Depends on how you define a spoiler, there have been trailers that LOTS of stuff.

Like from the Soylent green famous plot twist to the infamous BvS that tells the whole story to the classic Amazing spider man that shows the literal last frames of the movie

This is an info that have been kept from all the 2(maybe 3) usa trailers till now. It is a japanese trailer that is showing 2 seconds if the character.

It could be a flashback, right? So that doesn't even make it a narrative spoiler. It's just "so and so appears in the movie" with no further context. And it was in a trailer.

It pains me to say it but maybe Bobby Roberts is on to something when he talks about spoilerphobia.

That's not the same thing at all. Bloom was announced as being part of the cast almost two years ago. As far as anyone knew until now, Keira was not in this movie.

In fact, I honestly think the quick scene we see of her in this trailer might be from the very end of this movie.

So I'm not going to get into the whole spoiler debate but if only Disney Japan decided to show this in the trailers, that kind of sucks.

Pretty sure the entirety of the Pearl crew except for Jack, Barbossa, Jack, and Gibbs are dead. Barbossa only survived Blackbeard because he cut off his leg to escape.

There are some legitimate spoiler trailers, like Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Terminator Genisys, but overall people tend to go nuts to the point of not watching trailers at all because they want to go in completely fresh.

Remember when At Worlds End was about the evil Empire trying to end piracy forever because freedom? Yeah that was such a bullshit plot.

I will say this feels like it flashes back to maybe when Jack asked Davy Jones to bring the Black pearl up from the depths. Would be cool to see. I bet that Spanish Captain destroyed the Pearl and Jack asked Jones to bring the Pearl back. He did and Jack got away cheating death and the Captain isnt happy.
Just a theory.

I feel like this thread could have just been titled "New Pirates of the Caribbean trailer has major spoiler" instead of spoiling that someone significant is going to return to the series (which I have a pretty good guess now who it would be).

I freaked out when I saw that. I completely missed the foreshadowing earlier in the movie.

I would love to see the return of Davy Jones. Plus he has one the greatest bad guy themes that just screams "regret and longing" with a mix of insanity in my opinion.

Now that was an amazing mind blowing moment for me. I had NO idea that was coming.

I kinda wish that I still had a lot of those moments of complete surprise when it came to reveals or twists. It's harder to do that now thanks to me being more assimilated into the internet.

The last time I felt like that was when I watched Your Name.

One thing I would argue that is worth considering in these types of discussions is that we are clearly missing context here. I mean, sure, maybe the person putting together the international trailer went rogue here and decided to drop a bombshell in one of the most boring ways possible. Or maybe this is just "Thanos is in Guardians of the Galaxy" all over again and the information you're being "spoiled" on really isn't as noteworthy or interesting as you might initially suspect.

I'm surprised they were able to get her back given that she's not interested in big franchises anymore. I guess the dumptruck of money Disney placed at her house was huge.

People have argued about that for a while. This is from the Disney Wiki regarding what happens after the post-credits scene in At World's End:

What happens afterwards is controversial. Some say that Will was freed from the service on the Dutchman because Elizabeth remained faithful to him, while others say that he must sail the seas for all eternity.

So it looks like he's not freed from the service, since the new movie takes place something like six or seven years after At World's End as their son is now a teenager. And in that time, has stopped bringing souls to the other side since his face is all fish-ified.

So with On Stranger Tides likely taking place about a couple years after At World's End, does that mean the Black Pearl has been in the bottle for like 14 years or something now?

Eh, I think it's understandable here. They have specifically made a point not to show her in any of the marketing. All of it. Until a random Japanese trailer showed her for a split second.

If the marketing in North America makes a point to not show her in any of the commercials leading up to the release -- especially considering her appearance is very likely nothing more than a cameo -- it's understandable that someone would consider this a spoiler.

(Not to you, I know.)

That actually got me excited. Not that I liked her much but she was crucial.

I have a good feeling about this movie. Especially with the new leads.

She's said she wasn't returning several times, and western trailers have kept this Hidden, so Disney Japan kinda have spoiled the surprise.

Found it far more watchable than 3. But keep in mind it is still a -really dumb- film with the occasional bout of cringe to suffer through. Visually gorgeous though and some of the stunt work is alright.

I wouldn't say it was a spoiler. More of a marketing decision to show people that X character is going to be in the movie to draw in audiences.
