Thanks for the Navfree recommendation Enco - worked a treat!

Off to Florida in a month or so... same question applies - would Navfree be okay for that? Also slightly OCD, but can anyone please also recommend another decent/cheap satnav software for Florida? Just in case for whatever reason Navfree doesn't work (can you tell I'm really dependant on sat navs? :D)
Glad to hear it!

Well the official Apple maps should be out in iOS 6 by then so you could use that? Not sure how it works but it should be out in a week or two so you could try it then.

Not sure about US maps though I'm afraid.

I really wish Youtube had an auto background streaming and looping option. I mean, having to double tap home and then press play each time I leave the app and when the song finishes is frustrating.

Hi guys, I've been using Air Media Center & Air Video apps to stream video off my shared folders in my desktop PC through wi-fi to my iPad. They both require a small server application to be installed to my PC that requires a password to access my PC's files to play on my iPad.

I am searching for an app that offers the same kind of functionality, but this time for my collection of PDF's, mobi's, zips & rars of books & comics.

Has anyone here know of such an app? BTW, I'd rather not jailbreak.

That's a good idea, thanks Enco, although I love having a jailbroken device, and I was planning on leaving this one as it is until I get a new iPhone (was hoping to get one while I'm out there)

Also, wouldn't iOS 6 maps rely on data?

Well, Reeder has now completely stopped working with feedafever for me. I've tried deleting the app, reinstalling it, doing a hard and soft reboot of the device before and after installing, enabling/disabling "refresh on startup", and nothing works. It says it is "syncing" for about 3 seconds, then stops, and nothing gets updated.

I really wish there was another app that had Fever integration.

Despite the new YouTube app's limitations, it's still way better than the default.

Sucks about the lack of iPad version, though. Come on, YouTube!

Eh, who needs it?

The stock iPad app works fine and has a feature the new app doesn't... No ads.

They're both missing this function:

Interesting: A few days ago I bought Galaxy on Fire 2 for my iPad. Of course it also appeared on my iPhone. I have neither touched my iPad since then nor even started the game on my phone, but all of a sudden on the phone he app's icon is transparent and the label says "Waiting...", like it's redownloading it. Due to lack of WiFi when I noticed this, it didn't do anything.

Not sure if it requires data.

Maybe someone else can answer that. It might do though.

Check your Settings -> Store -> Automatic Downloads?

Sorry if I didn't express myself clearly enough. Automatic Downloads are on, the game was downloaded on the iPhone completely seconds after I got it on the iPad. After several days without playing it at all, the phone was suddenly attempting to download it again.

Whoops, I read your post wrong.

I personally have Auto Downloading off, does that function re-download an app when it gets an updated version?

I got recommended av player hd, so that i can put non mp4 videos onto the ipad. I tried looking for it on the app store and it said not available in US app store, anyone know what happened to it. Any other alternatives?

Try Oplayer or TTplayer both are good.

Twitter updated its iPad app to 5.0, just from first impressions I'm not liking it as much as the old version. It doesn't seem as optimised for the screen size, but it's not bad or anything.

Also a small update on the iPhone version. Profile view looks better, aside from the horrendous black box housing your profile picture on both devices. It's a bit better on the iPhone since it's smaller, but it's just an eyesore on the iPad version.

Twitter still has a long way to go to match Tweetbot. I don't think they ever will.

Good enough for me. It's free, and does what I need it to do. Design choice at the moment is questionable, but it works.

Twitter isn't integral or important enough for me (yet?) to considering a premium option.

The new Twitter app is something of an improvement, but if you're any sort of regular user/browser of the service, most definitely do yourself a favour and snap up Tweetbot while it's on sale. It's immeasurably better in every way that counts.

I like Flipboard's integration of tweets that contain pictures. How does tweetbot compare in this regard?
It displays them in the timeline view, but it's not really comparable to Flipboard. It's a standard Twitter client, albeit much more feature rich than the built in iOS client.
