That Vawn ban was uncalled for. Yeah, i know he has a bad reputation and no doubt it was ultimately going to end in a perm, but that was a funny good comment and 60 people agree.
Thankfully we don't moderate on reaction scores. We gave Vawn every chance and they were wasted. They obviously don't care enough to contribute honestly and we're not running round after them, like a baby with no nappy shitting everywhere. These are grown adults. Again, this post is an 'example' of what they were banned for. Vawn has quite a significant entry in the ban logs and warning list on the account. The decision was not taken lightly and it is justified. If Vawn wants to appeal with a suitable, contrite and honest acceptance of their petty attitude and warrioring, and how they will change, they are welcome to email the support address.
And this is the part that's difficult for the Mods. Vawn was on a perm warning, so when characters with questionable morals report Vawn, the mods do what they should do; react to the reports. They see Vawn has had a load of warnings and react accordingly. But then how do you 'back-peddle' now, only to give him a possible perm in a months time?
Mods do not act on a single report. They look at any reports that come in and then comb through the users recent activity for patterns and honest engagement. The same is afforded to all posters. Then previous warnings, recent bans etc are all taken into account. Then a final decision is made. So, if Vawn had a scrupulous three months and this popped up, then likely it would be treated differently. Vawn has already had five bans, the most recent being on October 5th until October 19th. That, in itself, was an escalation from a ban that lasted 3 days within the same month. All for the same behaviour. The goodwill has been burned and they have noone to blame but themselves.
Even worse is that Concern openly says he's going to report him, which should be a bannable offense in itself as it's incendiary (did i just do a ree?)
Yes, this
is a ree. Hitting report does not guarantee it will be acted on. In fact, it can also get you banned for spam reporting innocuous posts, it can also lead to your reporting privileges being removed or the report can be filed as rejected. Plus, the user might not actually hit report after saying they will.
Was curious, looked it up.
I agree, was clever and harmless. I know, cause that’s the type of joke I’d make. Better watch myself, don’t like feeling constrained.
Edit: just read ban reason and it cumulative, not just that one - so there’s more to the story. But it’s an odd one to seal the deal.
You have no warnings on your account, but then you don't try and antagonise people or cause console wars. The differentiation between jokes and point scoring is obvious. Your aim is probably to be light hearted, not post things to cause console wars or drama. Or try to sell everyone a Dualsense multiple times. The difference is easy to spot even for those trying to hide in plain sight. Just ask yourself the question, why is it the same people, who do the same things, to get the same warnings and eventually banned? Why is it some people can laugh and joke fine and have no warnings at all? Why do some people pay no attention to mods telling them now is the time to calm it down? We respect the battle, but then you have to respect the consequences as well. Everybody gets enough chances, some more than warranted in most cases.
