So xsx drops to 1080p for a locked 60 in yakuza 7. Damn

Based on DF:

1080p/60 (High FPS)
1440p/60 (Normal)
4k/30 (High Resolution)

And all these with zero raytracing
We all know that console can do more than that but I mean looks like the Xbox marketing team
made a mistake choosing this game and dirt5 to show the graphic power of its console.

Is like if PS5 choosing Bugsnax yes I know that game will be the GotY but not for its graphics. :lollipop_squint_tongue:

No HUD in those shots. According to Orky those are “bullshots”.

I'm sorry though, but Yakuza graphics look like shit. I think they are using 1080p assets, they're very current gen up close, can't even get to the level of other crossgens. I remember it being labeled as not 4K in the Xbox official website, so it just got upscaled and called it a day.

Yeah I hated chemistry too that's why I went with electronic and mechanical engineering.I do realize now that it is different from what you studied , I dunno why I mixed the two.
Well congratulations it's definitely not the easiest cursus.

11-15 seconds or so loading time IS FUCKING FAST! PERIOD. It's a HUGE jump over current gen. I don't care if the PS5 loads everything in 1 second by comparison, the 11 seconds or so for XSX is STILL FAST.
It's still slow, especially compared to what competitor offers.
For you it may be not a big deal and 15 sec is "fast", especially compared to previous gen. For some others it still 15 second of wasted life looking at pointless screensaver every time game loads, when they prefer it to be zero, and 15 sec in such context are still uncomfortably slow.

You shouldn't push your standard of what is "good enough" baseline of load time to others, they might have completely different perception of it.

This is a game know for hefty load times (especially if you had a lot of DLC) so I'm surprise Harmonix came out and said this so bluntly.

Is this just a bc game then? So not code change, if so maybe without it the ssd hit a hard limit of what thwy can do alone without utilising the hardware further? Like when we see a weak ssd and a faster one being similar?

Either way, we want to see these comparisons.

If its had a code change PS5 should be ahead.

No load times on PS5 miles morales:

" The entire game is load-time free, even if you fast travel. There's just a momentary flash, and you are back into the action."

This sounds like what we expect to see on all PS5 titles.

Cerny mentioned the only thing devs have to do, here it is....

The Tflops are useless, it is necessary to evaluate how the system works as a whole.

8 DCU-16 CU hanging from the same RDNA2 branch is not a good deal.

AMD doesn't have any GPUs for now (leaked) RDNA2 has more than 5 DCUs hanging from the same L1. Although they have added L0 it does not solve it or AMD would have put more DCUs hanging. In fact 80 Cu is 2 times 40 CU and never exceeds 5 DCU per branch.

For me, taking advantage of those DCUs above 10 is requiring a low level programming with great care with caches. It's a headache.

However, it is only a speculation of mine, although with foundation.

TFlops are of no use if there is no control and there are no Hits in the caches, since they will remain waiting most of the time. That is why it is necessary to see how the complete system performs.

Microsoft said the hardware was capable of 12TFs of ray tracing.

So what's going on?

I can understand that dev tools might make it difficult but to not allow any ray tracing at all?

Anyone have an idea if what's happening? Besides dev kits that is.


Without hardware acceleration, this work could have been done in the shaders but would have consumed over 13 TFLOPs alone. For the Xbox Series X, this work is offloaded onto dedicated hardware and the shader can continue to run in parallel with full performance. In other words, Series X can effectively tap the equivalent of well over 25 TFLOPs of performance while ray tracing.

With its Velocity architecture the Xbox is now so fast that it come out before being ready.

And more seriously they could be a bit behind on the API but it doesn't mean much in medium/long term.
Could be linked to Covid , I know it's an easy excuse, but if they were a bit late it certainly didn't help.

Yeah, not even Devil May Cry 5 Special Edtion will have ray tracing at launch on XSX, it will come later with a patch. PS5 already has ray tracing, sony did their homework.
