The only thing the German dub did wrong was change the Gohan SSJ2 transformation music, really.

German dub is definitely the GOAT of all the dubs, in both music and voice acting. Also, the german opening themes are just the best, that's including the japanese.

You dub fans are missing out on these little quirks Goku as a character has. The dub completely ignores this. Schemmel also sounds like a normal joe which is completely different from Japanese Goku who sounds like a person that was raised in the woods. When Goku speaks you can tell he's a hick. In the dub he sounds nothing like that. He sounds just like a regular guy.

They made Goku sound like a proper gentleman that knows romance with his proposal when in reality it was anything but that. These things alter his character.

It's unfortunate but dude, I'm willing to bet most of us here don't speak Japanese fluently enough to tell that Goku's accent and speech pattern is different from the rest of the cast. He just sounds Japanese to me. ¯_(&#12484_/¯

That's true.

I guess the only way of knowing the difference is the lines being changed. Like Goku always says "Whatever" or "Oh well," but this is absent in the dub.

I guess I'm just baffled by funimation not taking those things into account.

TFS just nailed their casting. I'm not ashamed when I say that I prefer pretty much every single TFS VA over their respective funimation VA.

I'm not sure it's really worth comparing, since the two entities are really dissimilar. I'm not sure that Masako could do what Sean Schemmel does and vice versa. Love them both.

I'd buy a DBZ DVD if there was a "Team Four Star Dub" option, though, honestly. Sure, it's a better fit for comedic purposes, but I'd love to see Masako take on a serious Goku. Plus, Lani's Vegeta is hands-down my favorite VA for him.

I'd really rather watch it in my native language, especially since the BoG dub was great, but if it's not simulcast I'll probably watch it subbed.

Lani's Vegeta is god tier. I've said it in this thread numerous times but seriously if they can get official work I'd be so thrilled.

1. He was abducted as a toddler by Piccolo and got harsh training.
2. He travelled across the universe to fight Freeza.
3. He trained for years to fight the Androids.
4. Another year in the Time Chamber to fight Cell.

He only stopped training after he bested Cell and peace returned to Earth, since there was no pressing need for him to train and he was a teenager who just wanted to have a normal live in school like everyone else.

I feel the same way. My initial exposure to DB/DBZ was from VHS tapes and the SNES DBZ Butoden games my uncle sent me from Japan. TFS Goku just jives with Goku's overall personality better than Funi's, no disrespect.

I still remember getting super hyped when DBZ finally aired in the states and my first reaction was why the fuck does Piccolo sound constipated? Thankfully it grows you, the same with Vegeta, etc. Then Free... Frieza hit the scene. XD

TFS voice actors when it comes to acting are pretty bad, but I give them pass since it's a parody dub.

They're pretty much on par to the Season 3 Funi dub for me. The only actor who really impressed me was TFS Cooler and for what it's worth he actually got hired so good for him.

Most definitely wait for the dub. It's what I'm used to, it's good enough to not be annoying to me like other dubs, and if I like it in a language I understand I don't see the need to watch it in another.

I just hope they don't take a long ass time like a year to release it here. Hopefully they can get it on blu-ray pretty quickly and I can just watch it by season, it'll probably be the best way to enjoy DB nowadays.
