Seems fair, and thank you for the explanation and consideration with the ban reduction.
You guys that understand the ins and outs of efficiency and all of it, if you can back that up (I certainly don’t have the technical expertise), this is your chance.
I do feel a little latent frustration with the fact that VFX got torpedoed for a no-go term (which he blatantly, knowingly violated), but there’s obnoxious fanboys here who know how to play the system a little smarter, avoid terms like that, say things many times more inaccurate and detrimental to discourse, and comparatively walk free.
The recent DF critical thread, for example, was lie after lie after lie.
To be clear, I would prefer that none of these individuals be banned, that it be settled amongst the people themselves, but it rankles knowing that a much higher quality poster was temporarily removed, even if warranted, while that kind of general behavior is left alone.
I think that’s the source of a lot of frustration in this thread.

I only used 97% as an example to show it is still in the 9.xxx range, opposed to ~10TF. If I got a 69% on an exam, I w would be close to "passing", but it would still be graded as an F. I have a 12k watt amplifier in my daily driver for my subwoofers, but they will never see 12000 watts, because of efficiency, impedance, and box rise. My car can go over 160mph, but I'll probably never see that due to older oil, tire pressure might be off, etc. Xbox series X won't exhibit 12TF on the dashboard. My gpu won't be ~16TF in the BIOS.
I'm no insider, so I hope I'm not at risk for being banned for saying that. But it's just how efficiency works. But thanks for the clarification.

is far from a bad poster. He doesn't buy into the hype and is more realistic in his expectations of next-gen which is fine. What's troubling is how on more than one occasion, certain posters would get on his case for implying more PlayStation exclusives would come to PC, attempting to discredit him and put words in his mouth. I think it's disrespectful. But we need more users like him that balance out the fanboyism with actual level-headed, insightful posts. In any case, it's at least good to know he'll be back in a couple days.

This is tough becasuse VFX isn't wrong but at the same time its very likely the GPU will be close to 10TF and in the 9.5-9.99 range and lower range most of the time due to variable clocks and efficiency. But like the mod said, saying its a 9TF GPU isn't fair because its closer to 10. but at the same time saying its a 10TF GPU also isn't fair because it likely wont hit that most of the time either.
Microsofts GPU is actuallu clocked at 12.15 TF meaning that with that headroom it will likely bounce around the same threshold of 12 but will likley be in the 11.8-12.1 range more often as its a fixed clock.
The question is more what was VFX intentions? In the context of that argument I think I would have to side on him probably being a bit cute with his response knowing it would rile some people up because its a fact that many will cry false simply because they don't understand it. But again... he isn't wrong depending how you look at it.

I dont know how to go back to that thread to look up his and my quotes but it had less to do with him stating its comming to pc and more about me and others trying to explain to him it doesnt matter to us if the pc is the definite version as we get to play it a lot earlier as well as we are happy with the way it looks and that you cant compare a 1000 plus dollar pc to a 400 dollar console and we are not interested in pc version.
He kept going on how its a poor experience and such.
In that thread he was a dick.
I dont know much more about his statements in other threads , i opted out of the next gen thread a long time ago

It goes without saying that comments like those need to be avoided at all cost by the mods. The word 'moderator' itself speaks volumes. They are moderators because they have to moderate, meaning keeping everything reasonable or within certain limits. The word literally means avoiding extremes or excess of something. Moderators should de-escalate situations, not escalate them. I know that certain warnings I have gotten have simply made me more frustrated rather than actually calmed me down.
I don't know who made that comment, nor do I care. But if specific mods are generally making such comments regularly, just like users get a time out for certain behavior, so should the mods. It is only healthy, and, considering how heated things can get in here, I understand that mods can become frustrated. We users get frustrated too. We all need a break from time to time, and it would be better for everyone.
I actually just edited it now, I removed it for two reasons
1. I'm pretty sure the appendage would have gone over the character limit anyway but also,
2. It seemed to have a negative effect on user/mod relations based on responses in here, so it felt appropriate to act on that
Unfortunately it was just a flippant comment as we're seeing an uptick in some people deliberately fishing for action, to then present as evidence that the moderation is biased. The mods don't really get an opportunity to evidence unbiased moderation which is a bit frustrating but at the end of the day we're here to have as little impact as possible, just more mediation and facilitating. Comments like this can be a pre-emptive insight for other members who may only catch the tailwind on a posters return and read about 'bias' moderation.
There are some fallacies that are being presented as facts by a number of posters. Some of the debate will focus on hypotheticals where people can run wild, but the antagonistic ones are the ones that are rooted in misrepresentation. For instance if someone was saying the XsX memory pool runs at 180GB/s most of the time, that would be moderated the same way as the 9TF comments. If you do see any blatant lies then please report them. Just on the reports recently closed, there has been a disingenuous xbox topic title renamed, someone warned for insulting an Xbox fan, another notified to raise their level of discourse. These things may be obfuscated to you, but they are happening. We have the datasheet for each console and those numbers will probably be off in real world scenario's for both pieces of hardware. The conversation has to take place on that data until we have the real world data, otherwise it's just guessing and will naturally be weighted to the posters own bias. Do we really want to have a conversion table where we place the PS5 at 10TF and the XsX at 11.8TF? I'm guessing not. Not least because in most cases, posters like to only do the conversion on one side, so it's easier to use the actual data for everyone.

