It really feels like a truly high-end phone in the way that even the previous Nexus 4 didn’t, and Google has clearly spent a lot of time perfecting not just how it works, but crucially how it feels. There’s a new "silk" backing which is a slightly sticky plastic, and makes the phone feel secure.

The touchscreen, buttons and casing are all a significant improvement, but at 130g, it’s the weight loss that makes the Nexus 5 a real revelation.

Switch it on, and KitKat takes over.

It comes down to this.

I need to sell my iPhone 5 (but keep the SIM) and use the money from the sale to buy a Nexus 5 handset, rather than another contract from O2. I'll be asking them to simply switch the tariff from one SIM to another, thus continuing to pay my monthly fee as it is. I just need to find the best place to sell my phone. eBay would be my best bet but they're going for £200-£260 which isn't enough to get the 32GB Nexus.

Mine shipped last night as well!

I opted for two-day shipping (it was only about $4 more than standard), so hopefully I'll get it Monday. Or Tuesday, at the very latest.

Dieter is doing the review for the Verge (the guy who did their first hands-on video). So, don't expect anything higher than a 7.

He was also tweeting last night that KitKat and the phone are nice but don't fix some of Android's "longstanding" issues.

I saw he and Josh were both whining about "fanboys" on Twitter.

I certainly don't doubt that they both received ridiculous vitriol yesterday, but when you get a device and act like such stupid dismissive dicks before you've even really used the damn thing, you're kind of asking for it.

Yes! Shipped late last night! Should be here Monday!

I also joined the shipped last night club!

Yup! Me too. Though the fact I can't track it yet means is probably still sitting at the warehouse waiting for UPS pick up. So probably Tuesday at the latest.

I wonder where they'll be shipping from.

My Nexus 4 came from Louisville last year. Which would be awesome if they're using that same distribution center, because I'm only about 200 miles away from Louisville.

I should have fucking stayed home from working out yesterday. I'm grateful my mom ordered my phone at 1:19, but If I were home I would have completed it at 1:02 like the rest of you and hopefully had it shipped already.

I ordered when they went up and mine says ships by nov 5th still. Is it mostly euro/aussie area that is shipping already?

That makes me feel a little better. It's just that next week I'll be working everyday but Tuesday. I was hoping that it would ship last night and be here Tuesday since I chose 2 day shipping.

I think this might be my first smartphone. I've been rocking a Samsung flip phone since 2008.

Popping your cherry with the Nexus 5 is a good decision.
Android has come a long way, so the experience should be very good to possibly "Mindblowing". Specially services like Google Now will impress you.

Chromecast also came from Louisville. I'm pretty sure all their stuff ships from there.

Has anyone's tracking information in the US gone live yet?

Okay guys I've thinking about upgrading from my Nexus 4 to the 5 but the price is very different here in Denmark. It's about 700 dollars in Denmark. Would it still be worth it buying an Nexus 5 over a Galaxy S4 for example ?

I'd like to hear your meaning.

Just got my dispatch email in the UK At 10:53, ordered at 18:06 yesterday.

Thought it was going to have issues with the fraud protection, after unlocking my card and reverifying the card with Google it never changed from declined.

Customer service sent me an unhelpful reply to my query saying it was declined still and to reupdate my payment details again.

Contemplated going to carphone warehouse at lunch, but it wouldn't let me reserve the stock at the store closest to work.

Then the dispatch and credit charge finally happened, problem solved.

Whoever got his phone shipped, did you buy it from google store? Because I'm not sure if I should purchase it from their website since it says 3-4 week estimation for me.

Just checked the price for the 32gb Nexus 5 on O2's website and promptly spat all my tea over the monitor. O2 are charging £549 which is at least £210 more than google. You would have to be some kind of idiot to pay that price.

I appreciate that google are selling the phone "at cost" and a retailer would have to add some sort of mark up on the phone but come on an additional 210 bloody quid.

£639 on one of their lowest contract tarrifs as well, wtf. Who would do that.

And this is why I'm going to have to sell my current phone to get some money to put towards a Nexus. O2 really is the only option for me as I'm in contract with them anyway and all my friends and family are with them, so cheaper calls.

This makes no sense, you know the Nexus is unlocked and will work with your O2 sim card, right? So you can just buy it £200 cheaper from Google, no issues.

You know you can buy the unlocked version cheaper, direct from Google right?

In Google's defense, most of the launch on the Play Store went smoothly. I was able to place an order pretty quickly, even with the influx of early adopters trying to snag a few.

Even shipping has turn around quicker.

Thinking of leaving verizon for sprint or tmobile. Tired of getting shafted on phones. Guess it's finally time to hang up my unlimited data. Only problem is Sprint doesn't have 4G in my area. Tmobile says the 4G coverage is "good." I'd also be paying more, and won't have a discount anymore. Live in greater DC area.

It does?

Welp, that's solved a whole load of issues then. I'll sell my iPhone on eBay (I can easily get £250-£270 for it) and just put the rest in myself and buy a Nexus direct from Google and just continue to pay the monthly fee to O2. Sorted.
