Was def not expecting that ghost typing. I almost considered switching to Rowlet but I think I'll stick to Popplio. I really liked the little details too like Primarina going full on Medusa during her attacks.

Real megatons were Red and Blue tho. Hopefully they haven't blown their load revealing things like this and that there's plenty more story stuff in the games to surprise us.


lmao Persian looks ridiculous. Tbh I'm slightly let down by Alolan forms as a whole. Very neat concept, but I have no idea why it's only Kanto Pokemon. And then out of that already small pool of 150, we get stuff like that Persian. And then two whole alolan forms get wasted on the damn Rattata line ffs.

I gotta say that this is the first time in a long time that I just love all three starters. I already plan on using all three during my adventure. Seeing Red/Blue is awesome and I love the small attention to detail they gave Red with his jeans being slightly worn out.

Yeah I know what its derived from, but it still feels awkward to me. Maybe after using it a while I'll get used to it and it'll flow easily but I'm still finding myself stuttering (mentally) when trying to type it out or think about it.

I nickname all my 'mons in any event so its not like I'll have ot remember it much, I suppose.

Second, I could not give less of a shit how long you've been playing competitively. I know players who literally started 3-4 years ago, and are literal Gods at this game. Sit down!

Third, the point I've been trying to make all this time is how much disproportionately better Azumarill (and other Pokemon like Clefable) are with Fairy as a sub-type. You're acting like a bunch of key things fell into place for Azumarill become amazing, but it was Fairy type that mainly propelled it forward. Give Fairy-type to literally any competent Pokemon and you'll see immediate results. And that's what this dispute comes down to. You're underestimating just how good of a typing Fairy is.

And finally, Blastoise and Swampert aren't trash. Not good for OU, whatever, but most Pokemon aren't due to power creep. But that's besides the point, since they absolutely have good movepools.

Dude. DUDE. I literally just fucking said this. Azumarill without Fairy typing is worthless. Azumarill without Huge Power but with Fairy typing is better, but still pretty damn worthless. Azumarill with BOTH is good. Not with one or the other, both. Along with it's strong movepool (Blastoise and Swampert are trash, get out of here). Typing alone does not. Mean. Shit. I've been playing competitive since I was 8, so no, I have a "strong grasp of strong typing that is". It's good. Very good. Can it do it all on its own? Hell no. There's nothing in the game that proves otherwise. Get out of here with that condescending bullshit.

Also it's not like Pokémon is shy of naming things after specific instances of real people or characters or being very blunt. The Hitmons and Mr. Mime are good examples but those were Gen I which had pretty wonky naming conventions anyway.

Some modern examples I guess would be Delphox (I'm going to count this as a specific reference to Delphi even though it's true and could be argued that the root has usage outside of specific references), Abomasnow (going to count since it's clearly a reference to "Abominable Snow Creature"), Relicanth (not a character but basically "relic" plus "celocanth" which is its irl name), Tirtouga (specifically references Tortuga; Carracosta probably has a reference too but I don't know it), and Clawitzer (references howitzer).

My point is that Robin Hoot may be kind of on the nose and too close to a reference to an existing character's name, but we've had stuff referenced in names before. Though I admit it being close to Robin Hood is kinda tricky probably for legal reasons (maybe?) and too blunt.

Yes, remember that copyright only lasts for around 70 years before something passes into the public domain (well, unless you're a huge corporation like Disney and keep fighting to keep rights to your ancient characters). Robin Hood passed into the public domain centuries ago, that's why there are so many books, movies, etc. that use the character.

Fun fact: the spate of Sherlock Holmes stuff over the past, oh, thirty or so years is because he entered the public domain a few decades ago!

I really wish we would have more Protag vs. Protag matchups in the series. Red is the only one that appears as a boss not counting RSE and XY having the opposite gender MC as a rival.
