Just wait till people find out that the main character is actually Will and Elizabeth's son!

Because why not, that is my theory anyway. Why have them both back if one of the new kids are not one of their kids.

Will touching the kid's face.

While I get what you're saying, this is very likely a quick cameo or a flashback sequence.

She is not part of the main cast for this movie. This was likely meant to be a surprise until very recently when they decided to put it into the trailer. It has not even remotely been part of the marketing at all. And even then, she's literally only shown in the Japanese trailer so far, which is pretty random and something most people in the US will never see.

I'm personally a little bummed that they decided to show this.

It's completely forgettable but there's no harm in giving it a watch. Penélope Cruz was a fun addition.

Also, based on the trailers for Pirates 5, they actually seem to be referencing what happened to the Black Pearl in Pirates 4, which I thought they would just brush over.

Been rewatching these the past few weeks with my wife, it's surprising how annoying Jack Sparrow gets back-to-back.

Dope. The return of Bloom and Knightley and massive spectacle setpieces is making this one look much more entertaining than the last crap one

Should be a fun time in theaters

Ah, come on. I have a lot of issues with Pirates 3 but "complete trash" is certainly a bit hyperbolic. There is a middle ground, guys. Not everything is "great" or "trash.

(And I'll defend Pirates 2 forever. I like it just as much as the first and loved the ending.)

First time I've seen that GIF as well. An absolute keeper.

As for the majority of POTC films, complete trash isn't even close. Both 2 and 3 drag, with 3 spiraling out byour the end, but at worst they are merely ok entertainment. 2 I'd say was rather decent aside from, again, pacing.

4 I shutoff after about 30 minutes however. Caught buts and pieces on what was then ABC Family I think, but it was still a poor impression.

On almost every occasion, I'll resoundingly criticize anyone who uses the hyperbolic terms like "trash" and "garbage" to dismiss certain movies, but if there is any series of movies that actually deserve that term, it's the later Pirates of the Carribean movies. After Black Pearl (which in itself was an entertaining, relatively tight swashbuckler), each film got progressively more ponderous, insanely convuluted, grotesquely bloated and shallow, always servicing the blandest of bland characters as they race around like under-written cartoon characters collecting an unending plethora of shitty Maguffins whilst battling a load of CG wank.

Mark Kermode is dead-on in regards to his seething hatred of that series.

I agree in that I think Pirates 3 was overly convoluted and bloated. But I'll defend 2 forever and I don't think 3 was "trash." It just disappointed me and had the usual "third movie in a trilogy" problem of trying to do too much.

I won't defend 4 as I've only seen it once.

I plan on doing a full marathon before 5 though as it's my fiancee's favorite series and we'll be leading up to a midnight showing of 5. Should be fun.
