Fair enough. It's a personal thing that, as a cosplayer, I struggled with for a long time (probably too long). I don't like her original stuff at all, but she is a fine cosplayer and a nice lady that's probably in a weird spotlight more often than she'd like and more than she is probably aware of.

Yeah she seems pretty self aware, and there is a lot to be said for accurate cosplay but there's lots of room for fan interpretations. Is that still cosplay? I dunno, I'll keep looking though, perhaps sooner or later I will figure it out

And it's not like I'm against any personalization with cosplay, far from it. One of the things that really bugged me a year ago was looking at her photosets and putting her Gears of War picture next to her Sonya, one original, one not, and simply not being able to figure out why I didn't like the Gears outfit, but I thought the Sonya costume was okay. Then putting the normal Juliette picture on one side, and the super sexualized costume that had to be original to work in reality next to it, and tried to figure out why I hated how the original looked. I've been doing this for 8 years, I figure I should be able to answer these questions, but, for this case especially, I couldn't. It just has to do with her style, the way that her custom made stuff is designed, or rather the stuff that she changes to fit her personal style, always seems to be kind of...trashy to me.
I dunno, opinions. Often bad ones. I should work on my own stuff more if I have time to criticize other people.

I have seen plenty of this in Asia. It's probably new here in the west though.
As someone who is married to some one who used to cosplay/make cosplay for a living, I have seen a lot of the inner circle to this.

My first trip to Katsucon was fun. Left with over a thousand new pictures since I stayed out later than usual to keep on shooting on just about every day of the event. Unfortunately, that means I'm still bogged down working on Saturday's pics when I normally would be all done by now. Anyway, Thursday and Friday sets are at least online, so...

Yeah I'd like to cosplay more but I don't look like anyone which makes it kind of difficult.
Right. People always throw out a bunch of random characters but I never have any interest unless they're of similar body type (I'm not the tallest person in the world but I'm too tall for kid characters too), have a face kind of like mine (I've got damn near no cheeks and some pretty dark, shadowed eyes), and I actually give two shits about the character.
I think I could pull off Jaffar from Fire Emblem (GBA) but damn is he old now.
But god damn if he isn't my favorite FE character.
Hell, I'd love to see that. No problem with it being old since he's in the new FE as a guest character.

Yep I remember spending over 40 hours constantly resetting his recruitment chapter in order to nab him. Most badass character in a japanese game by far.

Okage cosplay?! Now I've seen everything. Great coverage, DTJAAAAM. I'm hoping our 3DS systems exchange Streetpass data again at this year's San Diego Comic-Con!
Second Okage cosplay I've seen, but the more the merrier! I don't really check my StreetPasses as often at cons since I got disillusioned when my Mii Plaza hit the cap, but I've always got it out to broadcast my data. Can't wait for SDCC, just hoping I'll be there for all of it this year.
