Now I know why Fox is putting the Deadpool trailer in front of this film.

It's a last desperate attempt to get people to see this potential disaster.

Opening weekend is projected at $40-50 million who wants to bet that estimate is going down after all these horrible reviews?

Not looking forward to Friday what a fucking mess.

Eh. The internet exists, so the trailer thing has to be a bit more exclusive. Deadpool really isn't a widely known character either.

I really think this will go down as one of the least memorable Marvel films, it doesn't do anything original or exciting enough to stand out. It's just a waste of time. Suddenly not too bothered about Josh Trank dropping out the Star Wars film now.

I had no idea Trank was even involved with Star Wars in the first place. How did that happen?

Thank you for your impressions of the film. I do find it interesting that you think Doom looks badass in this because his look in the film (from what was shown in trailers anyway) was derided practically 100% of the time. Is that his only form? Spoiler tag if necessary.

No you see him without his robe for a short while, he stomps around the place looking like a, illuminous green (it's kinda like he has green veins on metal) and black robot thing with very bright green eyes, then obviously he puts his robe back on.

I wonder... if this movie does shitty (both critically and commercially), does Fox even want to associate these characters with the X-Men? I always figured that if F4 didn't do great, the next step would be a crossover with X-Men to try and elevate those characters to the level of the X-Men.

But from the looks of it... F4 might drag the X-Men brand down, after it worked so hard to get to the great spot it's at right now after X3/Wolverine Origins.

The only logical thing they can do is give the rights back to Marvel ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The box office numbers for the movie's opening weekend are likely gonna go down since the reviews got out early.

I haven't been this unexcited about a superhero movie in years.

I probably should freeze myself in liquid nitrogen until February 12th, 2016.

It's truly sad when the best Fantastic Four movie was made by Pixar.

I'll report back on Friday with my thoughts on the film, I bet Disney/Marvel are grinning in their executive offices....... ):

This is the only sort of films reviews would help, not hurt. Even so, they would need to be insane reviews to even generate any legs. I'd say the majority of the target audience,

A. Doesn't know this is coming out.
B. Thinks it looks incredibly bland if so.
C. Forgot that this is coming out.

I want gritty origins for every superhero's catchphrase now.
Johnny Storm was actually roommates with a young dork. Johnny wasn't really the nicest guy. In fact, he was a bully. One day, he decides to clean his asshole with his roommate's toothbrush. Eventually, he really started liking it and made it a habit.

Having sensed something was afoot, his roommate dipped the toothbrush in the hottest hot sauce he could find on Amazon. The next day, Nate his roommate hears a scream so loud, it couldn't be denied what had happened.

Nate He kicks the door open, finding Johnny vulnerable, brush in ass. He lets out a giant chuckle and yells "Flame On!" as their older roommate with a Grimm look on his face, nods in agreement..

Didn't like Chronicle, am definitely not gonna like this.

I hope this is in reference to what I think it is.

Is he imposing at all? We haven't seen a full body shot of him in any promo material.

in his non robe form he looks quite Intimidating, but no when he has his robe on he just looks like an average bloke with a bit of a weird limp. You mainly see him standing in a huge outdoor environment though so anyone is going to look quite small compared to the landscape.

Before I should go to bed as it's late here now, I just wanted to clarify when I say Doom is only in it for ten minutes, I mean that in just his evil form. The character of Victor himself is actually in it quite a lot despite barely being in the trailers.

Hopefully Marvel will get the rights back now so we can get a decent fucking movie and a decent fucking doom.

There are occasions when a panned movie ends up being really enjoyable to me but this likely won't be it

The trailers were about as dull as it gets and pretty much ensured I won't even bother watching this on cable

Hell, I rewatched chronicle a while back and while the concept was cool the movie wasn't good tbh. Trank just doesn't have it

Fox should cut this loose to get more xmen leverage from marvel. They're killing everybody else with their xmen movies imo

Welp.

I won't be watching this, but I don't believe it will actually be worse than the Tim Story movie. That thing was just embarrassing .

I think the fairest thing to say about Chronicle is that it was a true lightning-in-a-bottle film. Everything about it worked really well then, but trying to make it strike twice? Error.

Dodge logo on the Fantasticar probably ranks right below Cloud Galactus for the list of things I disliked about Rise of the Silver Surfer followed closely by the waste of Super Skrull-like sequence by the Human Torch.

However, it did give us a Dr. Doom suit up sequence. It was really refreshing to see a villain suit up for once and it was a fairly cool sequence by itself. It is too bad I now see Captain Holt from Brooklyn Nine-Nine get killed by Dr. Doom though.

Wait...this is the Chronicle guy? That film was more about Max Landis being able to write a fairly accessible real world superhero story, than anything to do with the direction of the film.

The effects work was very good on the budget they had, and the decision to use other cameras than Andrew's (turning it into a film that happened to use found footage rather than a traditional 'found footage film') added to the film's charm, I'd argue.

(Not to say that Landis wasn't just as important. I'm really looking forward to his take on Frankenstein)

A fantastic 4 movie sucks? who would've thought.
It's not so much the Fantastic Four being unable to produce a good film as it is Fox not knowing how to make a good Fantastic Four film. The Incredibles is still the best F4 film in existence & yet Fox can't seem to get Marvel's First Family right.

I remember hearing that Doctor Doom was going to be an angry blogger and I saw that garbage (literally) outfit and expected that to be the worst.

All fears confirmed. It's like that guy on Twitter said-they made no effort to hide the fact that this move was done to just spite Marvel and Disney.

Yeah, but it wasn't something to really leap off from though. Like, if I was considering him for his next gig to be something big, there would be plenty of serious question marks for him.

Also, not saying FF is entirely his fault either.

Well The Incredibles is the best F4 film because it happens to be one of the best super hero movies ever made.

I don't get how they can fuck up again. it's hilarious to see really.

So do you guys think Marvel essentially disowning the F4 in all other forms of media (besides the comics, even though they cancelled their main book & scattered the team across other books) will have any impact on the reboot's box office take? The negative reviews will likely do most of the work, but there's a chance that Marvel's refusal to promote the film in any way could land a hit on the film's potential profits.

It's like Fox is completely unable to get the team right. They had a good director, a good cast, & a good writer, and yet they still fucked it up. I guess it's time to call up Marvel Studios & cash out while the F4 are still worth anything.

Nah. Don't think that has any impact at all.

The whole 'promote an indie director' thing is quite fashionable these days. Even Marvel are getting in on it with the new Spider-Man. But it's quite risky. From the sounds of it, it didn't pay off like Jurassic World managed.

From the interview Kevin Smith made with Trank, it seemed like it was him winning the lottery, with someone so inexperienced and new getting a big budget superhero movie. It's now clear that Trank was duped by Fox in a rights-holding movie.

I'm sure being able to hire him on the cheap also helped.
