This may be a stupid question but do you need to re-root every time there's a firmware update?
Buy away now that it has been confirmes both the GPS and Touch Screen issues are solved in the new update.
Makes it the best tablet on the market currently IMO.
A hard reboot didn't do it, but I'm going to try again in the morning. If that doesn't do it, I'll try to do some research, then look into returning it.Does reboot makes the camera issue go away? Haven't seen that happening on mine.
So I sold my iPad 2 today and went back to the nexus. I had the 1st gen Nexus 7 before selling it to go try out iPads for awhile. Well I got tired of living in Apples closed little world and lugging that huge fucker everywhere. So far I'm loving the HD screen, and I like being able to tinker with the OS again! So far so good, hope it stays that way.
Yeah, that was a huge pain in the ass. Just putting movies on it was a chore.I could never understand how people can stand having to use iTunes to do everything with their device. Stuff like that makes me feel uncomfortable heh.
Anyone in the UK received their n7 thus morning? Any issues with it?
Cool, awaiting your feedback...

You know one thing I haven't seen discussed much and I'm unclear on is how the multiple users things work. Can you set it up for two people so that when a person signs in, his respective Google account is logged in to all the apps? Or is it just to restrict app usage to users?
I use the 7 as my primary tablet currently but prior hadn't had to use iTunes for anything other than importing my Amazon bought music into Match for prob almost 2 years.
I got it about an hour late, but whatever, it's here.
So far, so good. No screen issues at all. And my God what a screen it is, it's beautiful. So far I've got her rooted which was a piece of piss even for a first timer like myself. I haven't had much time with it but it's good so far, I'll give some proper thoughts on it later.
Yeah mediaserver was my primary drainer at about 37% usage. Currents and Now were already disabled right away. I'm sure it was Picasso attempting to rescan my huge library. I'm on day three and I can say with confidence that I'm glad I waited for tablets to get truly awesome before making the plunge. Everyone I show it to at work wants one immediately lol.i don't think i had picasso or used it. i did notice mediaserver draining my battery.
anyways. i disabled current. and so far battery have been pretty good so far.
also still waiting on my case. hopefully arrives tomorrow.
I keep hearing about rooting. What are the benefits? How easy is it for someone who has absolutely no clue what he's doing?I got it about an hour late, but whatever, it's here.

They need to push the new update out quicker. The fundamental issues it fixes is too important.
Google don't do mass roll outs any more and for a damn good reason. I work for a software company and we do something similar. You don't want to have to deploy on thousands (if not millions) of devices to find out that there's an issue and have to send out yet another update to fix the problem. Staged rolls out stop this as you can control the volume of the roll out.
If you're that bothered you could have flashed it yourself without much of a problem.
As for dead pixels? When you've got 2,280,000 pixels to deal with, one or two are likely to show up. Panels are never perfect.
Not sure if anyone's posted this here or not, but Tesco has a ridiculously good deal on the Nexus 7 at the moment.
First up, sign up for Quidco.com. Quidco is a website that offers cashback on various items bought online. It's really awesome - saved me close to £500 over the years.
Access Tesco through your Quidco link. This way, you'll get cashback on your Nexus 7 purchase (mine tracked at just over £8 for my 16gb Nexus 7 purchase).
Then, on Tesco's site, use the voucher code 'TDX-MJGQ' to knock off £20 from the price. I also got double clubcard points since I used my Tesco credit card, so I made £3.58 worth of points clubcard points, too.
In total, my Nexus 7 16gb cost me just over £165. Absolute bargain at that price.

If that is the case I'd be more inclined to get it exchanged if you don't want to go through the hassle of flashing a new factory image on it to test. Potentially it could be bad flash memory screwing with driver/software.

So you don't get the speaker hiss/crackle?
I went through two models with it and threads on android forums tend to call it a common thing, bit if there are models without it I might try to exchange again.
Goddammit..
I need to figure this one out cause it's really pissing me off. Also, I have typing noises shut off yet I can still hear them lol. Perhaps another reboot is in order.
What are the benefits of rooting?I'm a complete newbie when it comes to tablets and Android and I had no problem rooting it at all, I used wugfresh which makes it very simple. If you can read and follow on screen instructions you'll be fine, plus there's Youtube videos that will guide you through it.
So far I'm loving it, I still can't get over the screen. The only negatives so far are the volume/power buttons as I said earlier and the length of the power cable, it's so short it's just ridiculous.

Mediaserver deals with photos/music/videos. Try turning off all the sync stuff for your goggle accounts/facebook and then start turning them on piece by piece. i.e. only sync music, then add g+ photos, then facebook, etc.
So one thing I'm noticing today. The back is getting very warm up near the back camera even when not on the charger. Is this normal for this model or do I need to replace this thing already?

Seems to be a symptom of all the current high end tablets. Fast chipset to power super displays means these things get warm. People had the same issue with the retina iPad when it hit.
That's good then. Wasn't a major problem just wanted to make sure I didn't have some odd launch problem.mine gets like that too, i think it is normal.
Not on iOS, no. However he said he doesn't listen to music at all which is usually what makes usage stats on iOS look so crazy good.
