New Zelda images (GC) inside

Link on the horse looks just awesome! That monster has some ugly textures and low ass geometry though, but i'm pretty sure both will be much improved for the final build. The other stuff we saw so far definitely looked better than that ugly monster, so i'm not too worried.

I guess I'll be the one to say that I think, including a shortcoming here and a shortcoming there, the visuals still look amazing. Though I wouldn't say that if I hadn't seen the video first. That's when everything takes a back seat to the game's lighting, art design, animation, scope, etc.

I still hope they fill in the overworld somewhat. Besides that, I can deal with some questionable textures. MGS3, for instance, is often techinically unimpressive, but it's no less a beautiful game.

This game will look better when it's released, Zelda 64 and Wind Waker looked significantly better on release compared to their initial unveiling, I bet this game will be no different.
I got some Miyamoto vibe from that sentence. Remember what he said at E3? :)

The question is: WHY did Nintendo decide to show that crappy looking monster out of all things, especially when media for this game is so damn rare.

i'm not sure what it is. there are just too many ugly little details on that model. the embroidery and stitching and filigree on every surface. the tunic over the chainmail over the leggings. maybe it's because the clothing is stiff and the textures are hazy, but link looks entombed in ugly flourishes. like a tasteless piece of furniture.
with this style of graphics you can't just have a green tunic with white undergarments...

I don't think I've seen a capture from a GC game that looks as good as it does in motion. I remember SMS looked horrible in screenshots, but in motion looks pretty good.

That being said, this looks pretty good already from screenshots, so I'm really psyched that this'll look kick-ass in motion.

On the eve of the American Thanksgiving holiday, during which Nintendo has traditionally launched a flagship holiday title, the company released new screens for four upcoming games for the GameCube. Of the four games, only one has been previously announced: the newest entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise. The three new shots appear to be pulled from the trailer shown at E3 and offer fans the opportunity to scrutinize the work Nintendo is doing on what will likely be the final Zelda game on the GameCube.
Gamespot.

This Zelda being "different" in that context does not intefer with what I said in any way.
Not sure if you got what i was trying to say :) Anyway here's that Miyamoto quote from E3.
Even after 18 years, the Legend of Zelda never stops changing and this game is no different.

Those textures are pretty bad and Epona could use some more polygons around the joints, but overall it looks awesome. Gamecube would be in a different position if it had this two years ago.

Oh right, I forgot that he said that... I thought you were referring to Miyamoto or Eji saying in an interview that this game will be considerably different from past Zeldas... Anyway forget it :)

i'm not sure what it is. there are just too many ugly little details on that model.

I'm more alarmed by the lack of detail in the enemies. Like that refugee from some awful Nintendo 64 game in the first screen. Looks like they spent all day getting Link all tarted up for the closet homos and forgot about the rest of the game.

resizing it didnt do much damage :)

Well Link looks great, but everything else looks terrible. Well the game is a long way off, about a year right? so they will have plenty of time to fix this. I think the only reason nintendo is showing it this early is so people don;t toss there gamecubes.

I hope they implement a GTA-type world where you can jack horses and do "Z-trigger" side missions

Stop hoping right about... now.

That is so unlike Nintendo and doesn't suit Zelda, plus I believe Miyamoto voiced his dislike of GTA on more than one occasion, I highly doubt he'll borrow from it.

Oh wait, you were being sarcastic... unless.

Seriosuly guys, some of your memories suck.

graphic complainers
Boo fucking hoo.

I could care less what it looks like, as long as it retains the Zelda feel. Everyone seems to be forgetting those short demo's and "dreadful" pictures that rose from the sewers when Ocarina of Time was listed as Zelda 64, or what about Wind Waker?

Yeah Nintendo want to push out a game where the horses joints look fake and where it doesn't have fur because well horses are supposed to have fur! The monsters look crap because they don't look real and too N64 style!

Remember - no one is making you buy this so quit your complaining if it doesn't suit your vision. Don't see me running up the walls proclaiming Wanda & Colossus looks primitive due to the horse.

That's probably just your asstastic sarcasm at work, but that would really be good.

Memories of what?

I'm not Nintendo's target audience. In fact, this mature Zelda crap ticks me off. Celda was a wonderful looking game, that could have used a heaping helping of polish - so that it played as nicely as it looked. I was looking forward to a sequel for that one, not this crap.

I was looking forward to a sequel to the Chuck Jones inspired antics of Celda and not this angsty teenager. I just don't make the connection from the NES and SNES short fat Link to this Image / Cliffhanger comics look. Link, pissed off? What?!

Hey, at least it looks better than those brown and green N64 stinkers, now you can see brown and green for miles sans the yellow fog. A sharp stick in the eye looks better than any damned N64 game though. :X

Yeah, because there just isn't alot of good games launching next year for the Cube.

N64 > Shantae

^ Absolute fact.

Seriously though, if this gen has proved one thing, it's that you should never judge a game by the screenshots. They always look much, much better in motion.

N64 > Shantae

You see adelgary, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy just perpetuates the stereotype that homosexuals have good taste in the finer things in life. I really wish they'd stop misrepresenting your folks, or at least you'd get in line and develop an appreciation for the finer things in life.

Like hammering your testicles into a bloodied flesh paste with a rubber mallet before picking up a N64 controller.

God awful looking Nintendo 64 games are the reason we have rabid 2D loonies. In which case, Shantae > N64 by virtue of not having murky textures and layers of fog obscuring the shit draw distances.

Don't take me too seriously, okay? ;)

I was hoping for a mature Celda this generation, and this title as an early Revolution release. This hardware just isn't up to what I want for realistic texturing, but it's perfect for cel-shading.

Yeah... I kind of agree. After playing Wind Waker I was really looking forward to another cel shaded Zelda game, the best thing about Wind Waker was the cel shaded graphics, though as a Zelda game I felt it was lacking. I had hope that the next Zelda would be really good AND cel shaded. Oh well, this new one still looks great, and hopefully Nintendo make another cel shaded one in the future.
