New Dragon Ball movie announced

I thought Gohan made out pretty well in the grand scheme of things. He was successful, married an awesome wife who's the daughter of a millionaire super-celebrity, and seems to be successful on his own right. And even if he didn't measure up to Buu, he's still far and away one of the strongest people in the universe. And he spends his time moonlighting as a superhero.

Sounds like the good life to me.

Gohan in HS wasn't filler either. Well at least the idea of it, they might have added to it to make it longer or something.

People shouldn't hate it just because the natural evolution of Gohan's behavior is to turn into the wimp that he's always been, save one time.

And I kind of liked it, it's in the same vain of the Goku driving episode. It has the characters interacting with normal people which rarely happens.

That's like if Goku went back to being bad. Can't expect people to want that.

What? That barely happened in the show. There was just a flashback in one episode where they said oh yeah you were bad for a bit then bumped your head.

That doesn't even come close to being comparable

We saw Gohan be a wimp/crybaby/liability for 2 and a half arcs.

Gohan's progression from what he once was, to what he became is one thing people like about the character. It doesn't make sense to go back to square one at the drop of the hat. I don't even see how it improves the ratings, they clearly could have made Goku the spotlight without killing another character.

Gohan has never been killed in DBZ right? (Outside of the Future Trunks timeline).
He dies from Kid Buu's attack after he's saved by Goku and Vegeta while unconscious. (The whole purpose Vegito went inside Buu's body)

Apparently Goku couldn't concentrate enough to use instant transmission to save him either.

No Goku choose to save Dende and MrSatan because they were closer or something.

Had he had of brought Gohan's group instead to Kaioshin's planet then Goku, Vegeta, Gotenks and Gohan could of all teamed up and killed Kid Buu but noooooo.

Hell even after they got wished back Supreme Kai could of teleported to Earth, grabbed them and took them to his planet to help out with the battle bit didnt.

Bahhhh anyway....

You know whats funny?

You know when Cell was going to blow himself up so Goku used instant transmission to send him and Cell to King Kai's planet.

Why didn't Goku just use instant transmission to get back to Earth? He just kinda stood there while Cell blew up.

It never made sense but it's a cartoon where a lot of things that happens didn't make sense.

It's all played up for drama. If you really think about it in the context of the real world, these people lack a lot of things mentally. Most noticeably sensible decision making.

In the anime it looks like he just stands there. In the manga Cell pretty much blows up two seconds later.

Heh, I guess. Its always like that in the anime.

Freeza telling Goku that Namek would blow up in 5 minutes.

3 hours later and it is still going. I'm sure it was different in the manga because there is no real sense of time I guess in those. So 5 minutes really was 5 minutes.

Negative. He couldn't use instant transmission which could have saved everyone.

In the part where he saves Hercule and Dende, he doesn't lose his progression.

Why? Convenient resolutions.

Not really. I wonder if they go SSJ3 crazy with this film. I heard some people suggest SSJ3 Goku vs. SSJ3 Vegeta, no interruptions. Not sure what the plot would be to make that happen. Maybe a Tenkaichi Budokai?

Vegeta vs. Goku for 1.5 hours would be cool.

Therefore, it'll never happen.

Hopefully the villain is not some asshole who can regenerate.

Those are always the worst.

This.

Cell was kinda acceptable since he was still hurt badly and his energy dropped alot after each time he regenerated but that bastard Buu kept coming back from nothing.

this show is not Breaking Bad why is it not Breaking Bad? it should be Breaking Bad dammit Breaking Bad
I'm terribly excited, quick someone get me a sensu bean?!

Honestly this would be nothing but a buzz kill to me.

While I love some Goku Vs Vegeta, the final arc of Buu's best moments was Vegeta's thoughts and finally accepting Goku's power while SSJ3 Goku fought Kid Buu.

Just randomly giving Vegeta SSJ3 and having him fight equal with Goku at it would do nothing but unravel that entire section of Vegeta's character growth. I hated GT and just giving Vegeta SSJ4 and having him suddenly be equal in power to Goku despite Goku having it much longer and training with it.

I definitely get what you mean. But we no doubt know Vegeta won't stop training. He will have to hit SSJ3 eventually. I was going to suggest something would come along (ala possession) that would encourage Vegeta to challenge Goku, but we've already seen that twice (Babidi and Baby) lol.

Cell got stronger when he regenerated.

After Cell blew up King Kai's planet, yes.
But Cell's power level was rapidly decreasing when fighting Goku and he was very weak after being blown in half from the instant transmission kamehameha. He didn't recover from that feeling all cheery and stronger than ever.

Vegeta getting SSJ3 wouldn't bother me. Hell I would actually be alot happier with that then how he gave it to Gotenks. The problem is, even if Vegeta trained and gained the form it wouldn't matter as there is no way to try and have Goku give up training, let alone when he was training with one of the most powerful beings in all of existence.

It's the fighting on equal ground I have a problem with. At this point not only do we the viewers know that Goku will always be stronger then Vegeta, but even Vegeta knows it and has grown mature enough to accept it and move on.

No, Vegeta no longer desired to surpass Goku. He would still train and get stronger, but, he no longer had a goal to surpass Goku, because he knew in the end he would never surpass Goku.

Toriyama changed the ending in the 2002 kanzenban manga:

Vegeta: Sooner or later, Kakarrot, I WILL show you defeat... Hmph!

It could happen!

Because at the end of the day Vegeta will always be Goku's rival. He may accept that he'll never be as strong, but strength doesn't win every battle as Yajirobe once pointed out to him.

Fuck, why not make it happen after the GT series? We all know that goku will go super saiyan 4 at some point in the series, so it will be no surprise if he wins again. Only reason I liked dragonball was to see how Goku would become even more stronger each time and transform in to a higher level saiyan. In this film he'll not reach his ultimate level which is a drawback for me. I just hate movies that fall in between other movies / series.

Yes, but Toriyama specifically finished Vegeta's character arc with the final Buu saga and his acceptance of Goku's superiority. So Toriyama undid his own character development with one line.

I honestly think he just forgot he resolved Vegeta's character arc, he has admitted multiple times he just flat out forgets his own story half the time.

Seems to be common practice later on in DBZ.

They try to act like it didn't happen unless they're showing off the designs of the characters. DBGT bombed in Japan, and it's the reason it's so short.

GT is a black sheep in the franchise. There is very little in the way of GT branded merch. We're only getting that stuff in Dragon Ball Heroes at this point simply because there's no other established content to draw from. Like wise, we'll never ever see "Dragon Ball Kai" anything ever again.

I honestly think Toriyama is an ADHD, forgetful type and it's the EDITORS that keep him in line.

To put it another way: Without Yuu Kondou, the android saga would've ended with Gero and 19 as the main villains. Yuu told him the fat guy looked stupid and that eventually lead to Cell, who was far better.

And then as soon as Yuu left, we got Buu.

Toriyama is a genius, but man when he gets silly, he gets REAL silly, and likes drawing fat guys. Reminder that for a while in the late 90s/early 2000s he did a lot of blobby goofy designs:

I see, I liked GT a lot though.
Toriyama wasn't involved in making GT's story at all. Since this movie is supposed to have heavy inputs from Toriyama, it's only natural it's taking place at the end of Z.

Dragon Ball Online, which also had heavy involvements from Toriyama, flat-out retconned GT from existence, supposedly.