You can't even be a fan of Sony if you criticize one thing. If you do, you're an "xbot". Yet these guys say the stupidest shit and are not moderated. Things like

-"UE5 demo isn't possible on XSX or PC" even though epic said "it'll be awesome on both".
There's more than enough in there to permaban so many people in the spec thread if they were moderated by the same metric that's used when moderating anti sony trolls.

I may be a bit biased towards PC, just like you are obviously biased towards your platform of choice. We may not agree on the same sentiments, but I wouldn't say I'm a trouble maker. I've argued with just as many Xbox fans as PS fans, as well as PC fans. I'm just outspoken for lack of better words.

I am not going to pretend that your job here is easy but I do have a question I would like answered if possible because I feel like there are some wires being crossed here when it comes to reporting people. I think its safe to say that certain threads get more leeway due to the nature of their topic. Like the next gen thread for instance. Its a fucking mess on both sides of the wars but I think we have just accepted its going to be that way because if not everyone would be thread banned.
Simply because I reported someone that maybe was defending Xbox or vice versa doesn't mean I was reporting it because it was against one brand or the other. I reported it because its console war junk but its not like we are able to add multiple people in the same report to signify they both need to leave.
But I am assuming you only see the post that was reported which out of context might make it seem like someone is reporting it because they are rooting for Xbox and they dont like what this person had to say. Thats never been my reason for reporting but I am not sure how to get that message across.
When it comes to other threads there are certain posters who clearly are console warring that I have reported in the past and got a response of "tit for tat." My intention of reporting wasn't that two people being dick heads means only one should be removed. But the response of "tit for tat," signifies its ok to war and derail a thread if it has indication of being something that could be debated in a console war fashion.
When reporting is it better to list everyone involved and ask for their removal from the thread? Should we report multiple people? Is "tit for tat" the stance of every mod?
Again this is probably petty and as adults we shouldn't care but it bothers me when I can't go through a thread without seeing console war stuff in every thread by the same people.

Though criticizing is ok all i see is every ps5 thread is filled with alts and old innactive ones and xfans just trashing the crap out of it.
Constructive criticism is welcome but its clear what the gameplan is in all. Ps5 show was garbage no gameplay weak graphics but then hails hellblade 2 as the true showing of next gen.

Tbf he was right about Horizon. Idk know how good his sources are but definitely better than what any of us got.
As for alts, it goes both ways. Just look at ssdfan for example and guy even replied to himself cuz he forgot to switch accounts.
There is no hard and fast 'policy'. Tit for Tat is usually cited after a report comes in, and somenoe has been baited under the guise of an eloquent insult. It's to prevent people who are being provoked getting punished when they are largely cordial to everyone else. So for instance
User A makes a point then finishes with something like 'If you don't understand then keep your mouth shut and educate yourself'
User B replies and finishes with 'I understand well enough. I understand you're a fucking idiot'
User B may get reported for profanity or insults for example. And that might be the case literally, but if User A is going to insult others or give the equivalent of a white glove slap on the face then they are expected to deal with the responses (within reason/ToS). Usually the argument fizzles out but when it spans mutliple pages or derails the thread completely then someone will be removed. Usually the party unable to step back or not de-escalating. The mod team aren't a phalanx to hide behind while hurling cutesy insults with no consequences. Also context is important as words tend to be more abrasive as we read them in the mood we're in as we miss the inflection of a voice.
If you think there are a number of users in one thread ruining it for everyone else, just add the detail to the report. Reply bans are the easiest and least intrusive way to get threads back on track. A mod will usually drop in first and ask everyone to get back on topic unless the issue is too far gone for certain individuals.

Thats the thing. The majority here are Sony fans so when its anti Sony between Sony fanboys and fans you get mass reporting.
Its not as many Xbox fans as Sony fans here so reports don't seem to hold the same weight.
Just yesterday I reported one Sony fanboy trolling in i believe about 4 posts and there was an Xbox fanboy with one bait post. Guess who almost instantly was taken action on while the other one has continued trolling.
I don't care for the reporting shit but thats the game fanboys play here. Bait you and report you. Two Sony fanboys literally followed me into a thread about the valorant thread and kept trying to bait me. Again no action.
I have both consoles and enjoy em both but when I criticize something from either, im attacked by fanboys and told imma fanboy. Saddest part is these are most 40 year old "grown" men acting like children.

I think this is the first time I've ever ventured out of just criticising 'warriors'.
But the PS warriors on this site (not the regular fans), need a good, hard smack. All warriors are bad, and we can certainly point to Bernkastle and such, but the most obnoxious, sustained, disruptive behavior has come from one group lately.
Moreover, whilst constantly sobbing about an imaginary Xbox discord, they seem to act in those exact control-and-remove-the-competition ways that they decry.
Never taken a side before, because all of these types are bad. I think it finally warrants mentioning, though.

The main issue I have with some of the things he posts with the "vetted" tag, is when he jumps the gun with misinformation, only to later correct it. That is only a pattern with him when it comes to Sony.

Just a bit of friendly advice. You don't want the mods here to think that your spreading false information on purpose. I asked them a while back what they would do with Insiders that do that and they told me it would end up in a straight up ban.
While we appreciate our insiders and developers sharing information with us I don't believe none of us will tolerate being mislead by them. Just make sure you double check your information before sharing.
