I'm aware of GNM and GNMX, both of which have customised compiler architectures adapted by Sony for their consoles. The "tools are immature on Xbox" argument doesn't have any solid grounds to stand on, it's just fanboy drivel made by people who live in an echo bubble with a resonating fantasy who haven't yet grasped reality or refuse to do so in the hopes that some magical toolkit upgrade will provide some next level unattainable performance boost that was not possible before. Fanboy hopes and dreams, those that live under the shadow of channels like Coleeastwood, Dealer, Zalker and Xbox illusionists like TimDog, Misterxmedia, Blueisviolet and Astal need to get off the web and go get some fresh air or they're in for a rude awakening. From what I heard from DEV’s Xbox Series X is running at Launch around 70% optimized. While PS5 is running around 90% optimized
I think this is the first time I have come across exclusive modes depending on the platform. I don’t know what has led the developers to make this decision, but it is still curious and strange. The Ray Tracing that PS5 uses is equivalent to the low PC settings. In addition to reflections, it adds some extra light bounces giving an ambient occlusion slightly higher than XSX. Despite this, XSX has some shadows at higher resolution. Both versions have quite a few framerate problems, falling as low as 12fps on PS5 with Ray Tracing. We will see if in the future they add more graphic options on both platforms.

So, if I undestand correctly (I haven't studied this on a long time):
- Having more CUs is okay as long a you have jobs to feed them
- Reducing cache misses and having your caches clocked super high allows for increased effective bandwidth and faster operations
- If you have a lot of CUs but also have a lot of cache misses and lower clocks your CUs are going to be idle quite a lot of time
Good luck having 3rd parties optimizing for XSBX, now I'm beggining to understand all those rumours about devs loving PS5. Is not their dev environment it's the architecture of the console.

The whole generation will resemble the current results. The real difference will come with the second batch of First games for each platform. That's when people begin to understand what is PS5 and what is XSX. One thing is clear, there are many things on PS5 that you will never be able to see on another platform, so if you want certain games in your living room, you will have to buy one.

That PS5 custom SSD is a monster. Out loading the comp and still has juice to help out the rest of the system. Multitasking monster!

Can we talk about missed oportunities?
As both consoles are completely sold out, the PS5 will apparently jump ahead simple because Sony put out more units.
So for MS we have:
- Missed opportunity of an early lead;
- Missed opportunity of having better tools (if you believe in this, of course);
- Missed opportunity of having some exclusive launch games;
None of those affect the final product, but they really need to step up their game. Because stuff like that will make they loose momentum for no reason.
Isn’t RDNA2 backwards compatible with RDNA1 content? RDNA1 content should run just as good if not better on RDNA2 GPUs. I can’t see why the PS5 would have any advantage in that, it has the “weaker” RDNA2 GPU.Chris Grannell who replied is a real developer. who's worked on making Playstation games. RDNA2 a new chipset it takes time for devs to work it out and get the most out of it. People think devs don't have to learn new things here. Sony tools are likely more mature.
Still even if its not full RDNA2 chip in the PS5, it packs a lot of performance. We have to wait and see if that performance holds with devs start increasing the visuals and physics standard going forward
