Goddamn Pariston played everyone for fools, so much more likable than Pouf.

Yup. I'm sorry I was one of the people who called you Pouf V2 Pariston I'm so sorrrryyyy. So what was with Pariston's
visions
? Is it just really really good intuition or is his power of some sort? Now I'm wondering if he vacant eye look was when he was
catching a 'glimpse' of the future
.

(spoiler tagging just in case because I don't really understand the spoiler tagging protocol for this thread).

Now, I have a question from 145.

Why does Gon must not know that Killua saved him? Wasn't Killua the one that wanted Gon to apologize to him for acting alone against Pitou? I guess that will be explained in the remaining episodes, but hopefully that doesn't mean that Gon and Killua will separate or something like that on the next arc :(

(not spoilers just personal speculation cos I haven't read the manga) I thought it might be because the 'debt' from being healed from such a state would be immense and Killua would want their relationship to remain 'equal'. Either that or maybe Killua has decided he will leave Gon to stay with Alluka, as he kept mentioning previously that he would save both Gon and Alluka. He's laid out his plan on how
to keep Nanika at bay
, but it seems like he would need to stay with Alluka to
prevent anyone making any requests
if I'm understanding the rules correctly. I wonder how long Alluka will sleep this time, that's one hell of a healing job.

Just started season 5 on netflix and i can see why people don't like the
chimera ant
thing. This is straight shark jumping at it's finest,
Ants but one is a human/rabbit/bird fucking thing
it does almost make me want to stop watching it's so ridiulous.

I doubted it too but it becomes amazing.

Many people dislike the execution of the arc; to me, the theme and plot of the arc overshadow those issues. You should keep watching it, besides there is even a reason given why they look like they look; come on.

Naah it's just great analysis and prediction skills, much like Ging.

They're called "chimera ants" for a reason.

I've seen all kinds of criticism geared towards the Chimera Ants arc, but someone being mad at the fact that the Chimera Ants are in fact Chimera Ants is a first.

The only thing that bothered me about that arc was that some of the Chimera Ants didn't seem to have any ant parts. At all. They were just straight up other animals.

Well they kept mixing genes of various species so they had to eventually get rid of the ant part.

I read the ant parts as mostly being their social organization, instincts, etc, by that point. But I guess the human element was messing with even that. Still, they were plenty 'antlike' for me in that sense.

Gon's back! Three episodes left!

Really liked how Killua got to be the main character this arc. Also glad to see Leorio, but I'm surprised Kurapika never showed up.

Sucks HXH will never really get a definitive ending because the manga keeps going on hiatus.

Not sure you quite know what "jumping the shark means" unless you're willing to explain

No, that's not the issue people have.

The pacing gets fucked about halfway in.

Realistically speaking I think all those hiatuses from before were due to back pain and now the pain is coming back. It could be that the way these mangaka sit and draw for hours on end with bad posture puts a big strain on their lower backs. Unfortunately Togashi's back can't take that strain and eventually gave after all those years of writing.

But there has to be a way for him to do his job and not put that much strain on his back. A specially designed chair. Drawing while laying down. Something.

I hope he does get better and gets back to work.

So I just finished episode 136 and man, I don't remember the Chimera Ant arc being this good when I was reading it weekly in 2008. The ending sequence between Mereum and Komugi in 135 in particular was portrayed perfectly, as was the Rena being reunited with her family. Everyone knows the Heaven's Arena, YorkShin, and Greed Island arcs are dope, but my impressions of the Chimera Ant arc was always that it just wasn't as good.

Maybe it had something to do with the difference in pacing by being able to watch multiple episodes one after another as opposed to waiting an inconsistent amount of time for a new chapter. Mad House did a great job in adapting this series. Much better than the original 1999 series and the OVA's, with all their filler. Kinda makes me glad that I waited to watch this series in full when it was originally announced.

It's a shame the manga is on another hiatus though. I was expecting a break of maybe 2-3 years before more episodes were released, but now who knows when the hell we'll see new episodes. :(

Hyori Ittai and Reason best songs.

kind of wish togashi would hire some other artist to draw the manga while he directs. he is probably too proud to do that though. doesn't he do everything by himself? or he used to anyway.

That's just a baseless rumor (just like the rumor that he's fooling everyone and isn't actually sick, which I think is a bit in bad taste). As far as I'm concerned he's having physical troubles right now and is working at an appropriate pace, and that's it.

The suspicions about the whole situation, even when Jump put out such a clear message (which they never do), is a bit off putting...

i believe he has an illness which is why i wish he would hire some other people to help him. that way he can do much more chapters when he is healthy enough to work on the manga.

Nah but it's going to take years before there's enough material for a new anime.

Perhaps a decade, or such! After all it's been that long between adaptations.

I hope when they re-adapt the entire manga they compress the Chimera Ant arc.

Sorry if it came off like I was talking about you there, I was just quoting you for the first sentence

I'd assume in this situation they already explored these kinds of options, since a lot of money is involved, but who knows.

i think jump would probably fund the other artists if it meant weekly hunter x hunter. especially now that naruto and bleach are likely to end soon.

Yeah, I have felt like this for years now. This series can survive another artist (unlike Berserk, I'd say), its best strengths lie in the concept and execution.

At the end of episode 72 the bomber goes to real world to chase tzesgerra and kills one of the guards, but in episode 73 they are in Greed Island waiting at the starting point. What happened there?

Just got around to ep 131. This Ant Arc is the most uninteresting interesting thing I've ever seen lol. That said, wow. This episode is just insane in all the right ways lol

"This would be so much better if it were 4/5ths the size."
There we go. Mostly though, I always felt like I wouldn't like it and the concept was boring...but I still found interest in it at the end of an episode. It did drag on for too long, but it made the best out of an uninteresting hand of cards.

I also get hyped every time APR is used. I just love the whole idea behind that move lol

Since this series is coming to an end, does anybody here have recommendations for other anime which are like this? I started watching Fairy Tale because a friend recommend it to me.

Fairy Tale is almost the exact opposite of this. It's a generic as shounen can get.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood seems very good from what I've watched so far. Other than that.. mhm, no idea, and honestly: while I don't know that many animes, I can't imagine any shonen being in the same league as HxH in terms of writing.

Can someone enlighten me as to why a scrub like Kurapika has 5 broken Nen powers + Emperor Time?
Iirc he has different powers depending on his condition. He's a conjurer but when he reaches a heightened emotional state his eyes turn scarlet and he becomes a specialist.

He made a vow that he would die if he used his chain to imprison anyone who was not a member of the Ryodan. That gave him an unbreakable chain and may have boosted his powers in the process. I can't exactly remember the explanation for his powers. It's either his Emperor Time activates in times of heightened emotion or his vow makes him even stronger.
