NEW hands on OBLIVION(IGN)

Oblivion sounding excellent

Players could choose between Khajiit, Nord, Imperial, Orc, Redguard, Wood Elf, Argonian, Breton, Dark Elf, or High Elf for their race. After selecting a gender the face could be customized to very specific proportions. It was possible to manipulate your face's shape and tone, as well as the cheeks, eyes, forehead, tone of beard, eyes and eyebrows, lips and nose. You could also change the hair style and color along with your character's age and skin complexion. Overall it was extremely detailed and allowed for highly specific customizations.

You'll still be able to loot just as you were able to in Morrowind, but the looting and equipping interface appeared much more streamlined. Your menus in general were much easier to use, allowing you to scroll between weapon, item, and skill tabs and equip, unequip, assign active spells, and check stats with very little confusion.

Melee combat in Oblivion felt like it was functioning with a more fluid, intuitive system than Morrowind

Overall the game was so far everything we hoped it could be. The environment was incredibly detailed, the voices were great, graphics smooth and believable, and the game felt much smoother and easier to control. This is one title we absolutely cannot wait to get more hands on time with.

I will steal and/or kill to own this.
What about selling some worthless Nintendo crap? Less likely to end up in jail and you'll wash some of the taint out of your life.

I wish they would have gone into detail about framerate and character animations. I'm sure its better but the video that was uploaded on this forum a few days ago looked suspect in some areas. I know that video was 4-5 months old but I still would like to know more about the new build's framerate. If its 25ish to 30 frames then fine.

I already trade-in all my games.

Luckily, I'm getting Need for Speed 360 free, so I'll trade that in instantly.

Has MS even said when they will tell us which games are due on 11/22?

What about the Backwards Compatibility list??

When do we get info on this?

I've come to expect rough edges in Elder Scrolls games. That said, this game looks a thousand times than it has any right to, especially considering its scope. System seller, for reals.

Must... have....

Here's to finally being able to pull arrows out of something after you shoot them!

(Am I the only one hoping for a Elderscrolls game for the Revolution? Slashing and stabbing... *sigh*)

I really fucking hate that this game makes me want to buy a 360 right away. I really dont need one so soon dammit.

I hate the fact that I didn't even really enjoy Morrowind on the xbox and I'm super excited for this game. :lol

How does that make any sense?

YOU DAMN STRAIGHT IT IS.

They seem rather adamant that the game will launch with the console, if anything we should at least expect it before December 31st at the latest.

They might have addressed all the issues you had with Morrowind? It sure seems like they are improving everything they tackled in Morrowind and generally improving every facet of gameplay.

I'd like to see it too. I can barely imagine using a standard controller in a game like that

It's like Grand Theft Auto in a fantasy world. You don't really have to enjoy what you're doing. Just uh...do something else, ya know?

I spent my first 20 hours of Morrowind just stealing and killing people, trying out different things.

With custom soundtracks + custom everything else, I'm just going to run around and kill deer for hours, see if GIANT POLYGON MINOTAUR MAN and UGLY CRAP DUDE come after me.

Any chance someone can explain what you do in this game?

edit: oh thanks speevy hahaha

btw, is there some type of story?

Basically, you just create your own adventure.

You have a quest, but it's very much secondary to the 348790279074290479743224742079240 other sidequests in the game. You customize your appearance, your allies/affiliation, your strengths/weaknesses as a warrior, sorceror, lizard, whatever, and walk across 73837329074902738974243027 miles of unexplored territory, never knowing what will come your way. Friend or foe? Ferocious beast or timid crab? You'll find them all, and interact with them all.

Villages, caves, forests, temples, mountains, skies, lakes, rivers, towers, shops, a whole world to explore.

There's nothing as big as the Elder Scrolls series.

:lol great description

I'm wondering something.

Remember the little manipulations you could create with certain potions in Morrowind?

I wonder if you could use that to creat an army like you could on the Xbox. I remember getting my Golden Saint army to attack a village. Good times.

What the fuck are you talking about? We've been using standard controllers to play games like this for over a decade.

That said, this is by far my most anticipated game. If it actually makes launch, I will be indebted to Bethesda for life.

Now, Steve, get back to work! ;)

Oy, there's always something completely unnerving about releasing your baby out into the world.

Buuut at the same time it's awsome to get first impressions from people that haven't been staring at it for 3 years. :)

This is going to be THE definitive launch title, if it's true (btw, it was confirmed on Attack of the Show - G4, to be a day one launch title). Oblivion is going to own sooo soooo many of us come Nov. 22nd!

All this without the hard-dirve? Color me suprised.

If this makes launch, and ends up having a stable framerate, Day 1 Xbox 360 purchase.

vark: how is the animation now? framerate seems to have been cleaned up nicely :)

What's everyones fascination with questions they know you won't answer :lol

I am contractually obligated to not say anything that hasn't already been said elsewhere so ya'll just get to wait for impressions.

We need high rez movies please....Blim hook us up :)

The game looks incredible in the gamespot interview.

Of course, the hard drive is all that will allow me to have the entire Legend of Zelda soundtrack playing as I explore the landscape.

I'm half-kidding.
I'll use Mario too
