I guess I'm in the minority that each arc has been better than the last. This one for me has been the most epic, this is real danger now.

This arc has been great so far. Need to see the big fights and how it concludes to really rank it among the other arcs. It's crazy that there hasn't really been any major fights with the main ants yet.

Greed Island loses its appeal pretty quickly. No real stakes and the gimmick wears thin.

I'm hoping that we get to the "Gundam/Mecha" genre eventually in new material.

Huh, wasn't aware people weren't too into Greed Island. I always enjoy the video-game-into-reality concept so I enjoyed it.

Best arc for me was Yorknew city. Heavens Arena was pretty cool too.

Greed Island wasn't even that long episode-wise, but it just dragged for me. Just lacked any sense of urgency for me. They were saying "you could die in their" and that people would give up and just live their lives out in the game because they could never escape, but Killua is just able to get out one day to go take the Hunter exam with no problems. Removed any tension the arc had instantly with that moment.

Greed Island had a lot of training, and I love that kind of stuff in anime. The Dodgeball match and Bomber fight was fucking great as well.

I actually really liked the the game idea of Greed Island. It also provided closure for me since I only borrowed a few episodes from a friend way way way waaay back. :p

Reason I hated GI was because nen wasn't a big part of the combat. It was all about fucking spell cards. They dropped the nen concept so fast when Togashi bit it up so well in Heavens Arena and Yorkshin. And after that spell cards will never have another part in the hxh universe again. It was stupid

Reminds me of the Rules mini arc ( not sure of the official name) right after Dark Tournament in YYH. Those 3 kids with those dumbass powers that had nothing to do with spirit energy. And they were never used again

But yeah, the Chimera ant arc has definitely turned it up a notch or two

Guess it's stupid if you are worried about power levels and those types of things. But Greed Island had some good moments, the dodgeball match was one of my favorite moments in the anime.

Hunter X Hunter

After watching Attack On Titan, fellow Gaffer kirblar recommended me to watch this and I watched all 99 episodes in a crazy marathon.

This is such a great anime - plays with so many known clichés and surprises in every episode. And it gets better and better with each episode!

I enjoyed the Hunter exam for setting the stage; the Chain user arc also showed that in the world of HxH it's not like Dragonball where people can get stronger by willpower but by using the right abilities versus the right opponents. Greed Island was superb as well, but I must say that so far the Chimera Arc takes the cake and stands above all the mentioned arcs: shit gets fucking real! Watching how a single weak ant creates a whole empire with extremely dangerous warriors was exciting; I really wonder how they are going to deal with the King and his guards

Episode 100 was fantastic as usual; one thing this show does so incredibly well is animation. It's much more consistent than Attack On Titan and never disappoints. The slow-motion scene in this episode was a true standout moment and probably a highlight of the entire anime when it comes to animation.

Just great stuff, I really love this and I'm angry that this isn't as big as other animes

But you say everything is all good and amazing so its not really surprising.

Heavens Areana and Greed Island are the best arcs, Heavens arena for such good and action, and Greed Island for such good and strong friendship levels and music.

Current arc and Yorknew were just too dark and lost the series trademark level of happiness, HxH isnt really supposed to be dark and grim so I dont even know whats going on in the writers mind half the time.

Why is that?

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.

If you were a manga/anime fan in the late 90s, this show was plenty big. You have to realize this version is a remake of a show that's almost 15 years old. For someone like me, it's been that long of a wait to finally see things past Greed Island animated. Not to mention Togashi's schedule with the manga has been off-putting to some. Still, in Japan it's a very well known series.

lol I am easy to please I guess. But honestly, each arc has had something awesome. The characters grow and get better and stronger each time. GI had the spell cards, that was cool and something new but don't forget we got some awesome nen stuff out of it too like the match and the fights for Gon, Killua and the girl who's name escapes me, that was all awesome. Yorknew was amazing, dat Kurapika and Killua's dad and grandfather vs Chrollo. Heavens arena was amazing, introduction of nen and them going from noobs to actually having a decent grasp of it. And this current arc, come on now, we get to see them fight these "weak" enemies but they can still get messed up. We get to see Knuckles and all the other characters fight, can't wait to see the royal guard, the king, Netero and whoever he brings. We also saw the troupe, god damn Feitan, kick some ass... I enjoy this show a lot.

Killua is one of the few Shonen protagonists that I'm sure is gay.

My friend keeps saying this but I don't agree. I think he cares so much about Gon because he has never had a real friend his whole life and that's the one thing he has always wanted. He finally has it so he puts himself in danger for him. This is a Shonen were manly spirit and friendship beats everything. :p

Spell cards are Nen though. Just not the user's!

He's 12 years old. Come on.

Well, probably 13 at this point. But yeah.

Anywaaayyyys, while I wanna rail against DTL's "trademark happiness" line (lol), even I've found this arc to be a liiiiiiiiiiiitle too dark. The kid killing, Pokkle brain surgery, and Kite's decapitation seem gratuitous for the sake of it. But who am I to argue with the creator of the series?

What's wrong with you? I don't have anything against homosexuality but we're talking about a 12 year old boy.

How is age relevant?

He's living and fighting to the death in an adult world of violence and danger.

I'm not saying it was certainly the author's intent to make him gay, but I honestly believe his feelings for Gon go beyond just being a friend. Even the only friend of a guy who grew up with none.

Because you're sexualizing a 12 year old boy? Most kids that age aren't thinking about if they're straight or gay so claiming that Killua is a homosexual when we have seen no evidence to support that theory makes your post come off as creepy and weird.

Killua had a strict upbringing where he wasn't allowed to have friends. Just because he finally obtained one and is (understandably) very close with Gon doesn't make him gay. Like everyone else is saying, he's most likely to be asexual.

If we're actually going to have this conversation, I'm pretty sure he is Asexual, and that it was nurtured by his family more than being natural.

What impossible, he is totally only and exclusively into Gon, and even hones in on Gon numerous times. His internal dialogues even. For further proof, when Palm was trying to make a move on Gon he was inserting himself in whatever way he could and try to cannibalize the situation ruining it for her to protect his Gon. He has even sworn his whole life to him, and took initiative making the first kiss.

If there's a gay character, it's Kurapika. He's got an androgynous look, has cross-dressed, and has a "hag".

He's also the only character where it actually adds something - him being unable to have kids (and thus pass his clan's eyes on to a new generation) would explain just why he's so obsessed with collecting the ones that were taken from them.

While I don't really care for this discussion, I was pretty into porn when I was 12.

I agree besides the asexual part.

Seriously!? Being gay is 'sexualizing', got it. Better watch out when around them then.

And 12 is very much the age when people start hitting puberty. Not that it matters, people are very much capable of being their own sexual orientation before that, or are you gonna argue that people 'become' gay at that age?

I just don't understand why that's a thing that's even worth speculating unless it's some kind of twisted fantasy, especially when there's been no indication whatsoever concerning their sexual orientation.

It's made even more egregious when it's speculation involving prebuscent children.

...Weird convo.

Anyway, episode 100 was fantastic. I'm not surprised. HxH never disappoints and has been consistently good in this remake. Hardly any boring episodes. This one however was a treat to see because of Killua's not giving a fuck and going straight for the kill attitude. That is always a joy to witness and the slow motion scene, christ...so good.

There's been nothing to indicate Killua's sexuality and I'd advise against putting words in other people's mouths. Try again.
