press

he's been playing the review code of SFIV for a while as well

I'm not press, but I've been very fortunate to be working at a place that has press. I've been very, very lucky.

Hmm i payed with Paypal and Capcom hasn't sent me an email yet. Also checked my order status and nothing has changed don't see a backorder anywhere on the status page.

Hmm, I haven't received anything from Capcom about that, and I only ordered 1.

*keeps fingers crossed*

Not to rain on your parade, but make sure to check your junk mail. That was where mine was. Quite fitting actually.

Hey I live in Vancouver... just so I'm aware... is there any store in this city that might sell sticks, controller adapters, buttons/parts, import games... anything? This city has a large asian community so you'd think there'd be some sort of secret import game store or something...

Hmm, I only ordered one standard stick from Capcom and didn't get the email. Fingers crossed that they can fill all of those initial standard stick orders.

Woah. I just got my HRAP EX in the mail yesterday. And I have to say...I wouldn't pay $239.90 for it. The HRAP EX SE is another story because of the parts.

I think the Death Smiles one is an SE...

EDIT: nevermind, looks like no. Eek!

Damn your right. Well that sucks they already have my money and now they pull this crap.

I also just got the email from Capcom. I only ordered one, so who knows. Let's checking order status!

*checks*

Okay, so mine currently says "Order submitted; boxed shipment." No idea what that means.

Is anyone showing "Backordered" on theirs?

MarkMan, what will availability be like in retail for the TE sticks? Will retailers such as Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. be stocking them at all? Thanks!

Well, you have to consider the following factors in that price:
1) It is an amazon-only item (AFAIK, if not it is Amazon and Horistore only)
2) Purchases are limited to ONE PER ADDRESS

So, that means that NCS (and other vendors) need to hire like 100 agents to buy sticks for them ($), then receive and repackage, ship to USA ($$$) and then yen conversion ($$$), so the cost adds up.

Yes, it is a lot of money, but if you're a DS fan (like me) or you think the stick looks cool (like me) and you're an idiot and you enjoy being parted with your cheddar (like me), you will buy it.

I am holding out hope that a buddy will be willing to order it for me and re-ship from Japan before I get one from NCS.

Rawrgh I need a TE stick!!!

After 4 Days of trail and error I am finally able to do qcfx2 :D
@Kazuo Wait till the madcatz store has it should be another week or so

Mark Man, you have not lied... that SF4 TE stick is sexy as hell. I haven't had a chance to plug it in and play - tomorrow night I'll get a chance to check it out with SF4... but the weight and feel of it is awesome!

Hey which company are you with? I just sent out a bunch of sticks last week.

Let me know.

Crap, I did get the Capcom email even though I ordered one standard stick. I guess there's still a chance of receiving a backorder notice on release day.

Damn it, this is FUBAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cancelled my amazon PS3 TE stick preorder with the iffy street date last week after preordering from capcom.

Markman is capcom getting any PS3 TE sticks for the feb 17 release date?

Well, that's that.

Yeah, a bit pricey but it is pretty unique. The markup is not too bad given the strong yen...about $80.. I did pull the trigger on one but it is a shame it is not full Sanwa at that price.

Somehow I managed to loosen the balltop on my EX2 (likely my constant fidgeting while waiting for ranked matches in HDR), and now it will occasionally start coming loose in the middle of matches -- argh. Any easy fix for this? Was thinking about picking up a new balltop anyway, because i'm hypnotized by the bubblez.

Been getting more interested in modding it, but modifying the sanwa buttons to fit seems to be a bit more delicate of an operation than I'm comfortable doing..

A friend of mine is a huge SC2 fan so I was thinking of getting him the old SCII Hori stick as a gift. http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/arcade-sticks/hori-soul-calibur-ii-real-arcade-stick-ps2/ Anyone know the specs for it and if it is easy to mod (Are the buttons soldered/quick disconnects, easy/hard to open, stick soldered?, would it fit 30mm SA/SE buttons, etc...).

Following up on this. _dementia said that the buttons are soldered in, but what about the stick? And would 30mm buttons fit well in it? I'm thinking of getting it, gutting out the pcb/buttons, and putting a MC Cthulhu in there w/ Sanwa or Semitsu buttons and stick. However I have no modding skill when it comes to the case so if the buttons or stick wouldn't fit then I won't bother.

to change or tighten the ball top, unscrew the bottom plate and place a flathead scewdriver like this to restrict the shaft from turning

alternatively do this:

AdawgDaFAB, I think you will have to take a dremel to the SCII stick's top plate in order to grind down tabs that would normally restrict Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons.

Get some red or blue loctite. The red is almost impossible to get off. Put some on the shaft of the stick near the top and screw it down, let it sit for a while and you are good to go.

That's just silly. Amazon is the most reliable retailer on the interwebs re: stock. Their shipping estimates are just off for preorder items.

BTW! Don't loctite your stick!

Just screw it hard from the bottom.

^ lol

BTW, I have nothing to do with shipping on sticks, so please don't ask/PM!

Preview for my writeup!

Honestly the writeup has been done for awhile. I just need to take some pictures lol.

Here's a preview pic or two:

Man I really wished they would've released that pad with *just* the ink splash. I'm definitely getting my PS3 "skinned".

Thanks for the pics MarkMan!

...why would you do this? would you grab a saw if you ever want to replace the stick?

