I'll be up at Anime Revolution in Vancouver, BC this weekend, and then Dragoncon at the end of the month. Might finally do a shoot I've been hoping to do for a loooooong time at AR with one of my favorite cosplayers, so you'll see the pictures if it works out!

Just a few pics from Otakon. Unfortunately we couldn't take many pics or even admire the other cosplayers really; we both had gloves and masks on making it hard to see and also hard to handle the camera.
This is my wife as The White Witch and that's me as Shadar, villains from Ni No Kuni. We don't know the Oliver cosplayer irl but she was cool and made her Mitey herself! Way better than the Apus I made
that's all I have that are good enough to share. I wish DTJAAAAM was here to take pictures for all of us ;_:

Just wondering, anyone going to San Japan.
So I've been at Otakuthon in Montreal and:
A. There was a fully functional Dalek prop whose pilot trash-talked people in his path in the usual speech pattern of the Daleks.
B. Stealing a page from that GAF poster in this topic with the alpaca Garrus, I've asked some cosplayers to wail on my prized Yui Hirasawa plushie (or in the case of the Dalek and the children's TARDIS playset, I've exploited the time their pilots were away). The results vary from sensible to character assassination to blatant insanity (notably, the Luigi/Boo Mario ones were not the ideas of the cosplayer nor mine, but of someone else in the crowd...):

Japan Expo USA is this weekend, not so jazzed about the 6 hour drive, but the Guest of Honors make it worth it.
As a Cosplay photographer I am embarrassed by the show. All that b-roll of Anime Expo being passed as Wizard World was embarrassing as hell. They also focus on Masquerade which is what 99.999% of cosplayers don't do at conventions. The sweeping statements about conventions giving thousands of dollars in prizes is also incorrect. Anime expo and other cons give money prizes, but they started rolling back when they realized it doesn't improve masquerade quality.

I know, man. Seeing the cool stuff I missed makes me soooooo jelly! The day job interfered with my con time, and I just couldn't justify buying a round-trip ticket across the country and back for just a single day of shooing. You guys did awesome on the costumes, BTW!
I'm actually enjoying Heroes of Cosplay, but I wouldn't say I'm watching it for the same reasons as most people. I just want to relive old memories from past cons (apparently I was at quite a few of the ones on the show) and play Where's Waldo with all the familiar faces that I've seen when on the road. I'm also getting a good laugh out of all the overplayed drama and historical inaccuracies, like the Anime Expo footage being passed off as the Portland Convention Center and Yaya's rush to finish her Fiora costume for Wizard World Portland when she already wore it at Katsucon the week prior.
Anyway, remember me mentioning a shoot at Anime Revolution? Well, I've tried to work hard to earn the right to do this for a long time and that moment did indeed happen over the weekend:
I'll do a proper recap of Anime Revolution as soon as I get all the pics done, which thankfully won't take as long as SDCC!

Wacky Races. Penelope Pitstop was one of the characters in the cartoon (and then she got her own cartoon as well).
