Yeah i really don't see Sony waiting until after GDC to release PS5 information. According to some people PS5 info will be leaked during GDC anyways so i'm sure Sony would be the one to control the message regarding specs and/or features of their new console.
There should be something this month but then again you have the 'we're not ready to reveal anything at this stage' message on the PS5 website.

the discovered website has no way to be found but rather it was found randomly by playing with ps5 words. It's not accepting any email yet.

When you open such an important website and you have nothing to teach (apart from the logo) it is logical to put some informative message as what they have put (not as shabby as a "work in progress"). But that does not mean that they will not put info in a short space of time. Opening the web is a logical first step.

You can't assume tht. After the heavy losses of ps3 in terms of hardware Sony made sure PS4 was profitable from the beginning. Fast forward totally different situation as Sony is now raking in the dough from their gaming division and now also have millions made in subscription services. They lost around 180 plus on each ps3 sold, thy lost almost nothing on PS4 sold and now can at least take a $100 loss on PS5 if thy deem it necessary because thy have the capital, psn services and software money to make up the difference.

I was just trying to get a good estimate if, all other factors being equal, what time and being $100 more could increase the GPU. I don't disagree with anything you're saying and they could certainly take a bigger loss. But let's say they just say straight up "we want similar cost to produce vs cost ratio as PS4 and to allocate just as much percentage of that cost to GPU" What kind of GPU do you think that would land us?

But it is old news isn't it? People said that's what it was for as soon as the pics went up. Then people quickly dismissed it as a Dev port. People speculated they would take the same ssd as the surface laptops. These would roughly be the same size for that port.

a 500$ machine just makes sense. u got pretty much equal cost for PSU / case / mainboard etc. so if u go from 400$ to 500$ u can spend like 85-90$ on that increase on the chip. If u have a 200$ budget for the APU @ 400$ then u go up to 290$ which makes ur machine probably ~ 40% more powerfull for increasing the price of the machine by 25% ...
thats why i would love a higher price to boot. makes it overall better value and with the gen ongoing there is more on more money to be saved on those chips. which allows maybe not for 200$ machines at the end of the gen, but for 220$ machines which isnt a bad thing.

The only problem is that a lot more people are interested in buying a console at $400 than they are at $500... this has been 100% consistently true over decades. Consoles have to be priced to sell first and foremost.

One thing to keep in mind here is that while RDNA tflops are 25% better than Polaris tflops, they are actually 50-60% more powerful than the GCN 1.0 Tahiti tflops the base x1 and ps4 were based on. So the 9.2 tflops oberon is actually 13.8 PS4 Tflops. and the 12 tflops xsex is basically 18-20 xbox one tflops.
It's why I have always believe Phil was talking about rdna tflops and so are all the PS5 is stronger insiders. no one is talking about gcn tflops when they look at the spec sheets. Phil said over 8x xbox one s which is 1.4 tflops * 8 = 11.2 tflops. Curious how he didnt say 9. because 9 * 1.4 tflops gets us to 12.6 tflops which is over their 12 tflops target.

It might seem unlikely, and it probably won't play out that way when all is said and done. But, it's just a scenario that could be worth considering.
Samsung has Aquabolt (upper-end) and Flarebolt (lower-end) HBM2 modules at current. The upper modules give 307 GB/s on stacks of 4GB and 8GB, while the lower one gives 256 GB/s in 4GB and 8GB modules.
It's theoretically possible one could use HBM2 but that's going to be the more expensive out of the two, easily. HBM's issue has generally always been the interposer complexity. So if, say, the PS5 were using HBM2, they might save on interposer costs and complexity by just using 2x 8GB modules, preferably Aquabolt.
That said I think people are overestimating the advantages of HBM vs. GDDR6 when it comes to gaming. Most gaming code and algorithms utilize compression, and if the systems are similar in processing power (they definitely are in terms of the CPUs at least) the one with HBM and, say, a 2048-bit bus isn't going to benefit too much from that since anything 256-bit bus or larger with the GPUs these systems will likely use won't be bandwidth-starved due to the bus size, and they may not have the processing power to fully utilize the expanded bus a 2048-bit HBM2 memory pool would provide.
Just personal speculation/thoughts of course.
