And wait till you see the system seller they're launching with....

I love the hand/arm positions these people have, imagine how sore your arms would get doing that for even 15 mins :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Director: "No, no! Higher! We need to really see the controllers clearly"
Actors: *crying* "Please can we have a break! My arms are going numb!"

Anyone who buys one of these deserves everything they get; nothing.

I loved Atari back in the day. I even liked the Jaguar. I am not interested in spending $400 $300 $200 on this. I might give it a look for $150.

$400 to play games you can already play anywhere else for almost nothing.

This is a big change of tone in your avatar, I know you had something in between these two but what happened to that jolly blue man with his arms folded?

I don't like this "dark and gritty Manabyte" as much 😨

It's been demoing linux versions of modern games. It's actually not a terrible hardware spec. But this thing is still going to die because nobody is going to support it.

It's a nice looking system, somewhat nostalgic so would likely get one when much cheaper, but the Atari Vault is usually cheap to pick up on Steam these days.

Ah, nice. 32GB internal storage though, you'd have to pair it with a fast external SSD to get acceptable speeds in PC mode. The value proposition changes like with the limited storage on PS5/SX.

I have a lot of Nostalgia from the early days of gaming, I can go back to the NES and just play some games over and over for the rest of my life.
But even thought Atari was my first real console (not counting that strange device we had that played 4-5 variations of multiplayer pong) I have so little nostalgia for it today..
like it's literally the worst version of every game and I could sincerely care less to ever play an Atari build again.

In fact even when it comes to NES/SNES any game that was in the arcade that was not Contra/Ninja Gaiden I'd almost always prefer the arcade build..

And even then, I'm not paying $400 for that experience.

The system itself looks really nice. By far the best looking of these "retro revival" consoles.
But lol at almost $400 for this.

It's cool that you can boot other operating systems though. Maybe when it fails and the price crashes it could be turned into a cool looking media/emulation box.

The design is slick and really cool!

But come on... retro game console and you place the d-pad in the lower part of the controller? Dude.

I think if they follow through with everything mentioned in that trailer, it has potential. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.

I like this promotional video.

I almost backed this project a couple of years ago, but I think the console is overpriced. If it was $100 I would be in. I'm old so the nostalgia gets me.

I would absolutely get one of these things if they were reasonably priced. Last time I went to visit my Grandparents they had my Dad's old 2600 in the attic. Pulled that thing out, had to fix the power supply, cleaned it, and started it right up. Dad had about 15 games to play too. Very fun, my little cousin saw me roll the score over back to 0 in Asteroids and named me Coolest Cousin. Those old games, with the old joystick/paddle controllers are still very fun. Tank, Shooting Gallery 2, Asteroids, Baseball are all a good time if you go in with the right mindset.

They were fucking up with VCS project for so long it's hard to find any positive outlook on the net now.

So this is probably their master plan:

1. Release it next to PS5/XSX
2. Flop instantly
3. Blame it on the release of PS5/XSX

Shame, I'm a fan of old school shit.

I say it as a disappointed Xbox fanboy.

What games at launch are you personally most excited for?

Only thing that really caught my eye was The Medium
Neither consoles have a good launch lineup. I'll play my next-gen games on PC until the consoles have games worth getting. Remakes and DLC for older games remastered aren't really breaking new grounds so there's no reason to be there launch day anyways.
