New GAME, you are even worse than your predecessor! I should have used up those points another time and just ordered this game from the usual channel. But no, I thought I'd give you a shot because of a shitty gold coin. I can only blame myself for giving in to temptation, but was it really so much to ask for you to oblige by your day one promise?

I played through the first world last night and so far I like it much more than NSMBW, haven't played NSMB but this is one good 2D Mario game from what I've seen at this point.

My £23 copy from Tesco hasn't turned up yet either. Been shipped but yeah, not here yet.

But either way, I got a copy on Tuesday anyhow on pre-release rental.

I downloaded my copy from the European eShop. It may be expensive, but I'll likely play the Coin Rush mode for a very long time, so it's good to have the game on my SD card. I just completed the first world; collected all Star Coins and had an absolute blast! :)

It's weird.

Every 3D model in the game feels like a step up from NSMBWii; sharper colours, smoother animations and possibly a very slightly higher polycount.

But the tiles and backgrounds, they feel like they were taken from jpeg'd screenshots of NSMBW. Maybe it's just me, but I found it especially noticeable in the first world castle levels.

Also where the hell is that damn 3rd star coin in world 1-A? I can't find it for the life of me.

It's not just you. I thought it was because I was playing on an XL but I guess not.
Some of the backgrounds (the sky level on the mushroom tops in W1 in particular) do look pretty poor.
I guess with the blurring 3D effect they skimped on them and figured most people play with 3D on anyway.

About the coin, it's right near the flag pole by the block of 4 pipes with the plants coming out in each direction.
Just... jump around a bit.

Got the game yesterday via Shopto
Played a few levels last night and liked it

For those in central London just popped into GAME Oxford street and asked if any free promo items, got given a Gold Mario coin :)

My guess is they spec'd on the regular 3DS with the graphics for whatever reason.

So I am definetely buying a red 3DS XL (currently owning a black 3DS), but I don't know if I want 3D land (which I loved) or buy this game. I would only be rebuying 3D land because my brother gave away the game to his friend. I was in the bonus levels loving the difficulty btw.

Really like the game so far. Yes, definitely a 'been there, done that' feeling, but the last time I got to play a 2D Mario game on a handheld was like 6 years ago, so I don't really mind at all :)

Got this for £18 from ShopTo since I had a bunch of unused points on my account. Great stuff so far, definitely better than the first game. I'm not sure where the hate is coming from.

Also, I like how the 3D works. When it's turned on the backgrounds are blurred which almost creates a pseudo depth of field effect.

this is why I don't like ordering online. They wait until Thursday to post so they don't break the stupid street date, then your parcel ends up not coming on Friday :/ Stupid Sainsburys.

online stores should all be allowed to ship on wednesday to improve the chance of you having it by the street date. While the eshop has it on sale at midnight, we end up waiting 36 hours

Well, shit. I've hit that block countless times looking for that coin but never thought to use it to get into the pipe.

100%'d world 1, great fun so far, levels definitely feel different to NSMBW and NSMB which is a good thing.

I've 100%'d Worlds 1 and 2 and am just searching for one hidden exit on the "?" world and I only have 45,000 coins. Getting a million is a much bigger deal than I first thought.....

The castle in World 2 and the first secret world are amazing. Not particularly challenging but really great level design.

My coin rush high score so far for the mushroom pack is a measly 1888 coins.

Well that was interesting, I picked up my reserved copy at BlockBuster, £37.99! (spits tea out), and then I pop in Argos next door and it's £29.99, so I went straight back into Blockbuster and got a refund and bought the cheaper one next door, seriously Blockbuster take the pee sometimes, such a large price difference between two neighbouring stores is ridiculous.

Anyway I've got it now and eager to try it out once I've finished smelling the inside of the box :p

I am so fucking pissed off. I have Amazon Prime and yet my delivery still hasn't arrived today. I couldn't sleep last night I was that excited; I considered buying it off the eShop since I assumed it was available at midnight but my package had already dispatched so I thought I'd just wait. Jesus, so angry! Royal Mail can go fuck themselves.

What am I going to do with my time this evening!? Read NeoGAF all evening whilst constantly refreshing Andriasang and RMC's site like usual? Yup, looks like it. Fuck, I'm so annoyed. Already lodged a complaint with Amazon but it's unlikely to amount to anything. Maybe they'll give me a free month Prime extension. They did that when I complained once before. :(

Surely you can think of something else to do with your time while you wait. Another game? A movie or tv show? Reading? Sports? Waiting for things like this gets so much easier when you're occupied with something satisfying.

Spoilers up until the beginning of World 3 I guess.....

On the Mushroom World there are as far as I can see three secret exits.
One from M-2 which led down to the Toad houses and another from M-Ghost which leads to M-B and then the Cannon.
Which stage contains the exit leading to M-A?
I'm guessing levels can't have three exits so it has to be stage 1 or 3 but I've combed both and found nothing...

All of my rage, i've been searching for this many times, hell I just went back mere minutes ago, running around golden flower power murdering many koopas to the point my coin score for the stage broke 1000. Worst part is I jumped around up there to no avail, I curse these beanstalk blocks!

the packaging is really nice!! they should do more colored cases like these. if 3DS Zeld doesn't come in a golden box i'm gonna punch a wall (a cute wall with wobbly eyes that is!)

This is the only major problem I have with the game. I've unlocked every world in the game as far as I can tell but I still have two or three stages I have yet to play because I have no clue about which stages to play to unlock them.

Not every secret path is accessed from the ghost houses either by the way.

Spent some more time with coin rush, really love that mode, especially in levels where there's a few hidden 1-up blocks that you have to try and incorporate into your speedrun.

Put it down for a bit to cook some food but,

The Gold Coin pre-order bonus is fucking pathetic. Literally the worst pre-order bonus ever. Makes me wonder why Nintendo even bothered.

I was expecting the coin thing to be the better incentive, but from what you guys are saying, sounds like North America got the superior bonus this time. The gold Mario pin and the steelbook are pretty cool.

OTOH, we get ghetto white packaging with no inside cover, so...

Yeah, the coin is a piece of shit. A kid was watching me open it in the store so I just gave it to him, it feels like a chinese €1 knock off.
