FINAL FANTASY XV DOES HAVE SOLES

I guess SE shouldn't have shared so much trailer and raw footage pertaining the demo of a game. It's kinda backfiring now because people really believed that all we've seen so far dictates all there is in the final game, which is nowhere near release like many other games it's currently being compared to.

I am completely ready to see the same response on the 20th ATR walkthrough of the demo, the same 'omg same area again boringzzz', 'downgrade!!!11' and 'so empty and underwhelming'.

That's why devs choose not to show anything, but then the fans cry when they go dark and share no info... And when they do " downgrade confirmed bla bla "

The obsession with downgrades is seriously becoming quite ridiculous. People, pls. Sole downgrades...really?

Game looks great for an open world RPG.

Is there like a phone number I can call to ask Square Enix to stop naming their games/projects dumb shit? Seriously.

Game looks good. I really hope they can deliver a new and compelling Final Fantasy game.

Duscae is just the name of a region in the game. So it's not really that stupid.

I don't mind the thing with the soles, but the overall downgrade compared to what was shown before is pretty huge, especially the vegetation downgrade.

Maybe those are screens from X1 cuz the nice grass disappeared somewhere...

jk

I really hate the character design though... Why can't they just make them look like normal people instead of emo gang. I'm honestly more excited about Type-0 and its possible sequel.

Look at how many posters are coming in here to cry about a soles post long after I moved past it and tell me I'm the one trying to derail the thread.

Grass looks bad. Sky looks bad. Clothes looks bad. Face looks bad. Hair looks bad. Teeth look bad. And the whole world has to answer right now, just to tell you once again, who's bad?

Mind being specific? What exactly is "pretty huge"?

Considering we haven't even got any like-for-like comparison. The only thing that we have speculated is a decrease in the vegetation quality/density. So what exactly constitutes a huge downgrade here?

The graphics look fine to me.

My dream for a FF game with a large, full-fledged, 3D world is finally becoming a reality. I can live without super-detailed soles.

I really hope this game is great. Love what I've seen so far and looking forward to it more than most games this year, but SE have been a bit here and there of late. I would love for this to be their return to RPG greatness.

I am asking solely(lol) because I want to understand. Why is it important if there is more grass. I really don't understand it.

A lot of people are overreacting about the supposed downgrade. The grass is less lush and the sole of his foot is (possibly) less detailed, but the game doesn't look like a PS2 game or anything.

It actually looks really incredible. Those are the first screenshots that I can fully convince myself are actually the version we'll get.

I'm not looking at them with a microscope. Just eyeballing them is enough to realize it doesn't look very impressive anymore. The vegetation, lighting, and motion blur quality are all reduced.

The reduced amount of vegetation also gives away the poor texture filtering on the ground.

I'd be legit concerned if the game is slated for release in like 4 or 5 months, but as it is?

While not an absolute certainty, quality tends to go down as release approaches, and we've seen it happen so many times that I'm concerned about it.

Are you not understanding that games also need to perform well? They are downgraded to not run like slideshow powerpoints and instead like actual videogames.

Good question. Not only do I not see a single chest anywhere, the map does not contain any watch towers or sync points. This worries me. I'm starting to wonder if this game even has enough collectibles to keep its players satisfied.

If you ask me, this game could learn a thing or two about open world development from Assassin's Creed.
Ugh, downgrade talk. Never knew how this game looked was so important to people. Should have been satisfied with this game being in Trailer/screenshot form for almost a decade. It's just all so superficial...
Oh well, downgrade talking already ruining the thread. And it's even not the final version.
People talking about downgraded soles now

I can't. I fucking can't
Yeah this is new level of BS.
Smh at some people.

Game looks great.
Come on baby girls, let's calm down now. No need to be so defensive.

Demo is coming over a year before the game. The demo wasn't even confirmed for day and date of Type-0. They pushed for day-1 and several things had to be cut. And considering huge elements like the driving and entire magic system were cut from the demo to make a deadline, I don't think things like "vegetation shadows" matter.
haha, my thoughts exactly.

how the fuck do these people enjoy anything
It's nauseating. I used to actually believe when gaffers said "as long as it's fun, you won't see as much fps/resolution talk" but considering how we have threads dedicated to Bloodborne, Souls, and fcking Xenoblade X where people are concerned with 720p, and textures, I really do feel like we've turned a really sad corner.

Oof, looks kinda rough, but overall still pretty good. However, especially in Cid's closeup the hair reminds me of how badly alpha was handled in 13. Is this the same engine?

I mean, yeah, there is a graphical downgrade, but it's not that huge. Plus it was likely done to get the game running at a good resolution and frame rate for this demo that is on an unfinished version of the engine and releasing a year or more before the actual game. The demo looks great and I'm not worried about the final version's visuals. That being said I don't see the grass shadows returning, we're just not there yet on console hardware.

I assume you haven't been looking into this game too much? It's a completely new engine.

By the way I don't think anyone think otherwise, but you get to keep and play the demo forever once you had it, no limited time/usage.

http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/final...he_same_day_as_type-0_hd_square_confirms.html

The code included inside the game's box will be redeemable until March 20, 2016. Square promises, however, that once downloaded the demo is yours to keep until you choose to delete it.

So once you download it before March 20, 2016, and delete it, can you download it again after March 20 2016?

So you are basing you judgement from screens that don't even show the same area. Ok.

Have you seen the launch trailer in HQ? Please use your superior judging skills to point to the flaws in the launch trailer, which was posted a while back BTW. These screens are basically the launch trailer but in 1080p.

Here are some GIFs from the launch trailer.

Obvi downgrade but this is an older version of Luminious. I don't think it's much to worry about in terms of how the full game looks like.

These pictures don't do anything for me though. We've seen this area so much, and we saw all of the scenes from the screens in that recent trailer. I just want to watch gameplay footage of this demo already!

Edit: And I agree one of the above posters, although i'm sure the final version will look better, I will be extremely surprised if that foliage shading returns.

Speaking of XIII, what exactly were the big problems when it came to making/implementing the white engine/Crystal Tools? All I've heard is a lot of general "it sucked"

GOW3 demo -> retail, anyone recall?

And I'm pretty sure they've been stating how they've been cutting back on things just to get the demo out. I wouldn't take this to be indicative of final product quality in any way.

As previously announced, access to Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae will be included with all physical 'day one' editions of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and with digital versions "for a limited time".

They also still haven't confirmed that limited time for DL buyers. The March 20, 2016 expiration date is for the retail package code.
