I’ve mostly been lurking Resetera for awhile (because god forbid you risk posting an opinion) but today I really got disgusted by their behaviour to Alec Holowca and contribution to driving a man to suicide. An insane bubble of virtue signallers

Hi all,
So, it actually took me a while to work up the courage to post this here. But, the current account I have is not the original account I signed up with NeoGAF with. Most of you know me as my current username here, but I was originally Thabass before my account was perma'd. It was justifiably perma'd, at least at the time I thought it was, but I wanted to clear the air since it's been on the back of my mind for a while now.
I'm not asking for the account to be unbanned or anything, but I felt that it was important to get it off my chest. Hell, I'm half expecting to be banned for making this post lol

I said something to the effect of the person who created political correctness should be lynched or something to that effect. When I made the post, I immediately regretted it and tried to edit. But it was too late. It was caught by someone and quoted and soon I was banned.
Everyone can get heated and cross a line sometimes. You took it back immediately, understandable. Looks like besada was eager to move in for the kill on this one. I've merged your old account into your current one so that you get your post history and achievements.

At a certain point people became disposable. They had a long lineup waiting at the gate so for everyone they frivolously banned 2 or 3 more juniors would take their place and those juniors would be easier to indoctrinate, or they could be banned for no reason.
It was a numbers game, playing the odds.
I don’t believe there was any actual human cost thought involved, for some of the old mods.

Yeah I was. I didn’t actually follow them to Ree, I followed my cousins because we were together in everything. Couldn’t stand it at all. The majority ditched Ree and only one stayed there

Charlequin quietly reshaped the community at every opportunity with bans like these, mainly on gaming side. He was the main guy banning everyone for wrongthink in the Anita threads et al. Unlike besada, he never mentioned his ideological leanings though, and in discussions and logging he always found other reasons for his bans that would seem legitimate on the surface. Nefarious guy.
