It's like that guy on Twitter said-they made no effort to hide the fact that this move was done to just spite Marvel and Disney.

I really don't care much for this line of thought. It kind of demeans all the work all involved put into the film, and indicates their effort to make it good--however failed--didn't exist. Unless you mean Fox just trying to spite Marvel and not those making the movie. I dunno man. I think Fox made it to try to make money more than they made it out of spite. I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary, whatever the quality of the movie is.

ETA: I was jumping to conclusions hastily here, as SomewhatGroovy pointed out below. My apologies, Dalek.

It's like Fox is completely unable to get the team right. They had a good director, a good cast, & a good writer, and yet they still fucked it up. I guess it's time to call up Marvel Studios & cash out while the F4 are still worth anything.
Hope you aren't talking about Simon Kinberg.

I have no desire to see this film at all, but I also don't see why people are making such a big deal about the clobbering time origin. I haven't seen how it's actually pulled off in the movie yet, but on paper I like it. In terms of writing, it makes The Thing more interesting to me as a character if he's at least somewhat tapping in to his abusive brother when he fights.

The rest of the reactions make the film sound pretty bland and dumb though.

He redeemed himself with DoFP in my eyes, only to fuck it up again with this movie.

He seems to do one good film, one bad film, which maybe bodes well for Apocalypse.

Something I'm curious about is his Wikipedia page has him listed as an uncredited script doctor on the 2005 FF film, but I think that might be wrong. (it's not cited and there are other inconsistencies with his imdb listings)

Did he write the Deadpool script? What about Gambit?

And we have a winner.

Pretty sure he's only producing those.
Then Apocalypse is next in line for the good movie pattern if said pattern holds up.

Keep in mind that there could have been ghost writers coming in and doctoring his script after what he initially wrote.
Huh, that could have been the case. Well whatever happened with DoFP, I hope they do it again for Apocalypse.

In other news, Yahoo! Movies did their review for the F4 reboot.
They hated it.

I dunno, agree to disagree I guess. But to me, it's like changing Bruce Wayne's parents into child molesters. It's just... wrong. And not "Ah! They changed it, it sucks" kind of wrong, but "That's just disturbing and messed up" kind of wrong.

I'm sure being able to hire him on the cheap also helped.

Certainly. From his point of view, he was amazed how nice the Fox executives were to him and how incredibly open to his ideas they were; seemingly unaware that they were probably rolling their eyes as they walked out of the room.

Here's a review from someone on Reddit.

progabe said:
I watched it, here are my thoughts of it, completely spoiler free:

No, it's not just bad, it's outrageous!

But first of all let me say I'm not a comic book fan, but I really like movies based on them.
So here I am sitting on the tube (in London) on my way home and I'm pretty sure this was the worst movie I saw in the cinema for the last two or three years. I've got an unlimited card so I watch nearly everything and no, I did not skip Jupiter Ascending :)

To be honest I did hope this can be good! To be a clever film, to be a little different somehow. Well, if I think about it, it is different! Different because normal movies are try to be coherent. They got acts that are balanced. Characters that you care about and if the movie is good you can feel excitement, joy, sadness or anything, really!

Okay, we all know about the things hat happened during the shoot, that the director had been fired. We know that Fox had to do this in order to keep the copyrights. But this feels like an incomplete movie made out of an incomplete script. Maybe they shot it and gave that already bad material to someone who knew how to edit a movie together. When he finished he knew it was bad but didn't have the experience, the talent and the time to make it right. It really feels like that!

Why did I say it is incomplete? Yes, it has really bad looking CGI. That's one thing. But the props! Oh my! I love good production design. When the practical effects, the props and the animation work altogether for good visuals. In this movie you can't find any of this.

The story is completely out of balance. The opening and the middle acts are way too long but they act for nothing: there's no build up for anything really, the characters just do things and there's zero tension. The story in the beginning is one big bad mcguffin. So we got this origin story of these people and after their first sentence you can categorise them.

Character development? It happens in an instant because the story demands it! It's laughable. Oh and let me just tell you that this movie has the worst G-man character ever! Really bad actor in a really bad role!