If you mail me your stock controller, I will splatter some paint on it for fifty united states dollars. PM me if interested.

so awesome :lol[/QUOTE]

This looks really weird with just a bit of artwork covering the table. They should've covered the whole table or left it blank.

Sorry I meant no characters, just the ink splash *and* the logo of course. :D

I have that same tray table and it would be very unstable the way I play.

I know I love playing Street Fighter when my hands are two feet apart...

That is too extreme. However, I'd personally have no problem doubling or tripling the normal stick <-> button distance over what it is today (easier on the shoulders, more ergonomic). Standard placement is based on squeezing two players onto a cab and nothing else. Look at the stick <-> button spacing on an old Galaga/Galaxian cabinet. It is comfortable and makes sense.

i'd be more concerned with hitting that 1p button with my arm

That too. Also, it is not even finished, you still need to buy and mount a PCB to what already appears to be a train wreck. Somebody buy it and hot glue a Hori PCB to the bottom of that bad boy. Do it for the lulz!

Well the guy sounded like he didnt want to fuck around and red loctite doesnt fuck around.

You could chip off the plastic of the ball, cut the inner screw down with a dremel and save the shaft if you really wanted to.

I'm seriously thinking about cutting a hole in the bottom of my SF IV stick for easy access to switch between 4-way and 8-way use. Also might epoxy some heavy metal inside for additional weight.

I'm thinking if I post pics of such abuse some people are going to shit their pants.

so guys, Madcatz standard fightstick or HRAP3? is the 30 dollar difference justified?

It would be a plus to play some BC on my PS3 and a big plus if there is easy modding for a noob like me.

i haven't tried the madcatz stick, but the difference should only be $20, and that certainly seems worth it for a sanwa stick and a more solid base. and afaik the madcatz stick won't work with ps2 games via bc at the moment, though hopefully that'll be corrected in firmware

Agreed with all that. Plus you have the weight and a generally nice design with the HRAP. I love mine so I'm partially biased.

I had a couple of instances where I preordered movies they took awhile to ship. Across the universe took a week and a half after release date to ship, and pixar collection shipped a week after. Don't know if it was poor management of sales tracking (overselling inventory), or employee theft messing up inventory. Either way I lost a lot of confidence in them especially as the TE sticks are very limited, not to mention other people voiced concern over their amazon pre-order. Weather they are going to ship late, or are going to go unfulfilled.

Moreover with the 10% discount it came out to only $135 with no tax at the capcom store, as opposed to $162.xx with amazon + tax both with free shipping. It clearly was a no brainer... at the time.

Ok, thanks anyway. Hopefully they will get some around the 17th and I'll be one of the lucky ones, dont want to think about the alternative yet...

So I'm looking into getting an HRAP2:SA.

Thing is I know I'll need to pick up an adapter of some sort but after doing some research I don't know which would be the best to pick up.

The TAC Universal Converter seems like it would get the job done but I don't know how bad the lag would be. I'll mainly be playing SF IV so dunno for sure how bad it would really be while playing, would it be enough to notice and maybe hurt the experience?

Guess the Pelican converters are up next but they've been discontinued and I can't even find one on ebay. Lastly there is the REAL converter that I saw markman reviewed. Again, discontinued.

Sucks jumping into the arcade stick / fighting game scene a little too late being ready to go with everything out of stock or discontinued.

On Amazon, it's currently $30 difference. $100 for HRAP3 and $70 for PS3 FightStick. However, the 360 FightStick is $80, so if he was getting the 360 stick, it would, indeed, be $20 difference.

sca2511, too bad you didn't get the HRAP3, earlier, if you wanted one. Amazon had it for only $90, just last week.

If PS2 BC is a major factor in your purchasing decision, one can only honestly recommend the HRAP3 over the FightStick, since there is no guarantee Sony will release a future firmware, adding PS2 BC support to the MadCatz sticks.

If you were planning to fully modify either stick to full Sanwa parts, you'd also need to purchase a Sanwa stick for the FightStick. The Sanwa JLF joystick is listed for $24.95 on Lizardlick, although it's currently out-of-stock. The HRAP3 already comes with a Sanwa stick. Both arcade sticks utilize quick-disconnect buttons, so should be equally difficult/easy to replace the buttons. You would need to take the additional step of installing the Sanwa JLF stick in the FightStick.

Fully Sanwa-fitted, the HRAP3 would be about the same price as the FightStick, but the HRAP3 has guaranteed PS2 BC. The other physical differences are personal preference.

If you plan on leaving either stick stock, then the difference in price (currently $30 on Amazon) gets you the HRAP3 body, with Sanwa JLF stick and PS2 BC on PS3.

Hope that helps! =)

I've actually been researching that, too.

Check out this thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=132493

The first one listed, the inPin, is supposed to be really good. MarkMan actually has a review on sdtekken. http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/converters/inpin-play-converter/inpin-play-converter-review/

Apparently, the only way to order it, is by contacting one of the members, Laugh, on SRK. It's said to be one of the better converters, at a decent price, that's not so hard to get, assuming you go through the right channels...

I'm like most people who pre-ordered the TE edition (I ordered mine from capcom and received their e-mail today). I'm going to try and stay positive, but chances are, I'm not going to get it. Is it worth backing out of my pre-order, if they make me wait til april (if what i interpreted, would capcom even let me back out of my pre-order)?? I really want an arcade stick before the end of this month. SHould I get the hrap3?? or should i stick it out and wait til april? What are other people's plans if they don't get one?
