if there's a ps5 teaser tomorrow then hell yeah im all in. however there's been so many leaks and rumours in the past few months that end up being fake ruins my hype. but june is around the corner so, i assume we dont have that much time left. we're so close!

More rumour and speculation

A recent post on Reddit by u/Daniel_mallorca1985
This guy posts here, fake renders of PS5 mostly. I'm sure he knows a lot...

EDIT: Just seen this, I'm really not majorly hot on insiders so anyone know ZhugeEX gets good info?
This is pretty much saying THPS, it's the most iconic song of the entire series.

You are aware that on X1X both the CPU and GPU are connected to all 6 memory controllers and the same goes for every console APU ever, right? On PC Zen 2 the CCX are separate chi[plets that are connected using infinity fabric, on consoles it's monolithic, a single die. It's not a PC, it's an APU built for a dedicated console, the CPU and GPU sit on the same die as the memory controllers.

You are aware that as you increase bandwidth that things get harder to achieve? In fact I believe AMD publicly said it was very difficult to move to 7nm in some way or another.
Where is your monolithic assertion coming from? Is there proof of that? because the XsX photo of the chip looks like it has a 'fabric' moat (from my view) consistent with chiplet PC setup and fabric in Vega was the start of AMD unifying their interconnect technology for going forward. The Exoscale contract they won almost certainly relies on chiplet PC APUs using infinity architecture. The clockspeeds of the cores and the MCU bandwidths (IMHO) won't allow for tight monolithic design as before that we saw with jaguar cores. The Cell BE wasn't monolithic, was it? Or what about the Xenon?

The point of large MCUs (AFAIK) is to alleviate wiring issues, so less wires means less heat, less heat means less resistance, less power draw, less electrical interference, allowing them to push higher bandwidths.

Seems like PS5 scheduled to be released in 2020 October!

PS5 will be release in October.

It's a shame that he is in the DF team.
He's actually very intelligent, but clearly biased to the PC. It makes me cringe sometimes when John will say something complimentary about consoles, and you can see Alex's face cringe, or he begrudgingly agrees. Or Alex himself will say something complimentary about a console, but then straight away explain why PC is still better at that thing etc, and i'm a PC gamer lol.

It's just stupid, there's nothing to gain. Consoles not only are not a threat to PC gaming, they are affordable options that bring more people into gaming.

And then there's the whole "On PC" mindset that people like him have that just splits my mind trying to figure it out. What is "On PC"? Your PC? These folks change what "On PC" is depending on whatever suits their argument and never stop to consider how absurd it is they have spent over 1400$ on Graphic Cards alone since the Xbox One launched.

I think it's easier for first party devs to "innovate" more on a closed system as they don't have to take into consideration a plethora of different specs.
I was pondering this the other day actually. I think a lot of gaming is held back by standard PC architecture as genuine leap forwards are rather price restricted for a number of years.
We're not particularly talking GPU power, RAM or CPU, but other bespoke architecture that may never appear in standard PC motherboards or GPUs. Or if they do it's a process that could take a long time to become standard due to a) a lot of folk not being able to afford the upgrade and it being niche, and b) issues with compatibility.

All of course my opinion, and was just something I was mulling over when I was thinking about the mooted IO systems in the new consoles.

If these companies don't start showing off gameplay soon with 60fps it's going to leave a really bad taste in my mouth for next gen. I want to be hype but I'm afraid that devs still aren't getting the message that people want more responsive games

Sorry, think I may have jinxed us there a bit.

I am actually agree with him ..... oh God I feel dirty

Specially in the guy he retweet 'Consoles won't get there until there is no appreciable difference in graphical fidelity between a game at 30fps and a game at 60fps'
yeah you can kill me but at least tell my cat .... the hate is mutual.

The problem with this type of comment by DF is that it conflates two issues.

The frame-rate a game is designed to be interactive at -AI is tested at, animations and logic, etc - is not changed, or even improved by the unlocked frame-rate hardware can render it at. Driving games and MP First Person Shooters typically scale to hardware without any issues, as the exception, and if that's what you want to play, then sure, the statement is fine - within the caveat that frame-rate doesn't break a driving game's maximum speed collision detection.

