Thread continues to deliver long after the march reveal.

Can't believe it's going to be May already soon. And then a month after that should of been E3 and FanFest and all the glorious games at E3. Damn. Sucks!

Some dude says June 4 for PS5 event

edit: yall are faster than lightning
Everytime this happen, we have proofs and information about a date, so our expectations are destroyed by other infos/events. We are hoping February so we go to March, in April we are targeting May so now is probably June.

Sony want us to be fustrated ?
Microsoft will have a event in May. And a good Marketing management. Sony at least must give for us a amazing event.

That is a bollocks excuse from OPM. They knew exactly what they were doing with that cover wording. After the GoT debacle too....

Come on, just the simple fact that HZD new reveal is relegated to the lower right corner in small letters should have given this away to you already. You don't drop the huge image of the controller in the middle of the page, since the controller has already been unveiled, and you write about a HZD sequel in those hard-to-notice, small letters, almost out of view....

But people like to get carried away easily these days, I am guilty of that myself sometimes, but still.

I think what he was trying to say and illustrate (I might be wrong) is that a game set in Europe during that time, like say Kingdom Come: Deliverance, would not have a large number of non-European characters. Certainly they existed back then, but in lesser numbers than today. Yet, you had people criticizing that game for not featuring more non-European characters. It would be the same thing if you were playing a game set during the dynasties of the Pharaoh's in Egypt, but were expected to have a bunch of blond, blue-eyed characters. Sure there likely WERE a few back then, but not nearly in large numbers. Anyway, that's what I thought he meant.

I understand where you're coming from as far as his post go, but what i wanted to make clear is that he wants games they way he view things, in other words he wants it one way and not the other. For example he mentioned how black characters in movies replace white characters but he failed to mention how Tom Cruise was somehow The Last Samaurai or the fact in Assassin Creeds there were white npc's that were "pasted" in. I didn't elaborate on it but should have..

It's a wrap if the PS5 comes in at $399 I'm in day one regardless and the Xbox SX at a later date.

Your average joe won't be frustrated when launch is, at the very least, still more than half a year away. They can literally announce some great games right before launch and will still sell well.

No, it is besides the point. Right after having to apologise for GoT they immediately followed it up with this low effort bait.

Just more annoying than anything else when we've waited so long for the big reveal......

Tom cruise replaced a black character in the last samurai ?

Yep you're right, but this story behind the date makes anyone angry.

Mainly, if it's going to be a simple event and we get nothing special (thing that Im hoping not) and it was only a event to Sony knows Microsoft strategy. And if MS doesn't reveal the price we expect PlayStation event to July, August, September or even October, just because MS didn't show the price ? Sony is much bigger in gaming cenario than MS, thus we discute how much PS5 will outsell Xbox worldwide, in things like 3:1 ratio or 4:1 ratio.

But I know we have to wait know e and only wait. At least I hope Sony to do things like posts of a PS5's teardown, more of DualSense and like you said more about the games itself.

Not they not each generations they only bought a console where they can play its favorites games.

Only few people in comparison care about specs, we don't represent a shi in the gaming community.
Yeah and most people's favorite games are 3rd party games, so it's normal that you want the visually better console to play them on. I'm not saying it's the only metric, I'm just saying it's also part of the decision making.

Yeah seems very clickbaity of them, almost anyone would think they were talking about the HZD sequel. Very shitty of them,

Would be a huge mistake for them to reveal everything at once. Microsoft is guaranteed to undercut them now.
Well that did nothing to MS.

And what MS is waiting is PS5 price so they will need to wait at least until June if they want to price according with PS5.

Yeah but for say general the visual doesn't care so say is normal is not true:

-Switch sells a lot more than Xbox One and Xbox one X with worst visuals and less third parties
-Xbox one X doesn't increment enough to make it competitive agains PS4
-Wii and PS2 sold more than the competition even when had the worst graphics in general

If the visual were so in the mind of the users then nobody who can buy a pc will buy an Xbox, the PC can show better graphics without pay gold to play online.

Is true is not only one thing which can make a console wins but if I had to guess unique games and price are the main factors but in part is true your console need
some third parties but doesn't means needs to look better.

Buy a PC then, you will be able to play the best looking versions of Xbox exclusives and multiplatforms. And you can get a Xbox controller in there too.

It's ok to simply say that people buy Xbox because they like Xbox. There doesn't need to be a dance around the "metrics". Discussion in this forum will become much more fun if we just accept that. Specially when crossplay is here to stay.

Roger that. I get your point. I just didn't think he probably meant that. I get it though.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see where price points are, especially in light of the Coronavirus hitting and affecting production at multiple levels.

