As a Nintendo fan, I’ve had to listen to dimwits tell me I play kids games for decades.

Just roll with the punches. Point and laugh. Know that anyone thinking they are “more mature” by engaging in console wars is hilariously contradictory. Give it back, but don’t stoop to their level.

They are literally made for children though. I don't see why people like you can't just accept that. Your nintendo games and shitty disney movies are all made for kids.

Maybe some whiney 20-something console warrior child may enjoy something like this last level of Super Mario 3D World:


But most would probably be too whiney for that. I think it is unlikely these games are exclusively aimed at children though. Your non-stop console warring is more than slightly tiresome.

Look at the Politics sub: some of the most “civil” posters are also the most dishonest. I think in terms of moderation it’s best to leave most forms of speech/discourse on the table and let it sort itself out organically. Sometimes the best way to deal with a dishonest troll is to insult/mock them, but you can’t do that if mean words are banned. Then the trolling spirals out of control because you’ve removed its natural predator from the ecosystem.

TL;DR instead of requesting more bans (top-down authoritarian moderation), learn how to shut the behaviours down yourself (bottom-up peer moderation).

I think somewhere in the middle is the answer. The problem for me is that the blocking solution actually favors the people who are shit posting. Because they block the people who challenge them but continue to post and respond to people still filling threads with garbage. I have done my best to call people out on their bullshit posts but eventually all they have to do is block me and then then continue on their merry way shit posting.

Theres people that I can call out by name and feel the difference between someone being a dick for the sake of being a dick and someone who's just being stubborn because they don't like something. To me there's a difference with that and in my experience the people just being hard headed will at least not be trolly and be dismissive vs being a trolly dick that dances around the "rules" to not get banned.

At the very least temp bans need to happen imo. For the sake of at least getting some clarity on the person and seeing if they will actually come back in a more civil manner or will continue to just be a troll. Because if they want to actually have discussions about gaming and debate in a healthy way they will change their attitude. And if they don't then it will be clear and we can get them to leave for good.

I haven't been in the politics thread so I cannot comment on that but from my experience in there to me its a different beast as politics in general cause different types of discussions VS video games.

Sometimes I want to use the report feature when even I think all a user (they) does is lowtierposting everyweek. But that would just give a user the idea they got to me or something. Then I think (ponder even!) about the fun bans we have had here and would rather they provide entertainment. Is that wrong?

I remember when Bishop was mass banning people. I was just a lurker back then, but it was obvious what was going on. That guy has serious issues.

He also can't write for shit. Have you read his summary for that dinosaur book? Lol. It's literally like a middle schooler wrote it.
