f*ck the graphics (which aren't bad), what matters is that the game is bloody brilliant.
I don't disagree with you - love me some DiRT - but probably the wrong thread for that sentiment.

If you think this looks like real life you need to go outside more often.

I think the main problem with GTSport is that its super high contrast look works well in still pics, and also in replay, but not in game, where it looks unnatural. If I use Photomode or stop at the right place in a replay with the right camera angle, PD's godlike ability with the lighting/detail is staggering and as good as people show in these threads, but when actually playing the game, it never once remotely made gave me that 'real life' vibe that you'd think, although the above video is somewhere close to how I see it most of the time, it seems to be a bit 'unfair' and a particularly bad example.
Saying that, of all this gens games, I like PCars for it's realism, whilst if we did a photomode/replay spot check I'm sure it'd be deficient in this thread, it actually works in motion for me.
Forza is weird, I find any photo/replay comparison it looks poor, but whilst playing it seems to work well, what held it back visually was the things it probably sacrificed for a rock solid 60fps which for actual gameplay is a nice thing to have. I've been genuinely disappointed with FM7 visuals based on the youtube videos, although I have downloaded Blim's HDR videos to try on my LG C6 OLED, but I think T10 will always prioritise the gameplay 'in motion' stuff at a rock solid 60fps and any shader improvements will always be a step behind GT's.
GT has always been the game with the widest range of 'amazing lfielike still shots' to 'very bland looking video game' depending on so many factors, I'd say it be far has the highest 'highs' whilst contributing to some of the lowest 'lows' at times. Mind you, each gen the 'lows' seem to be creeping up (although the beta has it's moments!).
If PCars2 ends up being 60fps on X1X with high 'pc' levels of graphics, I think that might be a real contender for me..
Man, now you got me. I tried some configurations with rain showers on sunset, but no dice. I think this was on the career mode, probably on the "Pre-'80s Power" event on the Historic Rally career, but I'm not so sure. It would also depend on what window you'll fall on the running order, since, depending on your starting time, you might get a different weather pattern.
I wish Sony would do a driveclub Pro patch 1080p 60fps would do wonders for this game (
Yeah, I'm just venting. I mean, I know that Dirt 4 isn't the best looking game out there, specially because it is designed to run at 60 fps, and I understand the fact that the Ego engine isn't exactly new, but there some updates were made for Dirt 4. I just don't understand how can people say that it is an ugly game when it does so much things, and the dynamics of the weather, time of day and track generator works so well...I don't disagree with you - love me some DiRT - but probably the wrong thread for that sentiment.
Someone said that I should try setting a rain stage followed by a dry one with Your Stage. I'll see if it works when I get home. I'm stuck at work right now. Thanks again, I'll give it a go and experiment. I really want to get some 4K shots of those exact conditions you posted because it looks so good.
There's something with the blue hour that makes everything feel magical, specially from inside a car. :')I love the horizon line in this. The far-out treeline silhouette with the faded mountainrange behind it feels perfect.

Just tried that with heavy rain > dry, but no luck, it's just fully dry on the second stage.
I know this thread is beyond fucking stupid, but trying to make this point with bad screencaps of the worst parts of a Youtube video is a pretty stellar effort.

No HDR here, nothing we can do about that.

I'm sorry, but it just looks bad compared to Forza 7. Use all the tricks you want in the menus, replays, and your built in photo editors... but when you're playing and driving around the track, it's obvious the game has glaring issues. Those trees are just laughable.
It looks nice. It's not a bad looking game by any stretch. Have fun Gran Turismo fans! The word "break" flashing instead of break lines on the track is a neat helper.
So Project Cars 2 on 22nd September, Forza 7 the 28th September(early access), GT Sport in October maybe?...stacked.
Brake
Damnit. Sorry.
The braking marker also isn't meant to be a replacement for the driving line, that would be the driving markers. Which are three arrows that are placed at the entry, apex, and exit of a corner signifying approximately where your car should be at each point. At least as far as teaching you the track, it's a much better option than the driving line, which really just creates a nasty habit of people just driving over a line the whole track without ever really learning it.
That was the GTS build and track that Sony allowed us to capture at E3. They told us it was a new build compared to the beta, so what were we supposed to do? Not show it because some people would find it ugly? It's what Sony thought would best showcase their game, so go blame themI am not really sure what is the point from Gamersyde to upload such a video.
There many lighting issues probably because of the HDR.
Anyone that is playing the beta knows that the lighting is not like it is in this video.
Edit: Here is a comparison.

That's why I only use the brake line in Forza. Not the driving line. You can toggle to just use the brake line.
OK.
The snapshots are not from a Youtube video but from the Gamersyde 4K video (and I had already posted what is the source). If you have a better version please provide the source.
But I don't think that this will help with the shadow issue under the cars.

There's no conspiracy, and the difference is more than a simple TOD change. It actually just looks like an older build (even though Blim was told different). They're clearly just different time of day settings. The sun is higher in the sky and to the right-hand side of the car as it enters the tunnel in the Gamersyde video, which is why the sun isn't streaming through the pillars. Watch the video again and look where the sun is in relation to the tunnel.
I don't think it's some conspiracy to make GT Sport look bad...
So they told him it's a newr build just because? Come on. The realities of development are that sometimes you break something when you are trying to fix something else. I'm sure that ceiling will be fixed before release, but high contrast and crushed blacks have been part of GTSport story for quite a while. There's no conspiracy, and the difference is more than a simple TOD change. Look at the ceiling on the tunnel, there seems to be a LOD bug in the E3 build that isn't present in the beta. Overall contrast seems to be harsher (black crush) than what I'm playing in the beta also, but maybe that's just the capture gear.
Uhh... that's two different track settings. One is noon and one is evening/sunset.Anyone that is playing the beta knows that the lighting is not like it is in this video.

Seems like there is a level of inconsistency in general with GT:S which I'm expecting to be resolved by release.

Did the former Evolution team (later hired by Codemasters) work on this?

Every game has it's problems if you judge it from some screenshots.
This might sound like bullshit, but I'm still yet to see motion blur as good as the method implemented in PGR4. All others just look artificial in some way :/Jesus.
I'm still surprised to see 6TF won't fix the absolutely terrible motion blur or the lack of details like those floating track parts by the curbs :/
However, like the first post in the page says, all racing games nowadays look insane when you stop to think about it. Gonna have to check Dirt 4.
No, they are apparently working on their own game (New IP)

Wow, this is new to me. Do we know anything else about it?
(Evo being behind the wheel has me excited)
It should be fun to see what they can cook up on PC/One X/ProSo happy that Evo came out of that situation in one piece. They're in the best place possible to make great racing games now. Can't wait to see what they're cooking up.
