He's not a verified dev. He's a verified "works at a third party dev company", but he's not a dev. IIRC he has only ever vaguely hinted at what his job is once, and it was in community stuff. He's definitely not a developer, and he definitely does not have access to dev kits etc.Despite Series X & PS5 being so close architecturally, the comparison is not exactly 1:1. Example, Series X has a higher Tflop count but also has a slower GPU clock wise. It's fast and narrow vs slow and wide.

PS5 dev tools are more mature at the moment and the Series X should win most of the face offs in the future, but the differences will be negligible and the PS5 has it's own hardware advantages as well which will show up throughout this gen.

If you have the same 10 TF and 10 TF GPU but one has a higher frequency then it has more GB/s cache bandwidth. Even if one has more TF but lower frequency still it has lower GB/s cache.maybe Cerny was right after all " narrower and faster gpu better than slower and wider"??
Here we have another case like Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Almost identical versions except for very small details. Better loading times on PS5 (in some cases halfway). The resolution on both consoles is dynamic, but from what I have been able to verify it is only rescaled horizontally, something that is not the first time they have been done in this saga. Some elements (very few) have a greater draw distance in Series X. Shadows also appear slightly more defined in some points in the Microsoft console. Once again, it doesn't matter which version you choose because they are almost the same. Unfortunately, I do not currently have the necessary tools to be able to measure the framerate of the 120fps mode, I promise to find a solution soon.
So it seems aside from faster and sometimes twice as fast load times on PS5 and better draw distance in some places on the XSX, the versions are the same. Weird that this game has "the advantages" that everyone would expect from these consoles, maybe the tools aren't as bad as some people were claiming...

Do you read? Sony GPU is not full RDNA2. It may have a chipset that based on RDNA2 but not the newer version. MS came outright in public and said there consoles only have FULL RDNA2. Are you naive to believe Sony would let that be if it was untrue? Sony would sue them, there silence is the answer!

II think people who hate playstation or xbox tend to be one console people anyhow. As a PC gamer, xbox owner and playstation owner, i just state facts as i see it.
This threads will get old fast and truth will come out soon enough. PS5 having it glory moment, but will not last. Weaker hardware never outperformed on pc or any console generation ever.

GDK wasn’t late. Issues and bugs with features and getting them up and running was the issue. Velocity Architecture wasn’t fully available to devs to middle of August. The CPU patch to the api that activated SmT for CPU was mid September. Dev’s didn’t have as many debug consoles as they wanted. Because of Covid Microsoft set up remote cpu to access debug console for devs and that didn’t run well. Some PC’s with GDK Api didn’t emulate Xbox series X features well. It was a bunch of issues.
From what I heard from DEV’s Xbox Series X is running at Launch around 70% optimized. While PS5 is running around 90% optimized. And before fanboys and console warriors start beating their chests. Even IF Xbox Series X was Optimized another 20% doesn’t mean that scales to 20% better.

SIMDs in RDNA have roughly 4X greater bandwidth than GCN.

So you can take a calculator and make minus 20% form left column (9.76TB/s, 3.9TB/s, 1.95TB/s etc) and you will know how much GB/s cache less will have RDNA GPU that have 20% lower frequency.
So +20% (Hz) can give even 700-800GB/s L1 bandwidth, and even 2TB/s in L0 (9760GB/s +20%=11712-9760=1.9TB/s)

I have no clue, but could be. Would be an interesting comparison to see PS5 power draw running PS4 games with no Pro patch, then PS4 Pro games, and then PS5 versions of those PS4 (Pro) games.Would measuring the power draw give any indication if the system is down clocked? DF made some measurements, and even relatively simple games like Astro could hit 170W-180W, where Rise of the Tomb Raider BC was 100W. Knack BC was 125W.

I never said that in that context. Believe it or not issues happen sometimes in development.
