Is there a twitter app that fetches your timeline on a schedule? I've tried the twitter app and tweetbot, but I can't seem to find any apps that will fetch every hour or so (eg seesmic on android)? Alternatively, am I missing something?

No, it's not possible for an app to do this without requiring a jailbreak. There are limits on which apps can run in the background (e.g. playing audio, tracking location, VOIP), Twitter apps can't run in the background.

Units is a really useful app for conversion in my opinion.

Edit: how do you get an Auth code for Steam for imo? I imagine that thing is trustworthy if you guys suggested it as the best chat app.

works for Gamestop (lol)
Flipboard is now out for iPhone. Get it, it's awesome

Flips vertically btw, not side to side like the iPad version

flipboard seems to be working properly now.

Fucking amazing. I didn't think they could get it working right for iphone. So simple to use!

Swipe down, swipe up, swipe left to go back.

Reeder maybe more efficient, but man this makes catching up on news much more pleasant.

I think it's the best simple aggregation of news and social shit all in one pretty format. It works as something to use to check headlines I think, better than a timeline of news. For that, I use feedly.

Love how clean and polished the XBOX live app is on both iPhone and iPad.

I think MS could really make a killer Windows 8 Tablet with the Metro UI. Really looking forward to what they bring out.

Is there any iOS app tat lets me read ms word annotations on my iPhone and iPad (iPhone is more important.)

I know instapaper is listed as best in the OP, but what are people's opinions on read it later? It appears to be on sale for 2.99 right now. Are they comparable, or is instapaper really head and shoulders ahead?

I should add that I realize instapaper is mainly text. I'm looking for ease of use opinions and the like. Thanks!

RIL is just as good as Instapaper. I have an account for both and used to use Instapaper (when they had the free version of the app out) but for some reason I switched. I mean, they both do the same thing, so get RIL because it is cheaper. Or get RIL's free version and see if you like it.

Ya, I actually bought mine on Monday. Definitely worth it but stinks sometimes the way the ios App Store works.

Well to be fair, Tweetbot never had a sale before. But since the official app sucks right now, guess now is best time than any. Still worth the full price

How do you group Contacts into groups on Verbs?

Is there a better app than StreamToMe for streaming MP3s from my my Mac to my iPhone? I wish AirVideo worked with music files too...

What's the best app for steaming music for free please? I've forgot my iPod at work, and a noisy open plan office is annoying. Needs some music, otherwise I'll just load YouTube on my work PC and get in trouble D: ty

I really like Flipboard but why will it only allow me to have 4 pages worth of stuff? Why should they limit that, what's it to them how many pages I want to flip through?
It would be like Twitter only letting you follow 50 people.

I've had Flipboard in my iPad since I got the iPad 9 months ago.
Still, I don't find myself using it very often.
I think it's very cool to check pictures from Instagram and Flickr, but I don't get why would I read my rss feeds in a "magazine" format (in which I have to *look for* the news that interest me), as opposed to a more "linear" format (for example, Pulse in the iPad, or Reeder in the iPhone, in which finding news I'm interested in reading seems much more easy).

What do you guys think Flipboard has over other rss readers (besides its very pretty and slick)?

Well, it's an excellent aggregation of top news in specific topics, for those who don't want to be bothered scrolling through dozens of headlines from one particular site.

It's the only thing I can think of that allows simple and smooth viewing of hot news centered on specific topics rather than specific sites, like most RSS readers.

It has its base, I think, but for me feedly will always be useful as well. I think the words here are 'convenience' and 'timesaver'.

So you'd say, to put it simple, that Flipboard and Feedly shoud be used when I want to read news about a subject (for example, "apple", or "tech" from different sites), and Reeder and Pulse when I want to read news from a specific site?
