I will say that back in 2021 we didn't have the most secure method for tallying scores so that may have taken advantage of that at the time. That's why we developed an internal system for GOTY voting.
I think in the end though Elden Ring gave some of the most breathtaking moments I've had in a video game, and that elevates it a bit above the rest in my view.
Walking out of the castle into Liurnia for the first time, climbing out of the depths after Astel and realizing you're on the top of that plateau you've been searching for a path to the entire game, the constant surprise and "wtf how big is this game" every time the map expands…
There is something truly special about Elden Ring.
Loved both ER and BG3, but I gotta give it to the feet fetish man from japan, ER was just firing on all cylinders for me, whereas the act 3 of BG3 felt like the game was unravelling before my eyes, it was buggy and littered with various other technical issues.
