Trailer is awesome. This game will make history.

RDR already showed that rockstar is capable of learning from their mistakes like almost no other studio while improving everything thats needs to be improved to a level that is simply unreachable by many other competitors on the market.

So eager to finally play this. Hope they release a ps4 version, the <30fps console versions will really have an impact on the experience.

The satire on the radio and in other details within the world is one of the major reasons I enjoy GTA more than other open-world series.

I wish people would not try to speak objectively for everyone about subjective things.

I didn't mean to generalize why people buy and enjoy GTA, I just wanted to point out that the massive sales of the game isn't indicative of the quality of the parody/satire.

After watching the trailers again for like the 5th time ( each)

I change my view to:

Trevor>Franklin> Michael ( very slightly)

Yes Franklin's story may be more typical but to me it seems the most action packed and crazy which I love in games and such.

Michael's seem way too much family issues, not as interesting.

Aha yes! I'm thinking Michael's place will be the neatest to explore- I hope his family members will be in the house, so we can interact with them / go on typical outings as a respite from all the crazy crime!

Yeah I hope there will be more interaction with ALL NPC's.

NPC's make the world alive, they should really focus on making them seem alive.

People buy GTA to walk around a city causing chaos and have fun. I know when I discuss GTA with my friends we don't mention how great of a parody/satire it is of U.S. life.

This guy disagrees.

I remember me and my friends dying of laughter as we entered the Ammunation store for the first time. Then again, we aren't American.

Sorry i don´t really waste my time on ripoffs that aren´t even half as good as the original.

Just Cause 2 isn't a ripoff at all. It's a very entertaining game that feels nothing like any GTA.

The physical form of blasphemy
As I said, the main characters in The Wire are police officers, not gangbangers. Same for Training Day.

Stringer Bell wasn't a side character and neither was Marlo. The Wire showed both sides equally.

The thing with Training Day is that Denzel was a dirty cop, and a thug in bed in mobsters / gangs. It wasn't a simple cop movie.

There is a larger reason why you probably don't see thug/gangbanging films in theaters, but that's a different discussion.

Trevor's was great. Will likely be the most chaotic. And considering my love for Saint's Row, I think his story will work nicely.

Course there were strippers in the other one...

For me, Franklins trailer is the best out of all of them. If you have some predisposed attitude towards hood life then I can see how people would just write it off. Trevor's was second best and Michaels is just kinda lame.

See after The Lost & the Damned, that whole MC club hangout with all the interactive activities in one location could lend itself well for Michael's house. I hope we can do side activities with his family members though- simple shit, like playing tennis, or driving his son to the movies.

I like that slower buildup in understanding relationships with NPCs, I'm hoping for a lot of that!

TO me it's the opposite:

Michael > Franklin > Trevor (as far as trailers go, not characters).

I thought Franklin's trailer was the least interesting just because it seems exactly like CJ's story from San Andreas. "I thought we were trying to get out of the hood" reminded me of "What's the hood ever done for US" from SA. I'm sure there's more to him and his story but from the trailer he feels like a combo of CJ and Luis from Gay Tony. That said I have the feeling he's gonna have the best gameplay and customization options out of the 3.
Franklin has already started to rise above the gang activity his friends are still mired in. Rockstar has said that he's working for powerful Armenian gangsters jacking expensive cars at the start of GTA V. He was a drug dealer at one point in his life, but gave it up and has now transcended that.

If we get any more trailers I hope R* shows this aspect of Franklin's story. He's not the typical low level thug that some people are suggesting.

My first hour of GTA V;

Game has loaded and I'm being introduced to the game. Do the first few missions until it allows me to save and go free-roaming. I get in a car and slowly drive around, get a feeling for the car. I stop at traffic lights going all role-play on its ass, I take in the views and the immense atmosphere ... Some woman drives into the back of my expensive car, I'm obviously in role-play mode so I get out, walk over to her car, drag her ass out and beat her to death. I then proceed to run her over and then back over her again. I then realize role-playing isn't my strong suit and now I am ready to play GTA V.

The End.

Fuck, I need this game.

The characters can't be any worse than Nico Bellic.

Hope the gunplay and cover system is much better than GTA IV.

Yes I think we can all agree Niko and gang was boring. I didn't like a single character in Gta iv. I couldn't stand Niko, Roman, the jamaican dude I forget his name, and several other corny guys throughout the game.

It's a bigger part of it than you think. If people only cared about running around and shooting people, there are other games that arguably do that better. You shouldn't discount the "casuals gamer's" ability to really like the satire and do the missions. The humor is what gives GTA an identity and separates it from other open world games. I have fond memories talking to my friends about Chatterbox FM.

Okay, so what else is it?

Why are you even in this thread? It's pretty obvious you don't care about this series and are just looking for reactions.

Agreed, some people lack the patience for that, but that's right up my alley.

Michael's trailer was the best IMO. It made me actually interested in the story, unlike the other two.

Hyped rising considerably. Can't wait!

No I liked them actually. Well accept brucie.. he was like human sonic the hedgehog.

I'm a Michael > Trevor > Franklin guy, but they were all great. And hey, there's something for just about everyone.

I only kind of liked Little Jacob and Packie, the rest were dull.

Please don't fuck my head with such blasphemy. R* is making GTA V for pc.. Right?

As a fan of R*, this literally makes me sick. To not make the game for PC is disgusting. This is so wrong and fans should sue.

Name me one of the major GTA titles that hasn't seen a PC release?

Don't worry my friend. It will happen.

Calling it now, Michael is the one that will fuck them over. He's way too indecisive and will end up showing how disposable anyone is around him in response to his arrogance and selfishness.

No I liked them actually. Well accept brucie.. he was like human sonic the hedgehog.

I hated Brucie's racing missions. I didn't like nothing about GTA IV. The radio stations, city, color pallete bleh. I'm going to play GTA IV on pC right now to be more disgusted.

Okay, that I really like. If only it were shown in the trailer, because we saw practically none of that (although I guess it was somewhat hinted from his flashier dress).

The satire is one of the strongest parts of GTA for me, never have I enjoyed or laughed so much in games lik SA/IV and before because of the satire.

It really is amusing and nothing really comes close ( i mean not even on the same planet)

GTA: LC stories probably has one of the best imo.

I got the same rankings. I think Franklin's story and atmosphere will be the best but Michael's background and family dynamic will be something that we haven't really seen.

Taxi missions, vigilante missions, firetruck missions, hidden packages, gang warfare activity from San Andraas, unique stunt jumps, etc.

And this isn't even mentioning the wealth of fun to be had in GTA IV's multiplayer. Especially online free roam with a group of friends.

I thought the complete opposite, but to each his own.

You talk about Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, yet conveniently leave out The Wire which is considered by many to be one of the best television shows of all time?

And under your definition, City of God would be a Hood film (and it is), and it stands toe to toe with the best of cinema. And Menace 2 Society, Boyz in the Hood, Fresh, Training Day, Sin Nombre, La Haine, Clockers, etc. are all wonderful Hood films. I honestly don't understand your position. You're suggesting that the Italian Mafia subject matter deserves credence for The Godfather and Goodfellas being GREAT films, and not the fact that two of the best directors of all time happened to direct them?

Thank God you arrived Harson. I'm glad someone here can make some fucking sense. Seriously, thinking organised crime is more interesting just...because? Because what? They're white? If you enjoy drama it can be mined from any walk of life. In the world of crime in particular. Not just "Italian mob types". What is interesting to watch play out is the relations between characters, not what particular gangs in America they belong to.
