The move means next-generation storage can't be expanded through traditional SSDs, requiring this Seagate-branded cartridge to add to your onboard storage, instead. However, NVMe PCIe 4.0 technology doesn't come cheap, with an alleged GameStop leak (via Reddit) now suggests a $219.99 RRP on the 1TB Xbox Storage Expansion Card.

The premium price tag wouldn't be a huge surprise — we previously predicted around $200 back in April 2020. The high cost comes with the demanded performance, and as a proprietary solution, Microsoft and Seagate are free to charge as desired for that opportunity. But it's a word of warning, especially for Xbox Series S and its 512GB storage, likely to cost near to a secondary console to upgrade the out-of-box capacity.

Too expansive for a 2.4 GB/s SSD in 2021.
PS5 SSD won't come cheap, however. A 7.5GB/s is not gonna be cheap.

FF16 was the big one and Demon Souls though I heard that one was PS5 only but have heard one more for PS5.

Did they need to money hat Demons Souls? I thought it was at least part owned by Sony, it was a collaboration with Sony Japan originally. Hence a shift to Dark Souls when it went multiplatform.

I was expecting something bigger than FF16, unless they are planning something huge for that game.
750M is too much for something that is not "mainstream". Sounds weird.
Edit: Unless that is the total spent on deals and there is more to come.
I believe it is a total. Don't forget that they secured FF16 and FF7-2, deathloop, Ghostwire. With many exclusives from Bethesda and supper SSD for open world games, something big may happen 🤣🤣.

I would rather just make like 1TB, slower NVMe m.2 that's as fast as XSX for like $94, or go for 2TB. Instead of running the game through it, use it as a back up ssd that you can take the game in and out with ease. Just waiting to see if this mechanism is available instead of overspending.

Mainly meant didnt see that one coming to PC, sorry just woke up and brain has not spun up yet

You just need to wait for RTX3080 re-stock and build a $3000 monster.

There's absolutely nothing on PC that would compel me to spend that much money. Precisely why I want both consoles so I don't have to spend another dime on hardware in the next seven years (apart from upgrading the storage).

Yeah no. Sony owned Demon's Souls forever. They funded that game and own the IP. The entire remake has been a Sony 1st party game since day 1. No money hat.

Back in the day, Sony passed on publishing it outside of Japan, assumed it would flop, were totally wrong. It ended up being published by different companies in the US and EU.

Sony missed out on the chance to own all Souls IPs, because they could have locked down the original Dark Souls to be exclusive too. Coulda had Demon's + Dark Souls, and Bloodborne too (which was Sony's make good / admission to underestimating Souls.)

Big shops don't have weekends here? They said you'll 100% get it in 19th of Nov. Maybe it's Sony KSA having weekend that day, but that should be an exception. You don't get a new console every year. Or maybe the demand is extremely high there and population is much higher than here as well so they don't want to give empty promises.

Thankfully Geekay told me I can come at 12AM on the 19th to pick it up from the store as the store will be open until 2 clock that day.

Yeah, sounds reasonable to think it's total.
I don't know man, I believe we are about to see the "only possible in PS5" quotes soon.

Tried to preorder in many places, but here they force you to pay full price to secure one in the shop. But they guarantee you 100% getting it in 19-Nov. Good way to avoid bots and empty multi preorders:

WAIT!!! WAIT!!!

What does this mean for titles on PS5? None at all? Or is it a Minecraft situation? Deathloop is Arkane/Bethesda....

2020 has been a strange year. Just noticed that X1 SAD is the best selling non-switch console sku at Amazon US. How did that happen. LOL

PS boys, don't lose your $h!t. I'm aware that PS4 had a lot of different bundles that are being counted separately. This is not a warrior post. LOL

That's huge!
Well, this may push me to get an XSX as well afterall...

wow, that huge news. shaking the gaming for real. let's see what future will hold, but it is a sad news outside xbox.

Well atleast if bethesda goes exclusive the games should still be on pc. I just hope they share engines or tell them to move to unreal engine.

This can't be underplayed by anyone. It's a massive move and one that will help them provide decent competition to Playstation this generation. The chances of me buying a Series X at some point just went up considerably.

Correct the xbox was smashed big time I wasn't interested at all until now, but still I will wait for the big games down the road to come for now PS5 still winner to my end.

Agreed. Some here on Gaf may not be a fan of their franchises, but generally speaking, Doom, Elder Scrolls and Fallout are amongst some of the most well-known and beloved franchises out there.
