Like others have said, the first season of 00 was great. They didn't stick the landing.

People ignore the effect pretty boy Gundam shows have on sales and fanbase. People hate Kira, but he didn't drop off the Newtype character ranking poll until January of this year.

Gundam SEED main character Kira Yamato has been consistently in Newtype Magazine‘s Top 10 Male Anime Character Rankings for years now, even if Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny have been long over. Many people have even thought that good’ol “Jesus Yamato” would stay in the Top 10 Males forever. However, in the January 2015 issue of the Newtype Rankings, he finally drops out of the Top 10 after years of staying there.

Lacus didn't drop off until November 2014. Gundam Seed ended in 2005.

Poor Bellri only got a few months on the Top 10.

UC tends to own the models, but even Bandai's poll for the best Master Grade kits ever had Strike Freedom sneak onto the Top 10. (Poor Exia was #18.)

Depending on how old you would consider adult, 00 since in the first season only Setsuna and Feldt were the only member of Celestial Being who were under the age of 18, and the second season was a few years later.

Sunrise always reserved spot for UC era show OVA lately, that's all they need for "adult" demographic.


Meanwhile they still doesn't had concrete answer for growing new demographic for kids-teen-young adult demo, no need to say they will keep trying find that answer.

They've been trying to find another SEED without going back to that universe for awhile. Hence the Code Geass team rumors. If you stick to one universe, you're stuck in one design paradigm, so all your Gunpla will be variations on what you've done before. For Bandai, it's better if each successive alternate universe was as successful as SEED. Then they have a few different bases to work from.

Because Destiny was terrible. I am surprised that they didn't "milk" the Seed universe with their hard on for Freedom and Destiny Gundam but they're not ones who usually do that with their show.

Hence the Code Geass team rumors.

Ok so he's 19 in season 1, 24 in season 2 and 26 in that shitty movie. His season 1 age is still older than a lot of Gundam protags at least. I'm looking up some ages and Emma Sheen was 24, Reccoa was 23, Marbet from Victory was 22...whoa Katejina was 17, I always thought she was older, Dianna Soreil was 119...though still technically 19, holy shit Sochie was 15...Noin was 19...Paptimus was 26...I actually thing the Zeta cast was pretty old minus Kamille and Fa. Yeah damn a lot of the pilots are young and characters in general aren't really that old even Treize was 24.

Probably because Destiny was such a clusterfuck of a production -- disputes between Fukuda/Morosawa and the VAs, Morosawa turning in scripts late forcing the animators to resort to stock footage often, etc.

The first series you mentioned had a time slot change and with 00 some people were complaining too much about it not being "Gundam enough" so they apparently altered things to compensate for that.

There's a longer list than that, if you count the AGE generation arcs as seasons and GBF Try being weaker, among other things. But even so, I wouldn't mind an inevitable drop as long as they keep some basics working and wrap it up well (which I think Geass managed in the end). Of course, even that's based on an assumption. We are not in any position to actually discuss what will happen with the new Gundam at this point.