So we have another FF movie that's a complete disaster. You sit in front of the screen and this thing just keeps on going and you can feel they put it together by using a "how to make movies - for dummies" book or something. You can feel they just wanted to finish this no matter what. Like you did with that essay in high school. You knew it won't get an A but at least it's done and you can go and play some more Halo or something.

They used typical panels in the story. But they used them badly. Damn, I do it, I write it down: this is the Grown Ups 2 of the comic book movies. Yes, it's that bad.

Disclaimer: English is my second language, if I wrote some complete bs somewhere, feel free to bash me for it. Hopefully both of us can get a laugh out of it.

Yes, I'm a lurker but I wanted to share this because it's that bad.

I'm hoping this movie teeters on the "so bad, it's good" feel. Because I want to see for myself how much of a trainwreck this has become.
I believe one of our own advised against this. Granted, I'm tempted to do the same, but there's always Resurrection F & The Gift for me to watch instead.

Good God that "Clobberin Time" origin story can't be true. I mean....for fuck's sake!

TOY STORY REBOOT BY FOX:

When Buzz Lightyear excitedly exclaims "To Infinity and beyond!" he is actually recalling something a previous owner used to say, when Buzz would be taken to a nightclub called "Infinity" and was taken beyond to the back rooms where people would take turn jizzing on him and put the video up on youporn.

Who would have thought Peyton Reed's Ant-Man would end up being the best superhero film this year?

Fantfourstic |OT| What if we say "no"?

Not sure. While sure, he saw Ant-Man through to the awesome movie that it ended up being, I'm not sure if the script & the tone of this movie would be up his alley.

I wonder... if this movie does shitty (both critically and commercially), does Fox even want to associate these characters with the X-Men? I always figured that if F4 didn't do great, the next step would be a crossover with X-Men to try and elevate those characters to the level of the X-Men.

But from the looks of it... F4 might drag the X-Men brand down, after it worked so hard to get to the great spot it's at right now after X3/Wolverine Origins.

The only logical thing they can do is give the rights back to Marvel ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I think if does well than yeah, Fox would probably love to do a big crossover film with the X men. But it looks like F4 is gonna bomb so Fox won't bother.

From another review:

Ben Grimm's abusive brother used to say "It's clobbering time." before hitting Ben.

Also,
Victor (Before his transformation): I think the whole world should come to an end.
Susan (sarcastically says): Listen to Dr. Doom here.

Slightly off-topic, but I wonder if The Gift will be a surprise box office hit this weekend. I don't expect Ricki to do super well, but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Eh... just because that movie is getting rave reviews doesn't change the absolute shit marketing it's been getting. Definitely see Shaun the Sheep being the only other opener above 10M this weekend.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
This movie is going to be a gigantic flop mark my words

I'm not sure what else is coming out next weekend but if anything new is releasing, F4 may not even get the top Box Office spot

I haven't been this unexcited about a superhero movie in years.

I probably should freeze myself in liquid nitrogen until February 12th, 2016.

It's truly sad when the best Fantastic Four movie was made by Pixar.

I'll report back on Friday with my thoughts on the film, I bet Disney/Marvel are grinning in their executive offices....... ):

yeah some may be grinning others are probably cringing since it will say Marvel at the beginning of the film and FF4 has always been done half assed or just in a poor direction over at Fox , at best they are tired of Fox's efforts to get people to like their take on the property.

I really have to disagree, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis were terrible. Evans was only good because of his character and Alba was super beautiful so she got a pass from almost everyone.

Jordan and Teller (from the trailers) seem to fit their characters and have some sort of personality. Can't say much about Mara but she's not a bad fit at all. Same with Bell.

Nope you are wrong and I'm sure the critic scores over time will prove that.

EDIT. Thinking about it. The reboot will probably score higher but it still won't make it a better movie.

Nah man, I'm confident this'll be better than the other two. Weaker in some areas but overall better.

Edit: Well, now we're just entering subjectivity.

Your confidence was misplaced.
