***NeoGAF: BELIEVE*** - The OFFICIAL NeoGAF Guild For World of Warcraft

think I'll make a toon hunter for the hell of it, they're fun :)

They are. Along with my pally the only other class I've made on the server is a hunter. More of a "bank" than anything but if the need comes to level another low level, hunter it is.

I can't believe you would do such a thing.

you're right I didn't.

I do need to go on him to ask guildies to invite my other characters into the guild.

Guildies ignore me though :\

I could get you in right now if you're free.

Took a few days off for Skyrim and TOR beta weekend. Will be back refreshed and ready to trudge through Northrend. =x

Did MC yesterday with a mage as my partner. I was going for the Judgement set legs (paladin) from old Ragnaros. After a long drawn out fight with the firehound boss, I just decided to kill the boss and wipe after looting. The adds kept respawning and i couldn't figure out the mechanic. Rag dropped plate legs and I was excited until it turned out to be the warrior's legs :( I hope someone here is down for weekly BWL runs so we can get tier 2 sets to transmorg.

Same. Will be back soon, school has picked up again, have another research paper to do and then finals. But I'll be in and out.

Researched Glyph of Berserker Rage today if anyone wants one. I'll put a couple in the guild bank; if they run out just PM me your character name and I'll send you one.

I'll let you guys know when I learn something else...

Had a really long streak of BG wins with Boxeymoney this past night. Certainly 5+ before an embarrassing loss in WSG. Healing is really strong in larger BGs, but just doesn't tend to be as generally effective with a smaller group (and with the terrain of WSG) as a druid at least.

forgot how fun DK's can be, it's been a love/hate relationship with some of their stuff but now it's back to pure love <3

It's been so long since I leveled mine. I may have to reroll one to see how they play leveling up now. I mean, I was leveling when you still had the talent that let you rez as a ghoul for 30ish seconds after dying.

they took that away? :O

Yeah, going blood, the most survival of surviving talents. Self healing ftw

That was patched out fairly early. Before 3.1 even I think. Certainly by then if not before.

Looking back, it's kind of silly that they got rid of it. I don't remember if it had a cooldown, but if it did (of 5-10 minutes), it's not like it would be any better than a pally bubble or similar. You were definitely weaker than normal.

Although now since they got rid of that, and changed Raise Ally to a true battle rez, there is no player-controlled ghoul anymore. With Claw/Gnash, Explode, and maybe another ability or two.

Speaking of which, would be need if you could explode your summoned ghoul as Unholy at least for extra damage.

yeah the new patches changed a lot since I last played. DK being far and away the class I went longest without playing.

is it still Unholy for PVP and Blood for PVE/Leveling? I sucked at unholy for pvp :\

No, it's Unholy for leveling. Frost for dps and PvP at 85. Unholy is great in PvP at 85. Blood is tanking only. And its damage is terribad. Leveling as blood would be the slowest and most agonizing of the three specs by far. Sure you never die, but neither to your enemies. It's like leveling as a Holy Paladin.

edit: Blood is good in leveling as a 2nd spec to whip out when you want to kill something that hits like a truck. It'll wear out any elite you come across that Unholy or Frost simply won't stand up to.

Also, use a 2hander for Unholy and Blood. Dual wield 1handers for Frost.

seriously? Unholy for leveling? Hmmm...

I bought dual spec so I'll put the second spec Unholy

Thanks pal!

Whenever I played a DK - I only played for a short time mind you - I went Unholy for leveling/PVP. This was during WOTLK though. I don't have a single clue about how you work them now.

done and done, now to get into some combat to try it out, outlands here I come.

Seems good, any rotation tips though?

I rolled a BE Pally for laughs here. It'll be a nice change of pace from my normal routine. I'll keep an eye out for you guys while playing, though I'm usually on quite late. If you see a pally named Teeheehee running around, that's me!

Oh, if any of you see me on and want to fire over an invite, just whisper first. I keep invites blocked most of the time so I'm not inundated with blind invites. XD

I'm lvling my DK as frost and with a 2h. It's pretty strong, stuff dies with a few hits, especially if i have a Killing Machine proc + you have the talent for improving your mount speed by 20%, which is much more useful while lvling than a permanent ghoul.

Frost 2h is the leveling spec. You do good damage, get bonus to mounted speed, plus every couple minutes you can lichborne + death coil to heal yourself up.

I don't even have Lichborne on my lvling frost DK. :P The glyph of Dark Succor is enough to keep me at 100% health between every pulls. Its not like there is many other useful major glyphs for this spec anway.

