Who are the majority of Dragon Ball fans according to you Jaxword? It's certainly not the Japanese since the first anime series had higher ratings than Z.

That movie's failure to strike money at the box office has little to do with it being an adaptation of the earlier portion of the story. If it was Z, and had a bigger budget to accommodate it, but still suffered through the reshoots, lack of marketing, and only being made to fulfill contracts it probably would've only done marginally better percentage wise. I'm sure a lot of people went into DBE expecting Z and didn't get that, but if it was a good enough movie I don't think that would've mattered.

Dragonball is not even remotely close in popularity to Z with Western audiences. You know this.

It was foolish from the start to base it on the less-popular aspects of the franchise.

I at least hope they don't. Not one of the Goku fans that need him to be more powerful, but I don't want it to focus on a character that doesn't bother to train and just sits on his ass and is given the title of most powerful for no reason.

Well they've been building Gohan up since the start. It's only the beginning of the Buu saga that completely tampered with that (completely unnecessary), by having made Gohan into a bookworm.

And that's why I dislike the Buu saga so much, it's so inconsistent. Toriyama really went off the deep end - Cell Saga being the absolute height of the series.

And I didn't mind Gohan's explosion of power on Namek, or that he was the one that defeated Cell and went SSJ2 first.

I never liked the character, but I only grew to hate him and his power in Buu Saga because they way he is just handed such a crazy power boost that effectivly destroys all need/hype of Goku getting SSJ3 and all because he sits on the ground for 24 hours while some old dude holds his hands out infront of him.