There is no need to copy between the 3.5GB and 10GB pool, the GPU and CPU have access to both. The XSX bandwidth won't be lower than the PS5's, it will be higher, even with the split pool and even in the worst-case scenario (which is unaccessible 128-bit every time the 3.5GB is being accessed) in case MS didn't solve that problem (we don't know yet). If MS did, it's 560GB/s all the time, if it didn't then contingency might make it around 480GB/s when it happens.
...
All graphics hardware AFAIK is client/server and in a client/server configuration data gets sent from a client to the server for it to do its job for the client- sent means copied data. This is how opengl does it, and was the reason why rendering across multiple servers was possible from very early in Opengl's life. DirectX was Microsoft's copy of Opengl after pretending that they were going to fully incorporate Opengl in Windows 95 (might have been OSR2) hence why Opengl libraries provide by Windows itself stopped around Opengl 1.1. DirectX was a copy of the client/server setup – the GPU isn't self contained and needs a CPU/RAM mapped driver to send it work.

I haven't seen any dev hardware since OtherOS on PS3, so unless you are telling me that the GPU in consoles now is a client itself, then what you are saying can't be true. Every time the game logic on the CPU changes the game state, it sends some data to the driver -which copies the instructions to the 10gb from the 3.5 – and it would do that presumably, so that every access to that sent data by the GPU while working wouldn't incur additional bandwidth penalties – but sadly the instruction data will only be valid for a frame of work before being updated again.

He says Navi 23 is the small one, Navi 21 is the big one, and that the smaller GPUs may not have RT or at least gimped RT.

Someone in the thread mentioned something about PS5 being Navi 23-based and XSX Navi 21-based earlier; dunno who that was and I think they were just speculating on the idea the higher-numbered part would be the more advanced one (which based on sane nomenclature, you would think that).

Makes sense IMO; for example don't expect a big focus (if any) on RT in the Radeon mobile APUs that come about later in the year and into the next. It wouldn't be a priority for them.

Smaller GPUs (with lower compute capablity) are naturally going to have gimped RT compared to larger ones. I hadn't heard about Navi 23 though.

He comes off as very obnoxious and arrogant
Do you know who is actually that man a what was the meaning of TLoU for the industry and for
many people that game was the best of this decade.

Are you sure you are not just hatter of everything related with Sony ? Is okay to have a different taste
for your favorite game like say for example you don't like The Witcher 3 but other is says the people
who made it are arrogant.

To put in perspective with something I know you like the last time Xbox did something similar you know a game which
establish an standard of what a AAA means in quality and impact with a new IP was with Gears of War 1 and that was 14 years ago.

In it's genre maybe (cinematic storytelling), let's not exaggerate on the impact of TLOU on the industry, unless you mean the developers and their lovely crunch time?

It's not hate towards Sony, I don't hate companies, and I don't dislike purely because they make exclusives for Sony. A bit too old for that. Purely based on those 50sec, he came off as arrogant. And let's not pretend that the stories surrounding him and his character have been amazing.

The Last of Us has had a huge impact on the game industry. It's one of the best games of the last ten years for sure. Not only for the game and story. Also for their best in class animations for example.

Let's make it simpler, does the PS4 copy data from one memory pool to another when the CPU asks an action from the GPU? No, because both use the same pool. The same goes for PS5 and XSX.

this is a joke, right?

Well that first source... "pie_tears_joy: But yes, it was a great game. I wouldn't call it the best game of the last ten years, but that's my opinion.

I don't get why everyone gets so defensive when I'm only saying that Neil Druckmann comes off as arrogant, when we've heard this from multiple sources in the industry that he's pretty much an ass.

But I already know a couple of people who already set $700 as their base spending budget for it. How will that $700 go, right now hopefully at least 2 games and they system.

Well...they better prepare to spend something for the extra SSD👌.

all passengers of his train died in that terrible course

Nope, still alive and well though my goodness lol...now SonGoku SonGoku himself has been perma banned....I actually have the ban page bookmarked and it's almost scary checking it at least once a day...you just never know who's going to do or say something stupid to get themselves cut.

At this point the only train crashing are those members who violate rules and burn themselves. They hype train definitely remains 🍻.

yet it has some of the most generic game mechanics and doesn't innovate in any way shape of form...
it looks nice, it animates nicely... that's basically it.

if you strip a game of story and cutscenes, and it is nothing special anymore if you do that, then it's not a game deserving of any praise.

and I know that is a controversial opinion but IMO it is a valid one, since we're talking videogames here. an interactive medium that should be focused on making the interaction part stand out among the crowds and not just regurgitate all the basic beats of any 3rd person game these days... TLOU does nothing special whenever it is time to actually play it, not saying it is bad, but it is nothing special in any way, all it's mechanics were in other games before it in VERY similar forms, and its own implementation of them is nothing that even comes close to being especially great or interesting.

No what I'm saying is he shouldn't even have been the last samurai to begin with if we are using the same logic as he was..it was and is the creators vision and it is what it is..

Just as an aside to all this, preeeetty sure "The Last Samurai" is Ken Watanabe's character. Tom Cruise does not become a Samurai in that movie, he just learns about their ways and fights beside them. It always gets to me that people that see that movie don't get that.

Those golden pipes are where the secret sauce is gonna be pumped into the APU ;p

That's the past, focus on the now. In the past Blizzard was unbeatable, look at where they are now. Even EA was brilliant 20 years ago, and look at them now. TLoU was made by different people, with different leadership, at different times. Nothing is a given and lasts forever.

He has the right to be that confident he's helped make some of the best games in the industry
