Should have been the first post.

I thought this meant a(nother, apparently?) poster on GAF was found to be a hobbit.

This is going to be a much happier film than LOTR. finally. I like some happiness in that universe
There's plenty of death and destruction in The Hobbit, not to mention the brutality of Beorn and the brooding sense of doubt and foreshadowing of the evil to come via the White Council/Thû the Necromancer subplot. Not to mention the sorrow near the end of the narrative. The Hobbit is more than a mere children's story.

i was listening to a podcast today which discussed the hobbit at comic con, really interested to see if they show the new footage at 48fps there (can comic con do that?) and how it goes down. Im honestly worried given the cinemacon reactions a few months back D:

saw it in the cinema - the trailer. I'm assuming its not shown @ 48fps and you know what; looks like more of LOTR.

"From the director of 'Meet The Feebles'..."

In all seriousness though, I'm looking forward to this. I preferred The Hobbit over Lord Of The Rings, as it was a book that I read a lot growing up (Graphic novel version was the first book I ever read) so I really hope that they do a good job with it.

The poster looks cool, but I agree with others by saying that they should have included more. I mean Gandalf's a Boss and all, but to introduce a film called "The Hobbit", they should have included Bilbo in there.

Even though the picture must represent Gandlaf on his way to cause Bilbo some grief

Love it. Envisions my mind perfectly.

I was fortunate enough to have read The Hobbit before The Lord of the Rings, so I have a huge attachment to the former and everything they have shown thus far has been perfect.

Let's remember that this is just a Comic-Con poster. It's aimed for the fans and it's not going to be in movie theaters.

We already got that official poster with Bilbo walking out of the door.

Too old.

J/K. There must be something wrong with me. I can't seem to muster enthusiasm for this kind of film or games (anything that looks remotely medieval/dungeons/elves/dwarves, etc). But I get that this theme is very popular around the world.

Why is The Hobbit so tall? I thought they where short. Aren't they?

Or are they just taking freedom with this "prequel" in typical Hollywood standard?

Does Gandalf look odd to anyone else? It looks like his head isn't quite sitting right on his body, like its a little stiff or something.

He's a Wizard not a Mage.

same difference?

EDIT:

from yahoo
A wizard is a "traditional" magic wielder, with a staff/wand of varying woods (anything from oak to rose wood) focusing magic from around them.

Mages are a type of Higher wizard that not only have the traditional approach, they also, attempt (as its usually only great mages who succeed in doing this) to drawn magic from within (a highly dangerous magically procedure) and better still, attempt (because only masters of magics can perform such feats) draw power from others

So Gandalf's just some scrub with weak magic?

Beautiful poster. Does GAF hate everything?

Why didn't anyone bring this up when they were writing this, whoever wrote this garbage script should never work in Hollywood again.

To put it in laymans terms, the eagles are inhabited by what you might describe as etheral beings, not unlike Gandalf. They do not meddle in the affairs of middle-earth, unless they're sent to, as Gandalf was. They don't really fight for a "side". They only ever assist Gandalf, who is a being similar to them. Someone more familiar with the lore might be able to elaborate a bit more.

Did you really want a 5 minute long scene explaining why the eagles couldn't fly them to Mt. Doom? Pretty ridiculous criticism.
