New terminology guidelines for Unreal Engine just dropped

And? All the stuff we do are our own creation, just because something has history doesn't mean it can't be modified with the times.

It's not "the times" but sick people who are pushing to unnaturally create a neolanguage for mind control, in the same vein as in 1984, their prime inspiration.

Language has two main features, and these are unmovable across millennia:

- Language is economic/efficient: every language in the world means to be the most precise and accurate possible. "inclusive language" goes against this basic principle, so it's not a language, but a perversion of it. Black is more precise and accurate than "people of color", so black is correct, people of color is incorrect from an objective linguistic point of view.

- Language creates words only for concepts that exist in real life, it defines reality: Inclusive language goes against this notion, too. For example, the concept "non-binary sex" doesn't exist in the real world, neither in science nor in common use. Nobody speaks like that in their daily life because these ideas only exist in a warped version of reality, very much like the platonic world of ideas. It's non-practical. A real language is practical.

Inclusive language makes communication poorer and less understandable so it's not a natural evolution and people will never adopt it willingly.

On point. Language is a means of control.

George Orwell understood that language control is essential to thought control back in 1948. It's why the Communist states sought to constantly invent new terminology and replace old terms with their new ones. His vision for how totalitarian states would use language to control thought was the basis for Oceania's "Newspeak" and he wrote an entire appendix to 1984 just to discuss the special truncated version of English that Oceania invented to ensure that the populace could not even think or express the concepts of freedom and individual thoughts beyond "Ingsoc" doctrine which was the Newspeak abbreviation for "English Socialism"

I want to share something.

This is over 2 years old. It's just a publication. This is really people trying to start something that's been around for a while.

Please let's not make this worse by bringing more attention to it.

I wouldn't be suprised if all the Youtubers just pretend that this is new just to get clicks.

Next update:
  • You can't use female and male in the code to refer to NPC since you don't know how they identify.
  • You need to always use a trailing coma so the last row doesn't feel excluded.

I'm sorry, this is a whole lot of nothing. People create languages and languages can't exist without people,if folks want languages to change either because of time only or war or whatever influence, it shall.

You have the right to accept theses changes, I'm somewhat indifferent.

How did we advance this much as a species while being this fucking dumb?
It's honestly the mistery of the century....The select few inteligent human beings carried this past century by themselves on their back if humanity turned out this fucking retarded.

It's honestly baffling we've gotten to this point. I think this is why wars were invented...to trim out the stupid before it procreates more stupid.

It’s crazy that they use 1984 as a manual for their destruction.

Guys, I think it's time for the industry to start blacklisting such practices. Taking away a man's basic freedom of expression turns him into a mindless slave. Don't act like a bunch of retards, nuke this idiocy out of orbit.
He said nuke.............. HE SAID NUKE!!!!!!!!

But how this can be implemented? Do they will check our codes? One by one? It's frustating, the term is there since eons ago and we cannot use it because some small amount of people are snowflakes to words?

FFS, they make an engine for game companies to use to make games, since when do they dictate and make rules like this, gaming is over! lol, this is ridiculous

It all started with donglegate. Some guy made an innocent dongle/penis joke to his buddy at a convention and next thing you know he's fired. Everyone knew it was bs back then but didn't wanna stick up for the guy. Here we are today...

There isn't any woke shit in europe?
At least not really where I live. There are people who are woke and get rightfully beaten up or told that they're mentally ill (which they are). Berlin, however, is woke central. But that city is a clusterfuck beyond saving anyway.

Esoteric terms in software that were just made up by some guy 30 years ago are annoying as fuck. These changes are for the better in every way.
Esoteric or not. Those standards were traditional and set without an ill intending meaning. Just because some weirdo gets negative connotation with certain words doesn't mean everyone has to abide by their thinking. Its ludicrous.
