Iirc he has different powers depending on his condition. He's a conjurer but when he reaches a heightened emotional state his eyes turn scarlet and he becomes a specialist.

He made a vow that he would die if he used his chain to imprison anyone who was not a member of the Ryodan. That gave him an unbreakable chain and may have boosted his powers in the process. I can't exactly remember the explanation for his powers. It's either his Emperor Time activates in times of heightened emotion or his vow makes him even stronger.
It's the multiplicative effect of both that makes him bullshit-tier when facing the Spiders.

The problem is that when he isn't facing them, he only gets the E. Time powers, and those have some pretty severe handicaps associated with them. They're also not great combat powers.

Do they? Tbh I can't remember what the drawbacks are. And being able to use 100% of every nen category sounds pretty useful for combat situations. There's a lot of stuff that is left vague in the anime (and the manga too). I've only recently learned of certain limitations and conditions for Kite's hatsu even though I thought I'd known all of them.

Using E.Time for an extended period makes him really sick. Great for short bursts, not dependable.

Only the Zetsu chain has any restrictions.

All his other abilities work on anyone else. >.>

Edit: I'm still extremely confused as to how he tanked a Nen-powered punch from Uvogin. Emperor Time only allows him to utilize his Enhancer capabilities at 100% efficiency (i.e. no difficulties/wasted Nen). It doesn't suddenly make him a super-saiyan because he's still a scrub Enhancer.

He kinda tanked it- he broke his arm in the process and had to heal it.

I'd avoid reading through this thread since there's unmarked spoilers and gifs everywhere.

But impressions are always welcome, so keep us updated! Just don't read anything else.

I think Emperor Time can work against anyone though. That's still pretty broken.

Emperor Time puts a huge strain on his body if he uses it for more than (iirc) a few minutes. Plus he reveals his scarlet eyes when he does which is oftentimes a bad idea for multiple reasons. It's a pretty great trump card and he's God Tier vs spiders which is super impressive considering how strong they are, but even then he might have trouble against more than 1-2 of them at a time. And vs anyone else it's be pretty sketchy in anything but a isolated 1 v 1.

His most used aka "normal" isn't particularly good in combat if the Yorknew arc is anything to go by (Dowsing Chain). It's great for what he does though (gather information about eyes, find people he's looking for, ect).

Don't forget he has a mystery 5th chain that'll asspull him out of any sticky situation he gets himself into. Just in case.

Made it to episode 130/131 and where the hell did what I just see happen come from:

What the fuck was that Gon adult transformation, I was wondering how he was gonna take on a Royal Guard by himself until that happened. It would've been total bullshit if he was able to without that transformation.

Also Pitou is a damn idiot. Aren't the Guards supposed to be ruthless? I thought it was stupid how she just stood there and did nothing while Gon was having a nervous breakdown. Before they got to Kite she had already accepted that she had to kill him so I don't know why she didn't just do it while he was crying on the floor. Even with her broken arm she should've just taken his ass out instead of watching him cry.

That scene is a bit drawn out in the anime. If it helps, you can take that it was much shorter than it appeared (as it was in the manga).

Pitou, like Youpei, had a change in character. She got a bit more human. But once she saw Gon as a real threat to the king, she got ruthless again.

Of course, this is just all my interpretation.

She was making a sacrifice play to get Gon away from him. She knew something was up (just like Hisoka does) but clearly wasn't expecting it to turn as nasty as it did.

Yeah, but I bet she would have walked away if asshole Pouf didn't make that call.

Pariston has become such a complex/interesting character in such a short time. Holy crap this guy is unpredictable. I didn't see that coming.

I thought Ging himself had said that Pariston's objective wasn't to win or lose. What he did seems like exactly what I thought he'd do, based on that.

Killua's character has grown so much since the the beginning of the series. You usually won't see that level of growth with his type of character archetype in manga/anime.

Pariston and Killua this arc man. And we saw that Gon was told about Kite becoming an ant (who knows if he knows about Netero). I thought Gon and Ging's meetup was great. They're basically strangers.

Episode was pretty packed.

Pariston's goal isn't just to reach the end without caring for the conclusion, he's supposed to have fun. Ging expected Pariston to continue doing that in the organization.

Hunter x H....

nah, Feels x Feels 146.

Gon and Ging meets finally, though the scene is a bit strange. Which makes sense, neither feels like a real son & father, they are two strangers they just met.
But we have two emotive scenes in addition, we see a great scene with Pariston where he reveals his true motivation and feelings (loved the change of tone of his voice, and when he cleans his teary eyes), and of course the super moe Killua with the super moe Alluka with the now too super moe Nanika.

Damn. I shed a few tears. That ending was amazing. Brother x Brother/Sister.

Also cool at finding out that dumb little key Kite conjured up vs. Pitou is his "determined not to die" weapon.

Not as deep as he thinks
The Naniko and Killua scene almost got to me in the Manga, but god damn it was way more emotional in this episode. So sad and touching man. God. Beautiful episode and the preview for next week's episode goddddddd ;(
