Starfleet is totally a military in Abrams-verse. They were a military in the first movie.
Which incidentally is part of the NCIS/JAG-verse! And one of the characters on JAG is a Trekkie! It all goes back to JAG.checks out.
You can't just have your heroes talk the villains to death after all.I did enjoy Spock beating the shit out of Khan.
Even about world wars, Star Trek was optimistic.Well, they were violent conquering despots from the 1990s lol

please be like enterprise
bring bakula back
The fuck is it with these strange coincidences.. I started rewatching all of TNG again 2 days ago, installed Star Trek Online yesterday, and now this. Like.. wut.
Also, fuck yes.
Why did they only announce it for the USA? What about Europe? Who will stream it here?
The next chapter of the Star Trek franchise will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platforms around the world by CBS Studios International.
Deals are presumably still being worked out, but based on the wording below it seems like the show is being shopped internationally for whatever platforms, streaming or otherwise.
What are the chances of them putting a high quality show on this streaming service?
lol at people calling the first season of DS9 dull. "Duet" alone is better than basically the first season of TNG, half Voyager and the entirety of Enterprise
Not too shocking. The films have been dropped so they need to something with it.
You finally get another show.
Alex Kurtzman is running it.
BUT: They showran Fringe and it turned out okay. So who knows.
I just remembered that this pic exist
I had forgotten Nimoy had died.
No chance in hell it's in the prime universe.
The new television series is not related to the upcoming feature film Star Trek Beyond which is scheduled to be distributed by Paramount Pictures in summer 2016
It'll be jj verse for sure. But the tv format will mellow the non stop acting stuff and allow for lower budget more cerebral episodes and longer arcs. Cautiously optimistic I guess.
There is no way this will have anything to do with 'Abrams Trek' given that Paramount appear to have been cut out of this completely.
I'd guess that it will be set sometime in the future of the TNG universe.
Oh yeah, was that rumour of them bringing in some random fan to pitch ideas to them real or not? Have you heard anything about that? No, it's apparently JJ-verse.

Do people not like Orci and Kurtzman? I tend to be optimistic about them since Fringe is one of my favorite shows of all time.
You're thinking of a Season 1 episode, "If Wishes Were Horses". Although it was Rumpelstiltskin, not a leprechaun. (It was going to be a leprechaun, but Colm Meaney justifiably objected to the idea.)Which season has the episode where O'Brien has to deal with a leprechaun?
That the scuttlebutt, or just speculation?