I just hit Northrend today, went at 68. So far I've found it rather painful given I'm still sporting mostly Hellfire/Zanga gear... Being a tank helps a little but damn if I'm not in desperate need of new gear.
I think my heal set only has 7k mana and that's buffed. Shouldn't it be nearer to 10k by now? lol

What was everyone's experience like when stepping into the first couple of instances coming straight out of Outlands?
I wanna run UK but I'll probably need to wait a little.

Btw, 2h Frost is awesome. The only DK I've played to 70 is that spec and I loved it. Seems very capable of pumping out a lot of damage in a short time. I couldn't get into the other specs.

If you're trying to tank, check the AH for the cobalt tanking set. It's pretty good for you to start tanking once you hit lvl 70, and its not very expensive. You can keep questing between lvl 68-70 to find some decent weapon, necklace, rings and cloak with lots of stamina until you get blue tanking items from dungeons. But some blue tanking items like cloak wont drop until Violet Hold(75). =/ I had the blue dps cloak from a Nexus quest for 5 lvls lol.

Yeah, 2H frost is completely viable for leveling as well. Forgot about that. I've always liked Unholy for leveling because of the permanent pet. It's a good damage source and a good health refill in a tight spot.

2H Frost is how I went from 80-85, even though I switched to dual-wield almost immediately after. Really good leveling spec. Was something like the 25th or 26th DK on my server to hit 85. I can look it up on wowprogress for specifics. I kind of enjoyed those leveling rankings.

Ooh, forgot about the tanking set. Thanks for the advice!

Good news!

http://www.wowheadnews.com/blog=197676/world-of-warcraft-turns-seven

World of Warcraft turns seven on November 23, 2011! It’s been a truly incredible seven years, and we’d like to thank you all for joining us for yet another fantastic year. To celebrate, players who log into the game between November 20 and December 3 will earn a feat of strength added to their Achievements and a “Celebration Package” item. Using your item will get the celebrations rolling by shooting off fireworks*, applying a (visual only) tabard to your character, and granting a 7% bonus to experience and reputation gains while active.

We look forward to another year of adventures ahead and many more to come!

*Please observe all goblin and gnome fire hazard warnings and celebrate responsibly.

I wonder if the item is BoP or BoA. And if it has a duration, like some of the holiday items. Still, will be nice for cranking out a few more levels, even if the rep bonus isn't very significant to make much use of on my max level characters.

I imagine any toon you log in on will get it.

And yes, it has a duration from Nov 20 - Dec 3

For those that don't know, the world event Pilgrim's Bounty starts the 20th. It lasts a week and is by far the easiest way to level your cooking to 300. Unless you couple it with fishing, cooking is really difficult to level IMO so take this opportunity to level it if you care to.

well it says my subscription card thing is already up yet I didn't sign up with a subscription card so...i guess my CC is maxed out again.

No more WoW for me. And I haven't the patience to play any old games at the moment. So I'm bored.

Did we hit level 3 yet? I've been wanting to do some dungeons runs but haven't been on with a third 70.
I'll probably end up waiting for 4.3 to level anyway as they're supposed to be reducing the Northrend xp then.

Thanks for the heads-up! It's crazy how easy it is to do this, it feels like I'm cheating!

Yah, we hit level 3 last night.

I'm up for randoms whenever I'm on. At my level, that means getting Uth. Keep evey single random, though. Still enjoying tanking.

I've never used the random dungeon finder at level 68-69 before. It's great.......Durnholde and Sethekk Halls over and over again.

You should just quest in Northrend at this point, the green items from the quests are much better, not to mention the XP.

I'm doing just dungeon finder and it been like this the last couple of levels:

68-69: Uth Keep
70-71: Uth Keep, Nexus
72: Nexus, Ajol-Nerub
73: Nexs, Ajol-Nerub, Forgotten Kingdom

You know, I this feeling while playing Skyrim last night. "Stop. Something else is coming."

Come home from work today and BAM. Patch 4.3 is dropping with shorter xp between 71-80. Looking forward to it. =D

Me too. The xp drop is the best thing about it imo. Also I love that they're dropping the quest npcs inside the dungeons now. Save us from missing out on doing them.

Pushing through the last couple levels in Northrend is so hard though when you know awesome Cata zones are around the corner. I dunno if even the XP drop will help motivate me to go from 78 to 80. Really wish I could just hop into Vash or Hyjal already. Even if I dislike Vash to some extent, it's still better than Icecrown or Storm Peaks, at least now I would probably regard it that way.

I'll probably quest though, as I haven't quested since ~74, and not very much at all in Northrend overall. It shouldn't be too terrible.
