day 1 beta so if anything funky happens, blame it on that. I don't believe we've set any usergroup restrictions for active non-banned users though, so feel free to enter and let us know if you continue to get an error.

Thanks.

If you decide to reply to someone and then change your mind, the quote you were going to reply to keeps appearing at the bottom of the thread no matter how many times you delete it. At least until you post something else.

The interface feels great on mobile but I'm yet to find it appealing on desktop. Hope it'll get tweaked. Needs to be more subtle, maybe a font and size change could work.

Are there restrictions on Neo/Neophyte members sending PMs? I just got approved and it says I don't have access to the conversations feature.

I didn't see anything about it in this post but couldn't find anything anywhere else either.

Grumpy see, Grumpy do.
Hi F FillerCraig , first of all, welcome!! :)

That is correct, as well as a restriction on creating threads there is also a restriction on PMs for brand new members. The thread that you've linked to really isn't an exhaustive explanation of everything that happens on here and it will evolve moving forwards but I will add the info about PMs to it.

Thanks for raising the issue, it really won't take you long to gain access if you're posting constructively on the forum.

Thanks!

I actually had an account question I wanted to ask a mod privately. Is there an email address I can send that to in lieu of a PM? If not, is there a specific post threshold I need to cross before the PMs open up?

Yes, if you go down to the Contact Us link at the very bottom of the page it will bring up a webform that you can send off. This thread is for general questions but obviously if it's about account information or personal things then this isn't really the place for it.

I'll check to see if there is also a general email address I can post here for occasions like that.

In terms of specific post numbers and length of time new members need to be here before their membership changes, there are set numbers where it would happen automatically for people but we aren't actually discussing those specifics as we really don't want to encourage people to just think of it as just numbers and rush to post that many times in a certain period of time.

We'd much rather that people posted because the had a genuine reason to post rather than posting just to change their membership. What I will say though is that when membership does change for people, I don't think that they'll believe that it took too long or that they had to post too many times for it to happen.

The vast majority of new members have been absolutely fantastic but unfortunately there will likely always be a tiny minority of new people who have joined up to do nothing more than cause trouble, post adverts, show pornographic images, insult people, etc. It's because of those few people that all other new members are put in this position but we are trying to make it as fair and as open as possible while still being able to control the few people who shouldn't be allowed to be members.

Nothing is fixed though and if something genuinely isn't working then we can always look at changing how we do things.

I assumed it was something like this (after you didn't give a number the first time) but thought I would ask just to make sure. Thanks! I'll use the Contact Us form.

I use the like button when I have nothing to add to the discussion but really agree with or love a post in that topic. It's better than quoting that post and saying "agree" or spamming the thread with a overused reaction gif.

In my case, it's not replacing a potential post.

I’m just gonna quote me cause nobody else will.

Turning phone on it’s side will then display the alerts section

I spoke about this previously in this thread because I was having the same issue. In the end, I discovered it wasn't really an issue with the forum but it was an issue with me having my phone set to a really low dpi. I changed it to 400dpi in the Android Developer options and the alert icon is now there and everything looks better.

Anyone know why ilfait was banned? Didn't see anything. And just so I don't commit the same offense.

Time out for implying a user they disagreed with is a Nazi. The sensationalized personal attack stuff was edited out by the mods so as not to disrupt the thread.

Hi, I did make enquiries about this and unfortunately it seems that information has gone now. Although it'll be annoying for the few screenshot based threads that used that format for people referring to them, fortunately it is only an incredibly small percentage of threads that actually use that formatting and new posts will be able to take the formatting changes into account.

Btw I noticed that I'm no longer a Neophyte, but a Neo Member. What does that mean? I still can't create threads, can I?

I'm not a fan of how time stamps disappear on posts older than a few days. I realize you can hover over the date, but that doesn't work on mobile.

Are new features/ improvements being worked on right now? Would be great to hear if we should be requesting new features as well.

Like having the page switch buttons at the top and bottom of the page or a refresh button added etc.

Absolutely, yeah. More big announcements coming soon, and you're welcome to make any feature requests in this thread. Actively monitored and taken into consideration. Thanks!

Personally, I'd move the gamergate-thread back to off-topic. Let's keep that kind of discussion away from gaming discussion.

I see there was some discussion about the font size on pc, I'd prefer a tighter/smaller font layout more akin to the old site, is something like that in the cards?

Can the box in ‘Watched Threads’ next to each thread be made bigger?

I often get a case of fat fingers and open the thread instead of checking the box on my tiny iPhone 5s.

I think the background color when replying (message editor) is to similiar to everything else especially when looking at a preview of your text. Just a little bit darker background or a shadow/glow around the editor would be nice.

The inline editing and answering gets finicky on a small phone, the page jumps around when hitting edit or when a notification about new posts comes up.

Wish there were options to do these on their own pages.

I have massive performance issues when replying to posts since the forum upgrade. It's nearly impossible to type anything because of the input lag. I literally type a few letters and have to wait for them to appear before I can type more.

So I opted out on email notifications everytime someone responds to a thread I respond, but I still receive emails.
You need to watched threads and disable the notifications. All the watched threads enabled before disabling the email are still configured to send emails.

The input lag is a combination of the quickreply box and the browser.

Is there some kind of limit how long the message draft stays saved? I did a topic on tuesday, and saved it. Now I tried posting it, but it was gone. Or does it only stay saved if I don't post in any other threads either? The loss is not big, as I did save the source code just in case. Just wondering why it disappeared.

Okay, here's a half-serious/half-joking/and-another-half-serious bit of feedback/wish:

How about you bring back Caturday, Evilore ;p I remember these threads as some of the most innocently fun, hilarious threads on NeoGAF before any of the modern drama had started.

For those who don't know: sometimes a Saturday would turn into Caturday, and there'd be a thread full of cat memes and funny cat pictures.

Just a random thought ;i

I think I just caught your virus. Phone has been severely laggy today when trying to type anything into GAF, I'm now reduced to using a computer.

I have no clue what's doing it. Works great on PC but as soon as I browse on my phone (android) it's basically unusable. It's just been happening since the switch to the new forums.

Call me crazy, but wasn't there a way on the old forum to see who'd posted in a thread before? Like the number of posts people had made etc? Would be good to have that info to hand at times

On iPhone with Chrome, those shitty ads that say you won a prize and your only option is to touch Ok are back.

I do miss options to turn embedded media into links, especially videos. My old-ass phone at times craps itself over too much data.

I don't know if it has been mentioned but when BB code is on there's something screwy with copy pasting. It just refuses to paste the latest copy and instead pastes an earlier copy that had been copied into the post earlier. This is a persistent problem that is only fixed when I disable BB.

Maybe a stupid question, but how many posts do you need before you're allowed to post threads? Sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask this.

It's currently set to 100 posts + 1 month. The new folks seem like a good group though so I've just adjusted the promotion criteria to 50 posts + 1 month (also, avatar being set is currently a requirement for promotion as well, just fyi)

Okay, thank you! I should be able to start threads pretty soon then. And I agree, the users posting now are overall far better than the people that infested the forum before. Because of the corrupt mods, extreme SJW majority of the site, and constant dogpiling and unfair bans for wrongthink, I simply did not want to join GAF for a long time. I know the exodus hit you pretty hard, but I honestly believe it was for the best. Now we can actually talk about games and have rational political discussions from posters on both sides of tbe political spectrum. Now, I'm glad I joined after the exodus.

I'm having issues replying to this topic: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/i-would-love-to-have-more-preorders-available-on-psn.1461040/
The design is all borked too. The console log outputs the following errors:
