What has he not written an essay about?

If there's RT on XSS this isn't an example of it. It may be for cars/buildings only, or the effect is hybrid enough on XSS that it still relies on SSR for most thingsI'm way too drunk to comment on if it's RT or not, but the fact Ubisoft have confirmed it will launch with RT kinda gives weight to NXGamer saying it's RT.
I asked him because it seemed he wanted to talk about something else other than the point being made. Why are you asking some random dude's opinion like he's in the know, about John's tweet who actually knows his stuff?
Tbf mate, that Dirt 5 was from an old build that Codemasters said has already been improved and load times lowered.
I'm game for the latter though. Only have a bit of Jameson left but when you've had as much to drink as I have though, it all tastes the same!
Not likely,IMO. Upon the expected UE5 update in the summer, Epic might do everything Lumen instead. But you still found something interesting.
I'm wondering if the PS5 version will have RT + 60FS.
What's that? When john says there is non at launch , there is non. He is analysing all the launch game as we speak on xsx and xss. THe performance might have been bad and got removed from launch to patch it in later
Dirt5 is about gameplay, not graphics. A lot of people were very positive about the gameplay. Next-gen isn't only about graphics. 120fps is apparently amazing for some people. I haven't experienced it myself, so I don't have an opinion on it yet.

Stop it, just stop it please. Here is Dirt Rally 2.0 on current gen consoles on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro (not sure which is which exactly):

Screen tearing, current graphics, unstable resolution, no raytracing, above all of that it dipped down to 54fps in the so-called "Quality" mode. It plays good? Probably. It looks good for next gen?

You should read that thread further; turns out John from DF had no idea either way and was just guessing. It's not "news" really.no ray tracing on launch. Ray tracing is like one of the biggest next-gen features, those scum suckers on pc have been loving it for ages now , we fucking want it, WE DESERVE IT.
John from DF admitted he forgot about WatchDogs: Legion. There are actually multiple games confirmed to have various forms of Ray-Tracing for launch on Xbox . I guess we will see but we can assume he has seen enough to know many of them won't have it at launch. You should read that thread further; turns out John from DF had no idea either way and was just guessing. It's not "news" really.
Emojis are fun, dont' take them too seriously. This generation is starting in such a better place than last time. it's going to be great.WTF, man. When you type, you sound very calm, very intelligent. Then you destroy that instantaneously with a trigger/lol/empathy emoji. Good point.

I dont get the point of comparing polished games to games basically in beta and especially this year of all years.
All I care is it having a 120 fps option and is it fun?
I'm going with $699 myself.
Wait, what?! the official Dirt twitter account just shared a Dealer video... I can't believe they went down that road
Nope. It's next gen, we shouldn't settle for "ok". And we're talking about Dynamic 4K mode that looks extremely mediocre graphically.

do I sense a rift forming between you and the Drug pusher?
There can only be One.

Just my 2 cents here brother but 120 fps in a console game is 100% next gen.
There is little doubt in my mind the game will look better over time
Nahhh
DMC 5 on PC also won't have Raytracing, I think capcom know their primary console and are just more focused on that platform.Yeah there's certainly enough reason to speculate (lack of footage, Halo was said to not be RT at launch, DMC5 patching it in.)
Just saying it's not news really.. I don't think the media has access to any real next gen games on XSX at this point other than Yakuza, and we all know that game isn't getting any RT on anything lol
Shut your face and get back into Burger king, you will keep eating until you find me my console.

For sure a possibility; and one look at Halo Infinite will tell you they were far behind graphically and it isn't shocking RT still wasn't expected to be ready.DMC 5 on PC also won't have Raytracing, I think capcom know their primary console and are just more focused on that platform.
Searched for the Ray Tracing quote from Ubisoft, but came across this article.John from DF admitted he forgot about WatchDogs: Legion. There are actually multiple games confirmed to have various forms of Ray-Tracing for launch on Xbox . It's fine, next-gen is going to be great.
Oh boy, you're going to look like a fool when the second GPU in the Xbox One gets revealed. Sony have no idea what they've walked in to - Microsoft are done playing around. The completely unbiased dealer lol, what next... digital Foundry sharing Mister x medias teardown of the power brick.
Don't have use GDK on PC though unless they only wanted to do one piece of work. Might be a directx learning period. The GDK does include PC. Maybe that's why?
If it is not hardware and assuming it is software, it must be very difficult to program in directX RT without using the Nvidia libraries. Because if not I can't explain it.Don't have use GDK on PC though unless they only wanted to do one piece of work. Might be a directx learning period.

Sony seems to be doing well so I understand that AMD Vulkan / equivalent that Sony uses should be much simpler.
Which only fuels my speculation that the PS5's RT is different from the SX when it comes to hardware.
As someone that started out with a PC before a console (decades ago) I would normally go along with this, but between the UE5 Demo and the two sony videos that Bo_Hazem linked in his art of pixel counting thread - the 1st about sony atomview tech and the second about how atomview is so beyond polygons that it can be used on crystal led screens as dynamic set backdrops and can be record in the scene dynamically as though it is real - if the PC hasn't matched the UE5 demo yet with a RTX 3090 then I think the ship has sailed for it beating PS5 in ray-tracing visuals, when you also factor in software production level on playstation. This! If you want great RT, get a PC, buy Nvidia, and get GamePass.
I'm sure devs will get better at everything related to these machines as they go, but PC will likely remain the definitive place for the best RT effects.
Is this fishy too?Searched for the Ray Tracing quote from Ubisoft, but came across this article.
Watch Dogs: Legion Confirmed as Xbox Series X, Series S Launch Title; Promises Ray-Tracing, Visual Enhancements
"Promises Ray-Tracing" sounds a bit fishy, but still good it's confirm.
In theory programming for SX should be the same as programming for PC with DirectX, except for the part of RT which is new. Also take into account that developing for the PS5 is almost like developing for the PS4. That's something that many developers are already used to so it's probably easy for them to develop for the new system.
