Wonder if that shithouse ram setup on XsX is coming home to roost already

My take, is its a mix of the larger shader arrays (14 CU) being fed by slower caches, DX12 being an sdk now actoss PC and console and even more abstraction layers.

It has nohing to do with memory speed, 80 CU RDNA2 has 256 bit bus lol, RDNA2 has improved this clearly we can almost rule out memory bandwidth now as a major factor if 22 TF 80 CU is happy on a 256 bit bus..

Someone who grew up about 20 minutes from where I live and an all time great Larry Bird.

Such a great guy as well, have been at many functions with him.
For a moment I thought you meant Larry Hryb.

Who's also a nice guy, but not really an all time great 😅

I wasn't really hyped for Spiderman or anything, but damn do the reflections in the glass look good. It just makes the glass look so right, and seeing people across the street walking around yet also seeing through the glass into the store is so damn impressive.

It looks like the red stripe on his suit is even reflecting things from off screen behind him as well, but I can't tell for sure.

Click this 40mb gif at your own risk lol

Nah it's a mix of SSR and cubemaps, I know that because I'm an expert that can't recognize bloody raytracing when every evidence points to it.

Any of you guessed who am I ?

I think you guys should maybe wait at least for the same multi-platform titles to appear on both consoles and compare their performances before deciding which console performs better. I find it really strange that some of you have collectively decided that Yakuza and Dirt performances are the benchmarks for judging the Xbox series and comparing them to PS5 exclusives.

I don't think that the XSX will perform any better in multi-platform titles than the PS5. And PS5 exclusives will certainly going to remain the graphical benchmarks for consoles. But at least compare apples to apples.

Looks like some fanboy trying to stir up shit for no reason. The screenshots are literally too small to see any of the higher resolution effects he listed.

Even then, i see a nice upgrade with the soft shadows (AO). All the areas that you'd expect to be darker look right whereas on the X1X there's no AO at all (look under the desks and floor in general on the first pic). I think they mentioned it was rt enhanced AO?

I also see some parallax occlusion mapping on surfaces where they were originally just flat textures.
Its a nice upgrade, though obviously its not gonna look dramatically different.

LOL, you've already been shown proof that abstraction layers are not being used for XSX when it comes to DX12 and GPU usage.

Not to call anyone out, but what did you want Rich to offer that he didn't? Sony's tear down is pretty darn bare bones, doing little more than labeling components. Rich discusses this, contrasting it against M$'s approach, which explains the differences in what DF can talk about. The liquid metal TIL is the closest we have to new concrete information from this video, and Rich discussed it about as much as it could be discussed. He mentions the size of the console because its the largest home console ever made. The design harkens back to the PS3: just supersize traditional components and use tried-and-tested techniques. That really limits the discussions to just how big everything is. There's really not much more to discuss without blind speculation, given the lacking content of Sony's video and Sony being pretty tight lipped about their design. I feel DF's video discussed it about as well as can be - what do you think they could've added that they didn't?

Personally I would have preferred some actual technical analysis, which is what DF labelled the video as. Example, WiFi 6. Rich mentions it's capable of 9.5Gbps (wrong) as a theoretical max speed. But in reality we never get near those max speeds. Why not? What is the speed the PS5 is rated at? What is the benefit of going WiFi6 since MS went with WiFi5. I found the analysis pretty lazy to be honest.

Man lot of damage control for ps5 in here.

Lets see: (from Playstation gamers perspective)
- Best controller is now even better, and have new features. Best symmetrical stick placement of the indrusty

- Best SSD of the industry, 100x faster than what current gen offers. Because of closed environment, epicly good APIs and dev software, it is easy to use for any developer, because it is automatically in use. Better than what PCs can offer in years, because no need to think slow ass HDD users and all the windows API / directx burden that slows things down. Just engineer games for one SSD without compromises.

- Fast Ryzen 2 processor, much faster than what current gen offered. helps to get new experiences

- Best exclusives, sequels for great games, lot of story driven single player games

- Really well engineered console, bottlenecks removed, balanced between performance, features, price and BC

- Tons of talented devs that Sony supports and helps, decades of history of devs whom can really use the hardware to output gen leading titles

- No need to drag slow PC systems or really slow "cheaper version" of the system along, just focus resources into one version of the game

- No need to think that slow vs fast system approach, want to do 1080p/30fps super ultra detailed game? no problem. want to do 4k game? no problem. No need to think how the game must run on 720p on the slow system, if it runs at 1080p on the fast system.

- Because of above, it can output best looking games of next gen consoles on the begining of the gen, and probably have really good looking exclusives later

- Sold out globally, while competitor cant sell their launch units or it took 2000x times longer on many countries (minutes vs weeks)

- No need to do low quality games for "gaming rental service"

- Cool 3D audio, which could be really something else. Almost what 3D accelerators were for graphics, if it is used correctly and it works well. Sony have decades of audio engineer background so if anybody can do it, it is them

- Stray, the cat simulator we have been waiting for :messenger_savoring:

So, from Playstation gamer perspective, what damage there is that needs to be controlled? if you say "bbbut muh 12 tflops LOL!!" then you are just a tool, but if you can give us nice detailed list of reasoning why people whom jump from ps4 to ps5 have some kind of sad moment of damage incoming, help us to see it:messenger_open_mouth:

I know you cant answer with any concrete reasoning, because there is no damage, PS5 is already success story and future looks bright as a supernova. Comparing PS4 year 1 and PS5 year 1 just shows how much of goodness we are offered.

So, why playstation gamers should be shocked of what competitors offer? Xbox have never been a serious option to us anyway, so we dont really miss anything, even missing Craigs sexy face isnt that big of a deal:messenger_savoring:

priceless initial reaction :messenger_tears_of_joy:

: shocked face : "why does this look like the halo game?"

pissed my pants :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:
Damn, he even took some shots at the infamous Halo Infinite video from DF: "I watched that video, I disagreed with about half of it because some of the stuff they explained doesn't technically make any sense and it's just not really correct in some places".
But he said what everyone has been saying, it's not a good representation of the XSX. He even wondered if he was being trolled by PS fans and they sent him some bad footage just to make him hate on Xbox, but yeah, his reaction is pretty much what has been said by everyone.
