About that inside xbox

That Assassins Creed "gameplay" trailer looked suspect, looked heavily filtered with very fancy cinematics lol

Besides The vampire Masquerades game that conference was a load of rubbish.

Its my own fault, getting hyped, i should of known better.

Some of those games looked interesting. People need to remember that the start of any gen is always just that, a start. These are 3rd party games, that will also be coming to other systems. So technically have no choice but to make it so they can also run on the lowest available systems (Xboxone and PS4).

A few years down the line games will only get better.

AC looks decent for cross-gen, shame AC isn't actually AC anymore. Wasn't a gameplay trailer either like they said, was just in-engine.

Rest of the stream was terrible.

A lot of these games were cross-platform, explains why they didn't look "truly" next-gen, but then again we don't even have a clear idea of what true next-gen gameplay and graphics look like.

Scorn looks great, anime game looks like a great mix or realistic art with anime characters.

Reverse-thruster as far as hype for next-gen is concerned. Seriously the only thing noteworthy was AC Valhalla and Ubisoft are being ever the cock-tease. 50 secs of 'gameplay', talk about taking the piss. No idea why MS rushed this show, if the intent was to build hype for next-gen, then the net result was zero. If the intent was to sell Gamepass, then it did a good job.

Sony should take their time, no need to put on a show if the next-gen content isn't fully ready. I have waited for so long, few months of wait won't faze me.

So cross generation games still look like shit as always.

About the presented games my 2 cents:
the first game developed by this one chinese guy looked the best and could be fun. Dirt5? Every Forza and GT game of the old generation look better than this.

Yeah it's such a shame. the spirit of the first game and the Ezio trilogy has died out in the most recent games and they've moved to more RPG genre, I know some people prefer that but what made Assassins Creed special was those first few games. My imagination goes crazy thinking about what a game like Assassins Creed 2 with it's story/narrative and game design would look like on a next-gen console.

It's just weird that this is the first look for Xbox at Next Gen and there really wasn't a single game that i saw that made me think, wow this cant be done on the current gen.

Would be better in my opinion if they showed fewer games and just went into more detail as to what exactly makes some of these games next gen because graphically they aren't really doing it for me. Maybe a couple comparisons to current and next gen versions of the same game to show the differences to give people a better idea of the difference.

You think games will suddenly look better in ~5-6 months when the consoles released?

The games are ready to show.. this is what people should expect from 3rd parties for an early generation.

And lower your expectations in general for next gen IMO. Most games won't look much better than what we see on PC now.

It was a fair selection of games to announce, but I didn't see absolutely anything to show off "the power of next-gen", so to speak... They also went out of their way to say that first party games will be shown in July. That's surprisingly late.

This could be a bit of a marketing blunder by Microsoft, as it did almost nothing to show you a reason to buy an XSX over current gen. If they really don't have anything serious until July, they are leaving a huge empty space for Sony to portray PS5 in the spotlight as the "actual" next-gen console.

Agreed. The Medium and Vampire looked interesting. The indie that seemed to take place in a hurricane/typhoon was something different. Yakuza too. Not a bad showing.

And neither will be available to purchase.. likely until August or so.

As long as nobody fucks up with polcicies or anything like the DRM fiasco last year, that final impression when the products can actually be ordered is what will matter most.

I expect Sony to have their biggest showing right near pre-orders to for that very reason.

The thing is they're bigging it up as an XSX stream and would do well to at least show one thing to really wow people. There are a lot of people out there who won't take the cross-gen nature of these into account and will be seriously underwhelmed, they're not exactly selling the system well.

MS also seem to have all their employees act really fake and say "I'm left speechless" or "I'm amazed" when they've just shown what looks like an average current gen game in high res.

Most of the stuff shown doesn't even look particularly impressive for current-gen.

I'm honestly not seeing that scalability thing yet. Apparently there's a theory that cross generation games will look both next gen and current gen depending on the platform they are on.

So far I've only seen current gen games on next gen systems if you know what I mean.

i feel like crying, ffs

Why did they not show grim dawn, fs its one of the best action rpg type games coming to xbox.
The game has been out for years now on pc, and they have know for a couple of years now that they are going to port it to the xbox, its got a couple of expansion too, they could of shown had a great interview for 10 minutes with actual gameplay and bosses, but no sigh.

Its like Microsoft never fucking listens to the fans.
Its always the same.

Nobody's saying this isn't the case. Doesn't make it any better. Meh.

My point is that this could be perceived as a big bait-and-switch, just like Cerny's PS5 technical talk (going by the dislikes on YouTube, it probably was).

With that one, at least, "we" nerds got something useful. I have no idea who this was supposed to be for, especially after advertising and pumping it up for a week.

People wanting to see what 3rd party games will come out early next gen?

That's how it was advertised... as gameplay trailers from 3rd parties. Those trailers were exactly what we've gotten out of "gameplay trailers" since.. forever.

This show was somehow literally EXACTLY what I personally expected... because I can read..and this isn't my first new console generation. What's everyone else's excuse? Seriously.

I'm guessing they believe that constantly giving us updates on the system will increase the hype all the way up until launch. They are really trying to push this image that they are transparent and providing us with information on a regular basis.

The only issue that I see with that is if the content doesn't match the level of hype that they give it. Keep in mind that the XSX already has a really high level of hype for it and at this point an OK showing can have a negative impact.

Do I think there will be prettier/better looking games to play at launch/launch window? Most definitely.

Microsoft have next-gen only content but they have locked it down for their July event which makes me question why even bother putting a show chock-full of indies if the gameplay demos for next-gen games aren't fully ready. Same applies for Sony, if their teams are stretched thin due to current global situation then let them take their time to build the gameplay demos, we can wait out few more months.

The games are ready to show.. this is what people should expect from 3rd parties for an early generation.

The show comprised of mostly indies, the only big budget 3rd party game which was shown was AC Valhalla and to no ones surprise it looked the closest thing to next-gen.

This is parroted at start of every-gen and never comes true once next-gen only games start arriving. Boot GTA V on your PC at max, then run RDR2 on your PS4 Pro/Xbox One X and let me know if you think those two games are anywhere near in same ball park as far as visual fidelity is concerned.

I meant early in the generation.

But reality is; boot most games that came out in the last year and compare them to RDR2. They also won't compare well. Hell they won't compare well to GTA V.

Rockstar games aren't most games same as Sony's games aren't most games. GTA V is still one of the most impressive games of this generation technically, and it was a cross-gen game.

This should have been marketed as a general Xbox event, not an XSX focused one.

Similar could be said for Sony's GDC talk; that was marketed to general gamers when it should have been marketed on developer/industry facing channels as a clear technical presentation.

It seems they've both shat the bed once now. Hopefully they bring their A-games from now on.

One things for sure, I think Sony's intention of first-party next-gen only games at launch will favour their image greatly. All first party titles being cross-gen at launch is a terrible idea, it may seem amicable to get more people playing a game but it hurts the potential of the game itself, which is worse for everyone in the end. We've had nearly 7yrs of this gen, we don't need Jaguar cores and mechanical HDD's holding us back for another year, or even two.

When it gets to actually showing the games, I expect Sony to make more of an effort to leave an impression, a next gen impression...

Not sure what all of you were expecting. Big 3rd party games with huge teams working on it aren't shown at their event. They have their own event, which is why the whole summer fest thing exists. I like that Microsoft takes the time to let smaller studios show case their work. If it's not your taste well then play other games, has nothing to do with the system since most of these will also release on the PS5.
