Not sure what you are laughing at. If you preordered, they are now shipping. I was just giving a heads-up to let folks know that Amazon has them in their warehouse finally and is beginning to ship them out. So, yes, it will be in stock on the February 3rd ship date.

Look harder... :D

Also, if any of you guys had to choose between a Blanka Fight Pad or a Hori EX2, which would you use? (I'm a casual fighter fan and want to get better, but I don't want to drop a lot of money into a stick...)

Assuming my preorder isn't honored, what stick advice would you give to someone who knows and loves the quality of Sanwa-parts but has no real knowledge or skill with electronics? Any good alternatives for either console? Any mods I can do without any soldering and so forth?

the hraps have already got sanwa sticks, and the buttons can easily be replaced with sanwas without any soldering

a guide to the mod: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=132472

So do we have any idea what is going on with the TE sticks? Amazon haven't commented on the supply/demand issue.

Personally I'd go with the EX2 if it were only out of those 2. Can't use control pads =/

If my amazon preorder fails, Im planning on buying a regular FightStick and modding it with Japanese parts.

I'm reading the TE stick thread on SRK, and they're saying that people who pre-ordered with Capcom won't be getting their sticks in the first batch!? WHHHHHHHAT!?

Yeah, I saw that. I don't think any of us are going to know who is getting their sticks until we either get called into the store we ordered at or get our tracking numbers. This is exactly why I told people not to cancel their other orders when the Capcom site opened up theirs.

I've got one ordered from both Amazon and Capcom, one of them better come through. :(

Madcatz really underestimated the demand for these things. :(

what, are they sure or just speculating?

Looks like speculation. Nobody knows anything at this point. And a lot of us have multiple preorders at different places to help with the unpredictability. That said, Capcom was one of the last places to put up preorders and they've had problems delivering things on time (remember the Pheonix Wright fiasco).

Is there any reason to question the Amazon preorders?

I'm not questioning my Amazon preorders at all. They and Lizard Lick seem like the most reliable, as far as I'm concerned.

I do have a backup preorder for a PS3 version at Gamecrazy but I'm not really expecting them to come through at all.

Besides the obvious made by Hori, not Mad Catz, I believe the main difference is that the HRAP EX uses Hori buttons instead of full Sanwa like the TE (the Joystick is Sanwa on the EX?) and it's not as rare/1337.

(I think that's it, I'm sure the stick elitists will chime in :P )

Anyone know how long the cord is?

ehh, fuck it....ill wait for the tourney stick.

I picked up an octagonal gate from lizard lick.

From my research

Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate

is the one to get correct?

You know, I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse over preordering the TE stick. See, money's tight, HOTD Overkill and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection are coming in the next week or two, and I haven't even ordered the SFIV CE yet.

I'm thinking of canceling my preorder for the TE stick, getting the three above games, and just getting the regular Mad Catz stick when I get the cash and modding it with Sanwa parts when I get the money to do that. Thoughts?

I imagine someone on GAF would take it off your hands plus a little extra. (I will if it's a 360 stick ;)

Considering I only put about 2 weeks of regular use on my 360 EX2 before it started having button problems, I can't recommend it as a purchase at MSRP. After about 2 months of use my RT button failed completely and I lost my roundhouse button. Anyone with a little soldering experience can fix these kinds of problems, but I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to bother with it.

With that being said I'm just a random guy on the internet. Some people may very well have enjoyed long periods of constant use with no issues, but I personally never purchase another EX2.

Is this the case only on the launch 20/60 gig models with full ps2 hardware, or just the later 80 gig partial software-emu backwards compatibility?

Interested to know this about the lag as well. Surely it's only present with software BC. Not sure how hardware BC would introduce it, but I ain't no engineer.

Perhaps because of the switch to USB? I don't really know. Maybe MarkMan can shed some light.

beermonkey@tehbias said:
It's actually worse than that guy says in that the PS2 BC lag still exists with 480i analog output. Three frames alone doesn't seem that much but when you combine it with HDTV lag (2-4 frames on sets I've used) all of a sudden the cumulative 5-7 frame lag becomes very noticeable in many games.
5-7 frames? It must be like playing the DC port of 3rd Strike except every game is like that.

anyone else get an update from best buy?
i just received an email sayin the release date has been pushed back to 2/15, before it was 2/3

Yeah, I got that today too. >_<. From BB's delay to my pad order from Amazon not coming until the 25th, I'm not going to have anything to use come day one when I get SF4 damnit and I refuse to use the 360 controller to play it, too frustrating for me.

Mark Man, you have not lied... that SF4 TE stick is sexy as hell. I haven't had a chance to plug it in and play - tomorrow night I'll get a chance to check it out with SF4... but the weight and feel of it is awesome!

Howd you get one already?

Why is it so expensive?
amazon.co.jp exclusive I think...

Shipping from Amazon.co.jp to 3rd party in Japan
+ shipping from 3rd party in Japan to NCSX
+ NCSX profit

just a guess i'm not nearly certain if that's the real reason

Just got an e-mail from Capcom:

To all who ordered Street Fighter IV Mad Catz controllers from the Capcom Store, Thank You!

As has been widely reported, allocations of the controllers did not meet demand. What this means is that many of you will get a backorder notice on the release date. Mad Catz is working to make more available but they will not be in stock until April. Backorders will be filled as soon as we have additional stock.

Because of this we are limiting quantities to two tournament editions per person; that's two total in any combination. For those who purchased multiple tournament sticks your orders will be reduced down to two. We want to be able to accommodate those who ordered two of the same version so that they could play with a friend. Those who ordered multiples of both versions will see your orders reduced to one of each version.

Thanks again for your enthusiastic support.
The Capcom Store.

Awesome!