For games like AC major traversal mechanics are tightly bound to the animation durations, which still display and can't be broken regardless of frame-rate. They don't work like free-flowing platform games like Super Mario 3D world in which most elements of the animation can be broken immediately for the playability feedback loop. But games like those haven't been in vogue in the mainstream for over 2 decades, because they are too difficult for casual gamers. So the 'buy a PC for best gaming' (untested and not targeted) seems like something that is odd to say (IMHO). Any game that needs 60fps on a console gets it. GT and fighting games typically target 60fps. 60fps is nice on remasters, but mostly because it reduces frame issues for areas where the game didn't hit the 30fps with proper frame-pacing.

On the Easy Allies podcast, Daniel Bloodworth talked about the press release / press email that Codemasters had sent out. In the mail it said that Dirt 5 will have its Next gen release on PS5 in October. I believe it was this weeks podcast where this was stated.

They all thought it was a mistake or a PR miss, but joked about the fact that it COULD be the PS5 launch

You'd better start praying your developer of choice will make that game to run at the elusive 60FPS, or let's just wait for PS9 and Xbox Series ZXY to come around 15 years from now.
Chances are, RT will be dominant to save money on art. 30fps will be common, but I bet Microsoft Game Studios will stick to 60fps for s majority of their heavy hitters. Personally, I wouldn't mind a couple slower paced titles at 30 FPS where it might not matter as much.

While I tend to agree that $399 is the preferred pricing....I just don't see how either the PS5 or XBX could get there. I HOPE I'm wrong. But bottom line I DO think Sony could go with a higher price if they knew from the get go that MS was targeting the higher end price territory as well. IF that's the case that MS was...Sony could definitely target a relatively same performance level but in a way that would allow them to go with at least a moderately lower price point. Maybe with some really impressive features as well to try and market to take away more from MS (like a super fast SSD for example).

In the end, it's all speculation and we'll see where things end up once it's all finally revealed. I suspect that both companies were targeting a bit more higher end on the market and for the past 3-4 years at least, the world and especially the US economy would make that a much safer bet. IF that's they way they went though...this Covid-19 business will make this year a BAD time to try and go higher end on price. This may end up hurting both companies.

Still, it cracks me up to see 'experts' like Pachter and others stating that if MS could somehow charge $100 less than Sony that it would 'doom' Sony. Short memories! PS3 anyone? What was that...almost $300 more than the Xbox 360 when it launched? And the PS3 STILL outsold the 360. Yes that generation saw MS make some decent inroads as a relative newcomer to the market, but it hasn't expanded much since then and this previous generation has seen a return to outright dominance from Sony. It would take an awful LOT to 'doom' Sony when it comes to the Ps5. That said, anything is possible! The good news is that we should have most if not all of the information we speak here in the next few weeks. I have to believe that if a magazine is going to feature the PS5, that Sony will have to announce at least right before that issue is available, which is early June as I recall. We're almost mid-May now so just a few more weeks! All shall be revealed! :)
I think both will be 499.99. If you read above I was responding to the 499/599 dual price point launch. The memes would write themselves and Sony knows this every picture of 2005-2006 would be dug up photoshopped with the PS5. Sony is not going to invite reliving the lowest point of the divisions history.

an overclocked i9 with a GeForce 3080 ti will barely maintain 46.7fps at next Gen console settings.
Oh, we've received the benchmarks for the 3080ti? Link? I bet an i9 with the 3080TI will not only allow 100FPS+ but also with RT. Next-gen consoles will still be bottom tier in terms of performance, but the 10-12TFLOPS will certainly help the cause.

XSX is monolithic, a single peice of silicon:

Nintendo reveals the true berserker .... Nintendo Switch Series 5 now with RT and using the new architecture of Nvidia Ampere.

Now without kidding I am start to feel worried about NIntendo saying nothing relevant since the last year.

sometimes it's best not to talk when everything is alright, for all they know this could cause a pr blunder (give the impressi8n that they mean to compete on performance by example).

In terms of next gen settings:
  • 60fps
  • Native 4k
  • Ray tracing (wide-spread use)
I think it's possible we'll only see one of these implemented in a next gen AAA console game (AA level or below excluded,) any 2 combinations will be rare, and all 3 impossible.

Native 4k should be least important.
